the biggest thing that stands out to me is —Interplanetary jumpgates— does this mean warpship owners should be worried? very interesting…
The UE5 alone will not make us have more players or keep that new player ingame, seeins your post it seems that you have good ideas but the loot system its not good, right now the MA returns and high skilled high geared player return are sustained by low and mid player (like a pyramid scheme)… this needed to be changed in order to make the game grow with new playerbase like old times with PE when was actually posible (as many players, an ubers said) to improve just playing without heavy and imposible depo.
Anyway the game in UE5 look cool, i like it but please… dont finish just changing the Engine and ofc… dont do like happened with the cryengine and the 1000 bugs we had lol
Thanks for the hard work and spirit of evolve.
being some wishlist running:
Teleporters from one planet to another that will like monria ones cost 7 ped… take some for MA, some for planet partner and share the rest amoung all ships that are online in the moment it was used… (to keep some income for ship owners) and use space ship for proper use… kill monster in space not a miserable life as taxi
centralized auction with free delivery on any planet, share for PP adn share for MA, fixed percentage fee with no minimal, use of decimals (PEC) in prices and low value items like boxes quoted not in term of percent but in ped/pec per item.
Revamp of all melee weapons to keep same eff same DPP but use uniammo.. Rdi scientist can do it…
I don’t think this part has properly sunk in yet - it’s a game changer !
Please provide actual new info thanks in advance.
Also, eye candy matters not for the dedicated Entropia player, anything that will hinder the current gameplay, like adding too much shit so you can’t hunt properly and efficiently will only be an temporary “amazement” to the eyecandy, only to later turn into massive annoyance for players, and a lot of potential lost revenue for you and other PP’s. Please take the time to work a bit on mob AI with UE5 update. To this day a damn Eomon cannot figure out how to get unstuck from other eomon for example.
Make it simple, not complicated, for regular hunting (outside events and instances). We’re used to just pressing F. If this won’t be possible in UE5 you will lose a lot of revenue and it could severely hurt the game. Hopefully you guys can comment about what plans you have about this matter.
I wonder if the name of the game will change to Odyssey.
I briefly played “Project C” which later changed their name to “Life Beyond” as part of a rebranding to sync up better with the new metaverse concepts.
Agreed^^
From Entropia. Are we leaving Entropia?
Sounds right. :wise: :unsure::ROFLMAO:
I think this is the most intriguing, and possibly, the most revolutionary change to Entropia. I would really like to see you elaborate on this. What does “emergent gameplay” mean exactly? Give us some examples…
When I read the above, I can think of a few examples of things like this that already exist in Entropia, for example, on Secret Island, after you kill 500 Mountain Gorillas, 1 of them that is tameable spawns. That could be a rudimentary example of "2. If these inputs and outputs ‘match’, an outcome occurs involving these entities". Another example could be the way that the Hussk is spawned, another very obvious one is how it seems it’s always the one doing the most dps that gets the aggro from a mob, and so on…
So obviously you must mean something more than that, something better..
I try to think of things, some obvious ones could be for example:
- After all waves are done, and after killing the boss, a rare resource will appear in the ground and can be found for the next 30 minutes.
- If a hunter stops shooting to heal himself, the mob tries to escape by running away
- If you drop some probes, it can change loot composition in some mobs
- Boss size could vary depending on the number of hunters present to kill it
etc…
I don’t know… I’m trying my best to come up with examples but somehow I’m not sure what is meant so would like some examples of what you mean exactly.
ehm legends… if the monster runs we loose loot… please dont give suggestion to rise cost of hunting ![]()
i like the idea of dynamic HP of monsters tho
I like the idea of hitboxes which could be integrated in various ways on avatars but also on mobs too. Ie different hit streetlights on different parts of the mob or avatar - shooting it’s legs first will not be optimal but it will stop if moving fast, lowering defensive costs etc. neck shots have higher crit success rate versus ( hard) head or chest shots - probably too complex but would make it more interesting.
Auto / bot hunters would hate this ofc.
I’ve been considering the holy-crap-istic universe lately, which can be surprisingly good or bad. Unfortunately, as I’ve said before, discovering complex connections will give people who notice (or are told about them) a potentially huge advantage. It also invites a huge amount of turnover to be required to ‘find stuff out’, such as how often a boss spawns, even assuming something that simple.
I am concerned that this new ‘odd essay’ we will be writing will contain far worse than even waves. My pretty much only hope is that the types of activity luck involved will trip events quite a lot and openly, so that most players still get close to a balanced return from their actions.
I am also wary of what MA considers to be ‘emergent’ - and how much they actually let go of the controls to some kind of AI that attempts to balance itself from the actions of players…
One type of emergent could be based on building blocks of development where both shield units and weaps can be improved in some kind of evolution. How fast will players drive what types of tech development, for example.
Will bps be evolvable too, for instance. Will entire areas such as society camps be able to develop crafting buffs within their zones?, that sort of thing…
Yeah but that’s just hilarious isn’t it? You stop to heal and the little bugger turns around and runs away! It just cracks me up ?
Thank you. Appreciated!
Are you planning a new soundtrack for the UE5 update as well?
