What is your opinion?
Trapping rocks!
There is no reason why you should waste money on extra decay if you can trap a mob, as long as you don’t use bugs.
Erf I dont like trapping and I dont like when some noob ubers on a trapped mob.
When I say noob I mean noob not not-elite-noob.
If you know what I mean..
I don´t like trapping either
I dont like some of the trapping that goes on when yes it is a blatant bug, but i can understand in nature that there may be natural traps that one could use to their advantage, even if this in PE is mainly because of the mobs bad AI in some cases. I think if this really is a problem for MA they will fix it but i dont think they mind
I guess i am in between on it
For skilling it might be ok, for profit no way.
for me trapping is a bug don’t abuse …

The decay is the income of MA if don’t pay it MA change the rule and it’s the other player who pay …
Go ahead and trap. Use the surroundings for your benefit as long as its not a bug !

Ok, I think trapping should only be allowed if you use BLP or Melee, that compensates for the loss on armor decay :silly2:
Loot should be dynamic, so that the faster you kill the mob, the more you get.
Example, let’s say the mob will drop 100 ped, you kill it with a mod something really quickly and get 100 ped. You kill it with a reasonable weapon and get 89 ped, still good. You kill it with an M2201 which takes a little over 40 minutes and get 12 ped.
Problem solved ?

That could be the way it is already.
Marco once said, long ago, that you would want to kill the mob as fast as possible…

Why would you punish people that kill things slowly?
It makes no sense at all.

I think that’s an indication that loot depends on time.
Meaning that if you kill 100 creatures in an hour you have more chance to loot one at the right time than when you kill only 1/hour.
I think trapping is ok as along as it is not a bug. And, I beleive Marco has stated the same thing. Some traps are intentional…

well it sound good on paper maybe..
but we all know how it would be,
just more noobs whining abut disadvantage on uber items blaah.blaah.blaah
![]()
and yes it is a difficult issue,
if some surroundings is ideal for trapping eg: big rocks in a formation that traps it, it cant get passed some narrow path, or fall down a hole.. okay I guess.. like some1 said taking advantage of the natural traps.. OR u urself can crawl into some narrow space, walls or similar so it cant reach u..
but mobs getting stuck on a stupid tree ? hmm well clearly a bug.. that I dont like.
same with some peeps using items like oildrum or bookcases to trap it ![]()

MA has said they dont take 100% of decays anyway.
I dont think a player can really affect MA’s incomes with decisions like “blp or lwt”, or “armor or not”. If all players would only trap with low decay adj/imp/mod weapons, MA would simply raise % they take from decays.

After Marco said it, ppl really exhaustively studied if killing mob with single shot raises loots. It didnt. People also studied if it means “as fast after spawning” and killed just spawned mobs with single shot - didnt affect loots.
Like I have said… Marcos words are taken and studied like religious texts
It’s all wrong. He probably deceived us.
I think I know now what it’s all about.
It’s the chaotic horoscope.
Anyway, on trapping:
I trap. I think it’s fine. Combat in PE is rather limited. There is no way to outsmart a mob. There is no such thing as ducking or jumping over. You cannot manually dodge ambulimax’s tail or duck under the atherex’s wing claw.
Animations exist, but they are just animations. Battle goes down to this:
You stand in an adjacent space to the mob, within attack range, and numbers are calculated. Damage versus defense points versus decay, etc.
The only tactic a solo hunter can possibly do is choose the best weapon for a certain mob. Tactic stops at the weapon choice. After that, it’s luck.
Now, for me, real tactics are:
-
Hiring runners or hunting in team, hence, luring mobs away into a more predictable terrain.
-
Using hard-to-pass landscape and decoys.
-
Using natural traps like rocks. An animal is furious, it gets stuck, injures itself, loses control in rage. There are plenty of roleplay reasons that can be used to explain why trapping is not bug abuse, but in fact, is logical.
Like, one time, I used to kill Warlocks by running into water, and swimming up, them being at the bottom. I shoot them from the top of the water, and bring down their health, while periodically luring them out of water to give them oxygen, so they dont die. Because they stay at the bottom most of the time, they could not hurt me, could not reach. That is strategy.
Another example of strategy is at the rig. When we climb high barricades to not let Atroxes get us. Yes, logically, Atroxes could jump the barricade. So what? You wanna cancel that too? Technically that is also trapping and bug abuse. The whole oilrig population had worked like this forever, it would never be the same again.

would..? uuhm it wont ever be the same again.. not sure if u been there lately but they changed that u cant climb the barricades anymore.. so yes they canceled it ![]()
Im totally against trapping, even though im using it from time to time :wise:
