the new deer Mall

120 items less would be a lot shop keepers. Only one help not much. each keeper use 6 item points and give then 20 item points. And, there are more deer mall shop owners damaged by MA ! not only moonfish and me. we really will have our shop deed back and all item points in same stats as it was before vu9.4. Moonfish shop = 180 items / Trance make up = 150 items

Trance, I can understand your frustration completely, I myself have been out of bussiness for over 4 months now with no idea on when my business as a hairdresser and beaution will restart. Xmas for a beautician

But MA is not to blame, FPC is, and Marco is the boss of FPC now. As the boss of FPC Marco can simply tell MA to change the perameter that controls item points for your shop.

There is no excuse for what has happened to you. You paid for a shop with 150 item points, period. Marco/FPC owes you 150 item points nothing less.

Wait and see, if Marco doesn’t smarten up and fast mabe we should move all the styling and beauty services to Next Island and give David Post who is in charge of the the company that ownes that world a chance at our investements and deposits.

Then mabe Marco/FPC will start to understand that we are the customers, and we pay his salery, and that it is what we want, not what he wants, that is important, and that withought us he is gona be in the unemployment line.

There are other planets getting ready to open, thats called compition and I think Marco is about to get a crash corse on customer satisfaction and the consequences of not taking his customers wants seriously and treating us with disreguard.

shame on you FPC. This is beyond forgivable, there are no excuse at all. You have customers that at some point bought a deed with a certain item limit, Then you cant just change it… altho it probably says so in the eula somewhere.
It serves no purpose at all, the old shops worked fin with that amount of items, so why shouldnt they with the new super duper gfx engine

MA/FPC or who ever is not disputing that moonfish owned a shop they are saying its not got any ped value ! i.e. he got it for nothing , even if that was true he is STILL entitled to the same item count he had before .

To summarize this thread

Here is a brief summary of events leading up to the current situation

Known Issues VU 8.9 - 7th Feb 2007

Thorkells Cave shops are auctioned and are closed after they are sold due to bugs and are never fixed - possibly a design bug - players are eventually offered they peds back and offered 1st choice when the shops are put right - they are never fixed. Link here

Pre VU10.2
New Oxford is never quite finished, well its a ghost town for years on end. Simple things to give it life, like storage or a few crafting terminals are never added - The future of New Oxford never happens.

VU10.2
New Oxford Mall was removed. It seems the flow of information resulted in it being deleted or simply forgotten about.
Many things are missing and we are told things across the game are to be implemented over time

27/10/09
Marco behrmann - sends shop owners emails and apologizes for the mess up & offers to buy back the shops and offer a choice of a new shop or the buy back amount along with 1 years free rent (240 ped).

This seems positive, until you find out that the amount the shop is worth is dependant on the last amount it was traded for - traded being passed to & from an avatar or traded in auction.

So if you traded the shop for an item say 100 papalon 50 mann pistols and 6 sets of Vigi, your shop would be worth the ped value of those - this might amount to 1000 peds. The simplistic offer to replace the shops for the last trade could mean a UBer item valued at 30K - with a tt on 1000 ped - values the trade at 1000 ped. This works in the TT machine - but we didn’t TT our shops - they had value different shops different sizes different values - some worth 15K some worth 30K.

I see a failure in the flow of information in this transition to create the New ā€˜New Oxford Shops’ The simplification seems to be taken from the Thorkells Cave shops - these shop I don’t think in the majority were traded because they were bugged and never fixed and so it is easy to offer the ped purchase to those owners in return for the deed - but the other other shops that have been in use are different and will of been traded or moved around many times - they have a different value. It may seem hard to put a value on them pre the latest up-date, but its not that difficult.

I look forward to hearing from marco & support and for them to realize that there is a distinction between the 2 sets of shops - I feel for the Thorkells Cave shop owners they have been messed about since 7th Feb 2007.

The New Shops / offered
The new shops offered in New Oxford to the shop owners have item counts well below some of the original shops - eg - i have been offered 55 item points for my 180 - this is nothing near what I originally had - 3 shops wouldnt add up to the same points.

We would like a fare and just outcome to the problem, wouldnt you - compensation is another thing - I think shops need to be addressed case by case - looks like there are 23 new shops, i presume there are 23 shop owners who are looking for a soln and a fare outcome.

I would also like to grattzzz Buzz Lightyear on his venture and wish him well.

This is a new year for us all, lets try to make it a positive one.

