Uninstall Service Pack 2 w/o Admin

Hi, I’d like to uninstall SP2 or disable the window’s Firewall, but I do not have administrator rights, for it is a school laptop i have over the summer, and would like to play PE on it, but the firewall blocks it.

Is there any way to do this atall? - If so, thankyou, if not, thankyou for taking your time to read this

nope..no admin rights..no uninstall.

For that matter your not supposed to be able to install PE with out Admin rights.

but you can

Why dont you do this?

  1. Backup everything you need from the HDD to CD/DVD (if possible, otherwise just link it up with a stationary and wait for the transfer…"

2.Format Laptop HDD

3.Install WinXP

  1. Voila,you got admin rights!

And if you cant restore the computer back to original shape before school starts again you can always blame a HDD failure and that you really HAD to reinstall some shit :tongue2:

Yes..i guess you can. I also saw your questions posted on EP too. Wether You can run it or not is a different story.

The hack that was given to you may work with SP1 but im not sure if it’ll work with SP2. The security in SP2 is certainly beefier.

Which is why I uninstalled it on my PC…lol

Then again..I have Admin rights…

My biggest thing here is that you could get into a rash of trouble messing with a laptop thats not yours, thats all.

About messing with somebody else’s laptop, well, I’m giving it back when school starts again to get a new, upgraded one, so I’m not too worried about that, and like knuckles said, just blame it on a comp problem

pain in the ass thing is that I have no disc drive; because they kept on getting broken and they decided they didn’t need them really, especially because it made installing games and other things a lot easier  - note:having games, music and stuff is actaully against the law due to some random thing here in france; don’t ask me why

I don’t really want to buy an external disc drive, i have no guarantee it would work either; if i had one i would of just reinstalled Windows…

laptops in schools? wow, you had to use your head, your hands and a pen when i went

My school is sponsored by AirBus

It can be done, and it can be done easily. Like most things of this nature though, you either know how or you dont.

I know, and I aint telling. Use some initiative, do some research. :wise:

:wise: This is also known as the ‘RTFM’ method. (research it, too!)

yeah the recovery mode soultion works on lots of comps just google it

Okay… I’m not going to mention obtaining a Linux boot floppy at all and the fact that it has the ability to reset all passwords on a PC.. even the administrator password… so go find out yourself! :wise:

It’s a very good security tool for IT professionals

And I’m not going to mention i don’t have a floppy or CD drive

I’ll go research…although the research I prefer is posting on a forum and waiting for the answers to roll in, although Dash gave me some usefull info on mIRC and all the info I got here, thankyou

Okay… then I’ll also not bother to mention that you can stick all this onto a USB pen rather than Floppy or CD

I always thought the best way to research sommat, was to go and ask someone who already knows? So your suggestions are to go out and read the explanations on another site? I Dunt get it?

FFS, get off ya high technical horses and help out here. RTFM my arse, lifes about enjoyin yaself, and not spendin ya life with ya head burried in a book about shit ya never gonna need, just so you can find the answer to one question.

Ultimababe’s solution sounds interestin. Any other interestin things that could be done?

I agree Beast.. information is free

This is a link to the information I’m talking about. It is used by many security professionals.

I’ve had to use it for my older brother’s PC when he forgets his passwords

Information may be free, but knowledge is power.

The linux boot disk is the solution that came to mind first, and it’s possibly one of the best, but there are other ways. Gimme a few hours to download my last 15 years of IT work into a rar file and upload it somewhere that way noone ever has to work anything out for themself.
