Well, ok, strategy.

Okay guys, what the hell?
Let’s finally get the mining forum started!

Without revealing places,
let’s discuss mining rumors, ideas, tactics, strategies. Kind of like EP have at the moment.

Basic things that interest me are:

-Is it true that when you gain prospecting skill, it means you found a cluster?

-Is it true that when you gain geology skill, it means it’s the end of a vein?

-How effective is the mirror-image angle vein finding method?

-What is the best way to spot a vein?

-What kinds of experiences and statistics did hardcore miners develop overtime?

And anything at all you’d like to share.

i have found none of those claims to be true but i cant rule it out still

one thing i dont belive is that good skilled miners extract more from a find that low skilled does theres simply no evidence of that.

one thing i have found thou is that in an untouched area all claims are found in triangles triangles consist of both ores and enmatter and theres no apparent rule for the lenghts besides that they tend to be about the same in an area

High skilled miners do pull more from a claim than n00bs, im only a semi skilled miner but i have noticed a difference in return on the same kind of claim, pulling more and more on a small or an ample as example.

Also Strakkan have gotten globals on Abundant deposits, whereas lower skilled miners get the usual 35-45 ped on Abundant.

thats the thing i have ½ the skills of you and i also got an abundant global 50ped erd, but u could be right but im not convinced

THAT one I can actually say is true.

Guys at EP conducted a study. I think they did it on gazz.
I think a miner with skill 4000 pulled 9-11 gazz per pull.
A miner with 700 skill pulled something like 7-9.

I myself dont remember.

I had only 4 mining globals, since I’m not a miner at all, and none of these ever exceeded 70 peds.

skills matter a LOT when it comes to mining. Hally if you have found an Abundant at 50 peds…and that it was erd, thats like 1 on a billion id say. Claims that holds high tt minerals like Kanerium for example often gets bigger then the actual size that the deposit usually is at. And its the other way too they often go smaller too lol. A noob abundant can be from 25 peds to max 40(maybe 42 or so as MAX) and my abundants now are always over 33 peds and always under 48 peds. Strakkan can get 220 peds on a significant which noobs max can get 160 from or so. Even 160 is a good significant if u are a noob, you can get a 100 PED significant if u hit a bad one.

I will just read about theories in this forum, i will not post since im fed up with rattexx theories and that they suck so much, even if they are true. The best way to mine is to just bomb bomb and bomb on places you know often holds minerals = PROFIT, even if noob

Ummm
Hrmm
Can someone teach me how to mine :bomb:

Found this on www.myentropia.com once and saved it.
i have tried if it works and so have some other members of Danish Mercenaries ← had to put it in
and we all agreed that it works… :wise:

Skills
If you gain in the following when blasting:
surveying = enmatterdeposit
prospecting = oredeposit
geology = beginning/end of vein
perception = larger deposit nearby
intelligence (when placing rod)= deposit is part of a vein

Blasting
Detectors reach around 45 meters from the blast. It will always locate the nearest deposit. Small deposits are closer to the surface, so if you want a large one, try blasting the same spot again. Chances are you strike nothing, or a bigger deposit. Several deposits near eachother is a cluster. Search for clusters if you gain skills when placing the first rod. If the cluster is in a triangluar pattern, it indicates fairly large cluster and good area. From what I have heard, no matter what your skill is, you will find the deposit if its there. Might sound weird, but hey, these are just rumours, remember?

Veins
Veins stretch in straight directions, either north, east, west or south. When you find a deposit, run for approx. 10 seconds in a direction of your choice, and blast again. A vein can contain all different ores and enmatters mixed together. Therefore, use both probes and seismic bombs. If you dont find anything, run for another 10 seconds in the same direction. Chances are the vein has "holes" in it. If you cant find anything, go back to your first rod, and try a different direction. There is almost always a vein, even if its hard to find, and they can stretch very far (half across Calypso, I have heard!).

If you get a prospecting/surveying it means there is a deposit ample or bigger (could be massive, vast who knows ) within the vein/cluster you are mining. doesn't always mean its nearby could be at the other end of the vein but gives you a good idea of when to bomb carefully.

So far in my experience all larger deposits (ample+) are on the edge of veins.

Cant remember whio the author was eather.

hmmm all this is interresting and a possible explanation can be my relative high craft skills which are same as some of the sub skill when extracting today i hit a blaus abundant of 48ped and a plentifull of 246peds the abundant seems to be high end but the plentifull can be up to 330 on my chart ??

if a vet miner can get more from a claim then why is the last pull alwas a smaller number ? that would indicate to me that there was a fixed ammount of stones in the claim ?

like 16,14,17,14,15,17,17,8 where the last pull of 8 is below my normal range ?

id like to stress that im not claiming to be any mining guru and other ofcource know more than i but i just find it unproven that vets get more from a claim

Too Bad

That website is defaced, and from a worm about two months ago.

Any how one big advice I can give is log all you finds. Place depth type time…It will help.

Can you be more specific? Which web site?

Think the web side in question is www.myentropia.com

Some people recommend blasting a bomb. If claim is up, blast 90 degrees from the initial direction trajectory, run for 10 seconds. If nothing, run back to the claim, and turn 90 more degrees, this time in the direction opposite of second blast. So you move in this type of trajectory: ////////

I’ll write the info down, trying to verify it.. But I guess it’s just a “maybe” and not straight facts yet.

Although, it would be cool if someone found out exactly how it worked someday.. and noone told MA about it :stuck_out_tongue:

my advice Is

  1. Get a map and draw on the veins you find
  2. once you ‘pofit’ from a run use it to reinvest in searching for ‘new spots’
  3. save Up as much ore as you can too sell in bulk @ same% = higher profit!
  4. Gather as much data about each deposit, MA time found, X/Y co-ords, depth etc
  5. check those spots you find have ore/en as often as possible, some respawn twice or more a day!
  6. If you get a skill gain but no deposit found, run around it dropping both en and ore, sometimes it is a diferent type, sometimes it is too deep/outside of your range, but it IS THERE!

like this -

  • = initial bomb with skill gain
    1,2,3 etc = subsequent bombs/probes

…1…

2…*…3

…4…

4

one of those ‘should’ find extra deposits!

once i used 5 bombs in similar area about 10 meteres apart and gained 3 skills, eventually i hit a nice hof

  1. along the base of hills/mountains often hold Ore
  2. near water/rivers/lakes often hold En

Good luck guys! may the hof be with you! :dunce:

I’ve been trawling around the PE forums for months now and this is the most insightful thread I’ve ever read about mining.

Great stuff guys/gals

“i will not post since im fed up with rattexx theories and that they suck so much, even if they are true.”

Looks like I found you. The problem is yes like it has been stated in this forum, the pattern will change when ppl find out about it.

But yes that is the challenge is’nt it. I would not mind investing a few dollars here and there in a “game” that tests my mental abilities rather than just leveling me up and always making me stronger in other mmos. Thanx MA for the challenge. I will break it and you will change it. Its the way of life :wise:

Your theories has always been the best. And i think that they always be. Always gives me a good time of thinking

Just don’t think too hard. Burning brain-cells tend to attract all sort of nasty mobs

I agree. I don’t always agree with them and sometimes think they area wrong but they are always worth the time I spend reading and thinking about them :wise:
