When to Actually craft.

I recently have quit hunting and started crafting because simply i seem to do better at it then hunting.

In the past i was doing some basic filters and mech bp’s for skilling a we bit.(mostly just trying to help my soc m8’s get a higher QR) And now i’ve been crafting settler shins. My QR on my settler shins bp is almost 40. and the only bp that seems even worth trying to make is the 1A Plating.

So my question is do i still keep skilling on my settler shins until i get it to like 100 QR or start on the 1A’s now?

What skills should i sort of get myself to as a good base before trying to craft some sellable items?

I think its more an issue of crafting skills than settler shins QR.

When you have reasonable success chances with 1A’s even with low QR I guess.

I know i ment as in should i just keep going at the settler shins.

I would suggest skilling until you have “Excellent” chance of success on a QR 1 blueprint before starting crafting with it, this goes for when using expensive recipies like the 1A.

So just keep skilling on your Settler (or Pioneer) until your chance of success raises to “Excellent” on QR 1 prints.

Sure you could start before that, the above is for getting as low a loss as possible.

Listen to MB he is wise when it comes to crafting :wise:

wow realy? cause that seem’s almost kinda soon to me because i’m already there i think. Mabey it’s just with my shins bp i’ll have to chek. thanks everyone for the advice.

Yeah, I second that comment.

mindbuster, many people i have talked to say that engineering effects the crafting process in a major way, do you think so as well? At the moment i am just mainly skilling up with my pioneer mask so i can get armor tech and manu up but costs alot  cant even imagine peds that go into the best crafters skills

That question actually deserved it’s own thread, but…

Yes, Engineering affects crafting alot, your chance of success raises faster, like, you can have some armor bp with QR 45 and maybe “Good” as chance of succes, then you can go making components to increase your Engineering and go back to the same QR 45 armor bp but this time have “Great” as chance of success, without even having made any armor since you started skilling on components.

There’s also the old saying that miners are the best crafters (as mining increases Engineering too) and that crafters are the best miners…

so maybe i should skill a ton more components to increase my efficiency of armor crafting with the engineering. Too bad the lyst prices have gone up so high lately :stuck_out_tongue: i guess there is always belk too

Belk is almost as high as Lyst, 140-150% atm, quite hard to find as well so it’s a bad deal for crafters :banghead:

And yes, I’d second skilling on components for Engineering - way cheaper

Hehe ya, well i guess i can just go out mining in some lyst and belk areas and see if i get lucky and hit a massive :stuck_out_tongue: but with my luck last few days that just wont happen

Yep engineering does a lot. All lvl1 stuff that i have tried to craft has always been at the change of success: Exellent. Because of my quite high engineering due to mining.

hehe  you still have my 100 QR panel bp! :stuck_out_tongue:

yep I agree with MB…

the best thing I think you can do is only craft on “excellent” chance.
sure you can still get nice outcome on other success rates, and excellent can go horrible sometimes (my record is 29 fails in a row, with excellent chance) but still, excellent is the way to go.

so for any area of crafting you do… it’s wise to skill up a lot, you can with mech or any other too, since they give engineering and other skills which will help your crafting overall.

although, if you are specializing in a specific area, like armour. manufacture armour skill is still the most important one for you then. skilling on mech will help too, but not at the rate you will get on armour.

lastly, I would advise that if anyone is wanting to craft attachments, and maybe even weapons… to skill mostly, and maybe only on components. since these area’s of crafting are very expensive to craft on…
