The Mindark decision to change mining recently

I am calling this out ahead of time because I don’t want the game to die. Out of all the sky is falling threads over the years and all of the crying wolf, the 1 that will 100% without a doubt do us in is the recent mining change. There will be no future for this game without mining. With a 3-4x bigger rake (2-3% to the new 10%) on taxes there will be no miners. With no miners there is no crafting. With no crafters there is no Hunting. This is the basic foundation of the game so on this decision I am totally mind boggled by it. The very last profession we have where you have to actually be at the computer to push buttons and see how loot returns work with minimal skill/investment to then trust hunting/crafting just got demolished, -20% mining over last month and that’s only because of stupid people like me still testing (hoping +praying) that they didn’t do what we know they did. So please Mindark open your eyes to be able to see this for the love of the game. Hurry the hell up and revert it back, the Data is in! You were doing so good, got rid of the mining bots and me and others were about to go to town on mining because of it, only to get destroyed by the new insanely high tax. No one will pay 120% for lyst/oil/iron and 1000% for redulite/putty/ignisium in this day and age. And don’t turn me into a scammer to sell my 100k ped+ in mining gear on some unsuspecting soul who didn’t know about this rug pull change. Once other players who don’t track as thorough or read forums figure this out too they will also be gone.

Help the game and send in support cases on fixing mining if you value the game or your own investments in your gear. Even if you just hunt you know the outcome this change will cause.

I’m not a miner at all tbh, so I have no stake in this…
I know if they did that to hunting people would notice, and I’d for sure not play anymore.
Perhaps they are planning on adding Mining Looter skills for the Mining Loot 2.0 update? Or they want to motivate people to go more space mining instead?
I do hope this is a mistake and they are not taking steps to actively screw their mining playerbase.
@Socrates|Mindark please investigate this if big time miners are saying the same thing, it must be true?

I called it 2 years ago.

That you did. But when they killed off competition type setup where the ubers get more and can sustain while everyone strives to be up there and grinds towards it and profitability it killed off the game the way it was and many left so you were right about that but a skeleton crew remained. Now I’m talking literal game death, sky fell and crushed us all kind where not even a skeleton crew remains. There’s time to fix it, hope they do for all our sakes.

There probably isnt a “tax” in SPACE like on Calypso. There they dont have to share % like with CLDs.

I know Socrates just said “That is False” but everything points to it.

Ya thats true it’d wreck CLDs and and cyrene with their mining backpack which will be rendered useless but they would just have to give the cash to neverdie instead of the players. This change would make it so there is less deposits because of people losing faith in investing inside the game on deeds and lose faith in investing in gear since they can just get rugpulled scammed on a random super high tax change rendering the gear useless like with me. So are they trying to purposefully kill the game. But then they do dynamic events and updates like they aren’t trying to purposefully kill the game. Just nothing makes any kind of sense. They already got neverdies money so wouldn’t they rather get new deposits from trusting in ingame deeds and gear instead? Wouldn’t anyone even someone who never played the game before know 3 to 10% tax change would be bad for the game longterm? My mind is boggled by this lol

mining is extremely painful at the moment but you can still make small profit if you focus on mu or at least cover most tt loss. i am just a idiot not focusing enough on mu

but i have to admit mining was always way too good  lets hope it gets a bit better again with some time…

Sounds like hunting. ?

Beside lacking looter “skills” in both mining and crafting, one could assume they are balancing it out to work the same?

Always “assumed” that all 3 professions work the same TT return wise, if we ignore hunting needing looter skills. Same system diff skins so to speak. If that was the case miners had quite an advance over others. Not to mention better MU:s overall.

Nice, can’t wait to loot UL weapon

Yes all hunters loot UL gear every day. ?

I’d take steady MU over long turnovers any day. Compared to looting extremly rare UL once a year or never.

Don’t remember saying everyday but at least there is still a chance :ROFLMAO:

Have you hunted 100K sample on single mob? I never counted for that chance and it went as expected.

Sure one profession having something over another is always unfair. Perhaps it’s due to poor design choise.

But base system TT return wise should be equal to all and work the same.

I’m sorry, what are we talking about again?

You used being able to loot UL item as argument for mining not having looter skills or need to pay rake %.

I’v pointed out that i didnt loot UL in 100K kills sample size but had worse TT return % and no MU to recover from it.

Imagine you dropping 100K probes and never looting the thing you are after. Or as in “old system” hitting zero HoF:s while at it.

It is not that likely to average joe hunter loot good MU stuff. Such as UL gear. But avg joe miner had good MU:s altho more volatility and better TT return %

Is that fair?

Edit: Sorry about offtopic i’l sush now.

I have dropped a hell of a lot of probes to not obtain any dunkel as an example. Also at the same time we have literally 0 chance to loot rare hunting items that have markup whether its ESI’s, UL Armors, Catalyst, Shards… so on I should have just stated all that. All miners have is average markup to continue going forward and once that crumbles then we just don’t mine anymore. At least with hunting you can go farm out gear even if you don’t loot any in 100k sample size. Also please stop talking to me like I don’t cycle hunting, I very much do.

I’m just a stupid hunter that really doesn’t care for mining, but I have no idea what “change” is even being talked about here with mining? Its not clear from the initial post what exactly you’re referring to??

My bad I edited it to be more clear but there was other posts about it too

If you mine you get absolutely wrecked now 10% tax is extremely painful

To me the worst part isn’t even that they did it, but that they did it without saying a word and Socrates trying to play it off like nothing happened.