Is there a list of the prior VU10 shops and owners and what their shops were allowed to sell items wise?

And then we can compare this with what they have now.

There is hope and precident for what I consider decent meaningful game/sales improving compensation.

Wow - I would have really expected Marco to reply to this thread at some point other than the deleted post he misatakenl posted.

I feel for all of you, at one time I was looking at buying a small shop (not in the malls) or a booth and am glad I decided to not do that.

Really a shame how this has played out.

Nonsense.

For all practical uses regarding bugs (etc.): MA is to blame.
It’s their platform, their code, their support, their decisions.

FPC was just spun off MA to create a smokescreen.

He’s probably just enjoying the holiday with his family, as he should be.

I’m saddened to hear about this :(

I must say I do understand that IF MA/FPC thought about the item points in the mall transition, then their thinking could have been that the free rent and move to a nicer/more accessible mall makes up for the item points lost.

Problem is, to everyone else, it doesn’t. Understanding why a client would purchase such a virtual item is key, and surely in this case that understanding would have given greater importance to item points.
For me, the above is the minimum compensation I would expect to have to give clients to make up for the sudden disappearing act of the old mall, items within the shops and instant cessation of income for all effected shop owners.

I genuinely hope that this is properly addressed after the holidays.
I can see no wisdom or excuse for not providing comparable item points for existing shop owners in the new mall.

IF there is a legitimate reason for the same item points numbers not being achievable in the new mall (ie. programming/engine/MA restrictions) then I would expect that they can at least provide shopkeepers to make up for the missing item points.
IF this option is also not achievable (Although I really cannot think of why that would be the case), then I would hope they would realise that taking a possible cut in income by merging 2 shop spaces or decreasing item points on currently unowned spaces is insignificant in comparison to the negative impacts that could result from changing the key aspect of a virtual item that had already been purchased.

In cases such as Moonfish’s, I think they could easily agree on a reasonable ped value to offer the shop owner if they no longer wish to own the shop (Due to the changes the shop owners had no control over). This issue is far from being the largest one in the grand scheme of things, but it is significant nonetheless and is relatively easy to provide a solution for.

Of course, this takes a little more work, but personally, I still can’t understand why MA/FPC do not have a dedicated individual in charge of ā€˜investor’/customer relations. The vast majority of these type of issues would quickly become non issues if they could be handled by a dedicated individual.

These type of problems are becoming so prevalent and ultimately undermine the potential of Calypso from any investors point of view.
Having just one staff member in charge of handling all communications/compensation/complaint handling for all shop, apartment, hangar and LA owners would have prevented alot of these issues and the cost of staffing would pale in comparison to the benefits that staff member would provide.

(I am referring to base clients of this nature, not owners of more significant ā€˜items’ such as CP, TI and CND.. although things would certainly be smoother in those areas also if a dedicated staff member was provided to handle the relevant complaints/issues/requests etc. of those individuals)

I do appreciate that FPC is relatively new and has essentially been thrown into a mine field rife with communication issues between themselves and MA and all that is the result of the changes that accompany such a massive task as the upgrade to the new engine.
It is also the holiday period and as such I can understand that staffing may still be on the ā€˜to do’ list.

But truly, client/customer relations is business 101 level and surely by now they can see the direct impact of the lack of these on baseline profits.
I must say, personally I believe individuals such as Marco are doing a great job considering, but they can’t do it all and I really think that the time has passed where they could get by on a base skeletal staff unit.

OK enough ranting, I do hope that the item points issue is resolved to the satisfaction of all after the holidays.

And FPC, please please please hire someone to take on client relations management and handle all cases such as this, as soon as humanly possible! It would free up key FPC staff to focus on the running of Calypso and smooth the transition on the whole.
This is only one of many issues likely to arise that require MA involvement to provide a solution, having someone to look after your customers when this is the case, would truly make a world of difference. You can never please everyone, but you CAN please the majority and with a dedicated individual for these type of cases, make it far more likely that you’ll be able to provide a solution or at least, appropriate support, for all.

Cheers :beerchug:,

I need to correct myself. I saw the post that Marco posted and deleted with the followup reply almost 10 days ago and made my statement based upon that post. I thought if he had made a quick statment then I was suprised he had not come back to the thread.

However he did come back to the thread and make a post on Xmas day which I apparantly missed until a moment ago.

Still the length of time these people have gone withour their shops and then to have them reduced in item count is wrong.

I am not normally one to speak out as I play EU for fun & take what MA throws my way; but this is not fun

It is very simple, PE/EU/FPC call it what you will ! is only still running because of community of core players; players that make real investments, shop, land & apartment owners.

Equally, when you buy something (anywhere whether IRL or ingame) you buy it as seen /described …so 180 items is 180 items, 100 metres from the TP is 100 metres ! , if the skirt is black then it should be black !

The core (not those who trade in high value items for just for profit & leave) players have invested much more just money in developing a world that MA has & continues to openly sell to both casual players & serious business partners.
This world is sold to anyone who has funds enough to ā€˜invest’ is a persist world (one that continues to exist (as is) even you a single player is no long in it)

MA decided to change EU (rebuild it using Cry2) in VU 10 without being able to recreate what they already had, already sold to thousands of players or those that have invested (MA’s own sales pitch ) .
As most of us know MA have been building PE/EU for years & still they have not finished it. MA’s amateur approach to the game development over the years has had its charm along with its downright stupidity. The development of new bugs along with every new feature has been accepted by the core players; we report it, they patch it which conflicts with another feature causing another bug etc.
All of this over the years we have accepted their 'suck it & see ’ approach to online game development & management because it is different & YES dare I say it dynamic

Let be honest here MA are not nor have they ever been a major a games developer - one game that they haven’t perfect it yet is not a great track record; they are not in the same online league as Sony, Ncsoft or Blizzard.

However, somehow it really hasn’t matter before as we always got ā€˜what it said on the tin’. We as players have trusted MA to deliver very basically what we expected, even if it doesn’t quite work.

What MA needs to understand before it is too late is that we the long term players keep the game alive, pay their wages, promote it , teach new players & make it possible for them to sell parts of it off ,broker partnership deals (planets); without players there will be no EU.

As a footnote: I considered seriously make a deposit to bid on CP however my level-headed wife (bless her, a non gaming person) looked careful at the numbers in my analysis & consider that the numbers added up to interesting investment despite the obviously need that MA has for cash flow (hence the sale).
MA support was very quick to answer my questions (the same day) about the sale on CP; something can not always be said of genuine support issues which effect their investor’s confidence & livelihoods.
However, the one thing that prevented us from make an investment was risk.. not the risk of not recouping the investment based hard work & good land management but risk of MA changing the world dynamics & diluting the chances of profitable return.

I feel for all those shop & land owners who have had their property changed, downgraded or devalued by MA’s decision not to treat their ā€˜Investors’ fairly.

An open question to anyone from MA/FPC willing to speak up & answer it:

Why should any player (investor) buy anything within EU if we will not get the item/property as described /as seen? After all trades are final!

WTF?!

So if I were to buy a shop, and traded 1.000.000 ped for the deed, then asked in a second trade the 1.000.000 ped back, then the shop is worth 1.000.000 ped?

Everyone should trade forth and back their deeds now, so they get listed as worth hundred thousands peds when you will be compensated, how stupid is that?!

Maybe you can trade your uber item with a friend back and forth for nothing, and MA closed doors or banned your avatar? What does the EULA say, you get your tt value (of the uber item) or the deposited value (which was nothing to buy the item with, thus nothing).

ok, i have to agree that i missed the thread cause of the title which didnt catch my attention and the msg in my profile made me look at it

also, i didnt read the whole thread (close to 1 am here), but the first post, the post of moonfish the profile linked to and a few others, but i can guess pretty well the rest in between

this is seriously nuts
i know the lazyness of MA/FPC/support cause of my ambu clothing problems, which is worth like 2k where they asked me for patience (over a year ago, just for the notes)

but this here is nuts
what the hell is this

buy a car with leather seats, golden interior and the guy who sold you comes and takes the gold out and offers you to pay 1 cent per kg?

lol

i really feel with you guys, thats so nuts that it makes me angry
so much stuff which is ignored and even devalued and ignored while useless stuff noone really needs is implemented (read tiers for example)

i can understand the tt value of last trade reason in a way, but come on :stuck_out_tongue:
MA knows every well what the stuff is worth
if i remember correctly, there used to be a bug once a guy reported, with the bps, when MA was so happy it got reported that they offerend him to choose a gift
up to XXXX ped or so MARKET value, so he couldnt choose a mod fap
where was the tt reason there

i really hope it gets fixed for you or that you get a considerable refund, just for the trouble you had

just nuts, im so sorry for you guys