I have some concerns about this and am probably not the only one…
When I read the entire blog post, I get the sense that a lot will change since you appear to be re-building a fresh new game from scratch. I’m sure you intend to migrate Estates and valuable UL items over into the new game and preserve the value of those things, but I have a few questions about this:
-
What about materials and resources I have been accumulating for years now? Can I expect them to retain their scarcity and utility? I’ll give you an example: some mats are rare and hard to find, like for example Dunkel, Light Metal Plating, Rugaritz, Light Mail, etc… Every time I login, I search for these and acquire them and sometimes end up with big piles of these; for example before migration started I had a big pile of Aurli Bones and a big pile of Light Metal plating. The value in these mats is held in the Mk. 5B Blueprint and Lich armor part BPs. If you change or “improve” anything there, you could easily wipe out thousands of dollars worth of markup I have been painstakingly accumulating, in some cases for years.
-
Are you going to put all Deeds (including CLDs, AUDs and Ark Moon Deeds) on the new Entropia Exchange in the new game? I really don’t like to be “forced” to pay a transaction fee when selling deeds, I much prefer deeds that can be traded in private without any fees since I’m never long on Deeds these days. If you intend to put them all on the Exchange, will you at least give everybody a heads up?
-
Is the initial vision for Land Plots still intact? Is the concept and utility of them to be completely overhauled or are you still going to do with them what you had originally planned? Is Gardening going to remain the same; use the same ingredients? Another example, right now I have almost $2k usd worth of DNA Fragments A/B/C/D in storage. Are you going to completely change the way that Gardening was working so far when you “redesign” it in the new engine? We’re talking about almost $1000 usd worth of mu here… just for those DNA Fragments, not to mention all the other mats I have stock piles of.
-
Are the “Jump Gates” you plan to introduce going to kill the space taxi business and affect the perceived value of Privateers and Motherships? I think you should be considerate of those who have invested (in you essentially) and bought ships based on promises; you should at least give them some new promises, if not a bit of a heads up as to what you are planning the future role of their ships will be in the new game you are building.
-
What about the value of avatars and their skills? Some of us have been working really hard and spending quite a bit of money to skill our avatars. Are you going to keep the required “investment” for skilling relatively the same in the new game? Or will it be much easier and cheaper? I mean it wouldn’t be fair to your veteran players if a new player in the new Entropia could skill up to level 300 in under a year, considering it has taken Messi and others a decade or more.
-
Entropia has a really good record when it comes to keeping people’s money secure; I have yet to hear of a massive hack, even the few occasions someone claimed their account was hacked were a bit suspicious. MindArk has done a really good job in the past of keeping everyone’s PED and assets safe, will they continue to do so in the new Game? It should be top of mind for you, I’m surprised you didn’t mention anything about security so far.
What’s really important in an RCE virtual game I think (in order of importance):
-
Security (assets and money safe from hackers/scams)
-
Stability (maintaining the relative value and utility of assets in the game over time)
-
Opportunity (create opportunities for your participants to generate growth and profit)
I could probably find a couple more things but I would really like to focus on these 3 and I just would like to make sure that MindArk is also focusing on these first 3 points as they begin to build the new game.
Legends
So players speculate, hoarde materials, avoid other people use them to storage quantities that dont need immediately and balance team should assure that value generated by "cornering "or “Rigging” is safeguarded ? is this the question?
in this case seems like give a premium to those that make life difficult for other players, i disagree
if resources are hoarded and not used, balancing autotuner should make the loot generator inject more in the game.
That’s not the question at all. I accumulate materials over time because that is the only way. It’s the only possible way for me to do what I do and be able to re-stock Lich for example on a daily basis. If you look at the history for Light Metal plating for the last little while you would see that we are in the middle of a drought, and yet I continue to be able to craft it and keep my shop stocked.
The reason I have been accumulating DNA Fragments over the last several years is not for speculation but so I can develop my many Land Plots. You see the way a Land Plot owner levels his Plot is by Gardening and the Gardening system uses DNA Fragments A/B/C/D, a lot of it. It has been theorized that at Level 4, something should unlock, partly because it was meant to be tied to the Compet game and this is how it was in Compet; at level 4, was the first unlock. In order to get my Medium Plot to Level 4, I need something like 2,100 ‘A’ Fragments, 700 ‘B’, 700 ‘C’ and 700 ‘D’.
If I wait until MA releases the next phase for Land Plots to start acquiring these, it will take me years because the supply is very limited, so I have no choice to accumulate and think long term, that’s the way things are designed in this game.
All I’m trying to ask is if my foresight and my preperation will be in vain or not. If MA changes how Gardening works, all this effort and preparation will have been for nothing, and I could end up losing a ton.
sorry reference to Dunkeel and such misled me (you know i support the idea that all amterials that are in the BPs should be available in a decent quantity to allow clicking for all of them)
I read some thread on the land plot betrayed expectations…
As per light plate, those prevented me to buy a set of Lich bp’s for my own use. i understood that it still drops from space monsters.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the balances can already change massively on certain things even in simple vus, let alone the changes to be expected from an almost complete rewrite.
What is the functional description of the 1000s of avatars that play EU? They are the accumulation of what they have done in the past - skills, items and things gathered/hoarded. The range is huge and this undertaking towards ‘Odyssey’ will throw everyone into a new universe it seems.
But how much light there will be and how much darkness in terms of preinformation seems to be pretty dark to me so far… when will the light switch be flicked on?
Markup is made up by players and you can not demand that certain thing stays rare as it never worked that way. Never hoard to the point you can lose everything.
