This has annoyed me for a while, when people type like retards. I can understand typos, bad english etc. but please follow these guides (add any if you feel like it)
Use . at the end of a sentence. That way we know where the sentence ends, and we can breath.
Bad: I was in vietnam lastweek we ate lots of good food then there was a giant boat that sank
Good: I was in vietnam last week. We ate lots of good food, then there was a giant boat that sank.
… is not the correct way to end a sentence. … is seldom to be used anyway, so please stop it at once.
Bad: And then … there was this fisherman… who walked over to me… He handed me a fishingrod… and some bait…
Good: And then, there was this fisherman, who walked over to me. He handed me a fishingrod, and some bait.
Please insert a paragraph once in a while.
Don’t overuse ! and ?. One is enough at the end of a sentence. More !'s won’t make it louder.
Bad: I’m not a scammer!!!
Good: I’m not a scammer!
I’ll admit my english is hardly the best and my spelling is just terriable.
I wonder if you’ll explode if I show you the message I get on my mobile phone.
lo hws u gnna cme c
yeah ok thats more than enough of it. I have often wondered if the school where I work has an English department, because none of the kids can speak, spell or even listen in English anymore.
I’m not very fond of sms-language either, but I do understand it. it just makes things so much more difficult, at least when you got 100 posts to read.
Suicide: that excuse is old. It’s the internet, but it still requires alot more from the reader if you write with your butt, just like it seems. I’m not pointing at major gramatical flaws, just the most basic ones. Punctuations should be a minimum.
I often make those mistakes. Though having the editer here helps me catch some of them. Part of my problem is writing is and has always been one of my worst subjects in school.
My reading and comprehension has always been relly well, but my writing always sucked. My math worse, and other “social studies” like geography and history was not great either.
Then again i live in a country that values new sports stadiums than paying teachers what they deserve and books. My learning disabilities never did and still dont help (like dyslexia). Being a BBSer for about 15 years did not help my spelling or typing either. On the other hand i am very good at reading and understanding typo, IMS speak, and a little bit of “l337” speak.
I also have difficulty knowing when to end a sentance or how to construct a paragraph, in spite of going over the same things in school most of my school days.
At least i am a littler more understandable than most
as far as… goes… my interperetation of it is as a long pause. As in much longer than a , and longer than a plain period.
as in did you hear about the guy with no arms and legs who was swimming in a pool?.. (long pause)… His name was Bob.
But im guilty of overusing it too much as well. comes from many years or bbsing i thinks.
I do use IM speak but only for IM as far as i am concerned a numberpad for a phone was never meant to type with. and the message space you get with SMS you have ot be creative in ways of getting as much info in one message as possable.
Thank goddess i dont have to type a whole post like this with my phone.

It is a way of ending a sentence like " ? " or " ! ".
Kay, from a french who loves the rhetoric, this kind of ‘Art of Eloquence’.
Okay, not sure I agree with most of those… <— especially that one. That is used by many to indicate a long pause like Kay-T said. We use it when a “.” or a “,” just isnt long enough.
As for “!!!” alot of people use this to express excitement ie. “Whoaaaa… just netted myself a 4k UBER on a snable!!!”
People cant hear us in text and that is why we express ourselves so OTT.
It is lack of punctuation and expression in posts is what really annoys me
