Training are for newcomers

Idea: Training for newcomers

Hello, I recently posted the basics of the idea in this thread and got some good respons on that one so I thought that I could give it a shot and explain the idea I’ve been thinking of for a while.

The basic idea of this is to letting newcomers begin in some sort of training area where they can test all the profession for free but also not being able to loot anything that got tt-value. They will this way get the feeling on how PE works and it would be easier for them to put money into game if they knew the basic of all professions.

Now after I explain the basic I’m gonna explain more “advanced”-ideas and some “branch-ideas” ( please tell me if “branch-ideas” is something that you understand and/or if I could continue to use it ).

The first idea works like this that it would be like a training-camp to prepare the newcomer for the though life at Calypso. As a newcomer you will test the diffrent profession one at a time. As an example the newcomer could first of all be told all the basic controlls and how to work with interface ( quickbar and such ). After the newcomer had understood the basics of controlling your avatar they instructed about the basic of hunting. After the hunt instructions he/she will be dealt a weapon that doesnt uses ammo and a mission. The mission could be to kill 15 mini-robots( or anykind of unit ) and then return. When the mission is done they will be dealt some probes and bombs and get mission to mine up some 50 enmatter units and 50 ore units and still at same area as the snablesnot so they will be thought that they always should carry a weapon so or hire a hunter to protect them while mining. Now with the stuff found they will de dealt “Test-item blueprint” and be told basics of crafting and letting the newcomer to craft the item and then return. After they learned crafting they will be thaught about Mindforce, and let them get another mission tokill another 15 mini-robot and then return. Now the training could end and they will be send to Calypso or it will continue with some trading instructions, with mission, sweating with mission and some Beauty with missions and after that end and send the newcomer to Port Atlantis. All this training could also give the newcomer skill since it wouldn’t really matter if they get a few levels of everything while up their but it would make it more fun for them to see some progress on their avatar while up there.

The other idea is to make it a volunteer training area where does who want can go there and thoose who don’t want to they dont have too. There it could be exacly as the idea above or they will just be dealt some “toy-equipment” that is completly useless outside the training area.
With theese toy equipment they can kill some creatures and mine a bit. At this training room they can be gaining skills up to a limit that is set for the training or they will not be gaining any levels at all it could be taken in consideration what would work best but I think it will work a bit better and make the newcomer feel they are getting progress ( I know I meantioned this before but I had to meantion it again :tongue2: ) . But now this training room could be evolved too, to insert loots that could be valueable for the market such as sweat. I think this way to gather such items similair to sweat would be alot more appreciated by the newcomers instead of just stand still and sweat, you maybe also could make the mobs or the mining giving sweat to make it a more fun and easier way for newcomers to gather it. As for this it wou maybe help the mindforce users to get their sweat easier and hopefully cheaper.

I think this way of letting people learn the basic and get the feeling how PE works and hopefully it will help Mindark to get more depositers.I think people will stay longer as a “tester of the game” and easier to feel the whole game Project Entropia instead of just start playing, make some sweating and then leave game since sweating is really booring -I know that since I’ve done it myself.

So what do you guys think of theese ideas? Please come with both positive and negativ criticism and/or some ideas of you’re own about training for newcomers or evulate thoose ideas I’ve presented.

Off-Topic:
Is it possible to change title of thread? My title accidently had an extra word who change the meaning of thread completely.

Yes either like that or mission based training or remake sweat gathering into training+sweat gathering in one. I do hope MA makes somethig similair to let newcomers feel and test the “whole game” (well the basics of everything) before deciding wheter to stay or not.

it’s a good basic idea. However i’m not in favor.

The PE community has a certain type of ppl in it. I feel it is like that because of the way the whole newb experience is.

The people that like to be just bad ass and mean spiritied and lazy generally get scared off because they can’t be bothered to go and explore Calypso, deposit, sweat gather, or learn how PE all works.

I find PE is a realy thinking game and i think the PE community is the smartest gaming community in general. As we all do a lot of factoring and figuring out so we dont loose OUR money.

Also your idea kinda gets rid of the purpose of having a mentor.

I give my disciples missions and it often sifts out the bad disciples because it invovesl learning and/or working…

I actually think this is a good idea. How many times have i gone to Port Atlantis and seen newcomers not know what their doing? 100s of times. Personally, it makes me sick and tired of seeing newcomers just wandering around without a clue. Think of the amount of customers MA loses a year because they don’t have a good way of informing a player on how to play.

Well, i would be in favor for something of the sort.

Yes I could agree with you about that one but this training could also enlighten newcomers about the mentoring as a help to understand the more advance knowledge of the wild life in Calypso.

But you could make it as “training room” for volunteers where they are thaught nothing and maybe just gather sweat that way.

But most important to tell them how the whole game works before they leave game confused.

Thanks for your telling me your opinion about it.
