This '%' business

Newbie question.

You know when people ask for the price of things and they reply of you can sell them for about ‘500%’ what does this mean?

500 PEDS?

Confused

Affekt

500% = 5 times the value of an item

:> 1 PED @ 500% = 5 PED :: 1 PED @ 105% = 1,05 PED

easy like that

Ahh gotcha

Thats why on the auctions everything sells for alot more than the value price. In some circumstances.

They use pricing like TT+110% because of the fact that when the item is decayed it values less…so just stating I want to sell my Jester! for 20PEDs is just not enough…you can not compare prices with such way.

I suppose it is very confusing at the beginning…and you really need to keep track and view related webpages very often so you can tell which price is currently ok.

Those prices varies a lot! So do not hesitate to bargain.

mostly its minerals, enmatters and tailoring materials that goes inn % Clothing, for example goes for tt+(value) TT being the value that is stated in the info of the item (tt is short for terminal trade) that is the value you get if you sell a item to the terminal trade.
for example tt+15ped. tt+0.1ped etc.

Remember, if you have a mentor, check with him/her about prices before you buy anything  Dont want you to get ripped off!

It’s not so difficult when you understand the difference between the markup calculation on stackables vs Items.

Any stackable (like animal hide etc) is sold with a % markup. The reason for this is that no matter how big the stack is you still pay the same per single piece.

Items like weapons, armor, clothes and so on are sold based on a system of tt+X where tt is the value of the item, and +X is the amount of markup, in this case given in peds (or pecs (cents) for low markup items). the reason for this is that most equippable items can have varying tt value because they are repaired/used. and using persentages would be very complicated to calculate.

Some examples:

You want to buy an Jester D1 (a suitable gun for a new player) and you will ususally see a trader announcing this on the street in PA (Port Atlantis, (the city where you start)). Now lets say the trader wants tt+0.35 ped for it. you look at his selection and choose the one with the lowest tt-value, to spend less money at the start. Lets say its tt-value is 1.10 ped. You will then pay the trader 1.45 and he will have gained 35 pec profit and you a new gun.

Now lets say you take your newly aquired gun out for a small hunting test. and manage to kill a few creatures. if you’re lucky you might get some loot from them. including among others the animal hide mentioned above.

This stack of hide you can sell for more money than the value you can see when you right click it (that is the tt value of the stack). Now one piece of hide has a value of 0.01 ped (i.e. one cent) and if you have 100 of them it will be one ped. Now again you will usually seek out a trader this time anouncing that he is buying all hides, at 110% for example. Now as the value of you’re 100 hides is 1 ped and 110% of 1 is 1.10 (1 * 1.1), you will want to get 1 ped and 10 cents from the trader.

Some exeptions :

There are a few exeptions to this rule. the most notably for a new player is the socalled “Vibrant Sweat” vich has a tt value of Zero (effectivly) this is sold at pure markup (like if tt is 0 and markup is 3pec per bottle, 0+3 is 3 obviously).

Another exeption is items wich can be bought from the Trade Terminals that you can see around towns/service centers. this never have any markup of any kind, and most people who tell you othervice are usually scammers. (items in this category includes ammo (stackable) and Items like Omegaton Fast Aid Pack FAP-5)
