UPDATED: Sound file listing to remove 'talk' voices

208794.wav
208801.wav
209031.wav
209032.wav
209033.wav
209034.wav

If just renamed them ~208794.wav and so on so the files are still intact but just not accessed by the game anymore.

Tested it out, works great nice and quiet at PA now.

ah - no no no no …

I dunno, but in the back of my mind I ment to have read somewhere that this was illegal :S

Anyway, when Im in cities and stuff, I just turn off sound from PE (on options) or just turn off sound of comp if I dont listen to music.

yeah the EULA says you cant ‘modify’ the file. since you just rename it and keep the game from loading it. shouldnt be an issue. just reread it to make sure. double checking now.

Participant agrees not to translate, modify, copy, printout, disassemble, de-compile or otherwise tamper with Project Entropia system, code, or any firmware, circuit board or software provided therewith. The Participant also agrees not to hack into or interfere with any data communication to or from the Project Entropia servers, clients, and systems, as well as not to use any other software than the Project Entropia client to interpret or influence data sent to or from the Project Entropia server and client systems. The participant also agrees upon not using any third party software or equipment that influences Project Entropia in any way. The participant agrees upon not tampering, removing (except complete uninstallation), adding, or changing the installed Project Entropia client software and its associated files in any way whatsoever.

Dont see ‘renaming’ as part of that. if they say otherwise then okay. Since the files are still intact, unchanged. Ive heard of people changing the music also and replacing it with some of their own music to listen to while playing. Im not making assumptions that MA isnt going to worry about the sound clips being changed/mod’d/renamed or whatever since it doesnt change the gameplay or how the game works.

We would need an official statement on this, f.ex. a support case, before we can allow discussion of this matter.

UPDATE:

Major, the threadstarter, got a reply about this in a supportcase.

Okay it came up in game, and now on PEforums cuz I asked about it. Is renaming some of the sound files so they are not used by the game considered a EULA violation? All I’ve read is you arent allowed to modify the files at all. Does renaming or deleting them consitute modification? tyvm for your time on this subject.

2005-11-14 MindArk Support:
Yes any modification would violate the EULA.
