The Loot-system and the Axes

There have been a lot of discussions and threads on different forums regarding the loots on Project Entropia. So I thought I’d take up my theory and see what you think about it.

Now, this is just my theory, so don’t flame me for it if you think I’m completely wrong, just tell me why it’s wrong.

I’ll start this post with a question: Am I the only one who’ve noticed something different regarding the Rep Edge Axe 1x0 if you compare it with the other axes?

The reason why I’m asking you this is because of the stats on the different axes, and no. It’s not about the decay; it’s about the damage types. Here’s a list of the currently known Rep Edge Axes and their damage types:

RepEdge Axe 1x0:
Cut Damage: 19
Impact Damage: 5
Electric Damage: 5

RepEdge Axe 2x0
Cut Damage: 31
Impact Damage: 5

RepEdge Axe 3x0
Cut Damage: 47
Impact Damage: 9

RepEdge Axe 4x0
Cut Damage: 75
Impact Damage: 14

RepEdge Axe 5x0
Cut Damage: 79
Impact Damage: 16

Now, didn’t you notice something different with the Rep Edge Axe 1x0?
Yeah, that’s right. It’s the only axe in the whole serie that does electricity damage, and am I completely wrong here? Or isn’t it completely unrealistic for something made of steel and wood to do electricity damage?

So, this is what I think. I think that somehow the stats were messed up on the Rep Edge Axe 1x0, resulting in an additional 5 points of electricity damage. Of course this increased the economy on the axe aswell. Here’s the stats with and without electricity damage:

RepEdge Axe 1x0
Total Damage: 29
Decay: 5.6 Pec
Dmg/Pec: 5.18

RepEdge Axe 1x0 - Without Electricity damage
Total Damage: 24
Decay: 5.6 Pec
Dmg/Pec: 4.29

As you can see, the economy would be more realistic for a low-end weapon without the electricity damage. The Rep Edge Axe 1x0 is currently the only weapon with such a high economy. And it’s also a low-end weapon, which makes it even weirder.

I think the game has either automatically or manually balanced after this weapon, as. If you can’t break even with a weapon that does 5.18 dmg/pec ( 3.50 dmg/pec for someone with decent skills )

Then how would it be possible to break even with a weapon that does 4.40 dmg/pec ( 2.97 dmg/pec for someone with decent skills?

Incase the RepEdge 1x0 user does 66% average damage:
You would have to do 74% average damage in order to get the same economy as the axe using the Improved A-3 Justifier Mk.II.
You would have to do 84% average damage in order to get the same economy as the axe using the A-3 Justifier Mk.V.

acctually no it isnt… think about how ppl made fire in the early days.. :wise:

appart from that. good point here.

as for the elect dmg mabey 1xo’s are made up of something that causes massive static electricity haha.

can i add my theory:

What if MA put that extra dmg on purpose as an experiment. They figure hey lets give newbs a new starter weapon for mellee thats realy economical but wont seem that great beacuse they wont have the skills yet either. And if it realy screws up we can always say the electrice dmg was a bug and mistake and they’lll correct it. But seeing that ppl can’t resist to use bigger badder weapons and not EVERYONE sticks to axes(could you image if everyone played the economical game?) that it’s ok to keep that extra dmg in.

Give ppl like me who are paitient and can accept hunting the smaller mobs (although i enjoyed taking out a hyru mature yesterday with only an axe) and break even. I swear MA listend to my rant about short hunts because lately i’ve been using the same 3 axes over and over for 12 hunts now. only doing 1-2 of them per hunt.

Well, yeah. They made fire with sparks caused by striking flint and metal together. And it would be kinda hard to create fire by chopping an axe into flesh and blood.

Yeah. I guess it could be an experiment. Noone would ever find out anyway, right?
But, you’re right, it’s great for those who can’t afford high-end equipment to go after bigger mobs. But, from another point of view, it’s hard to skill on low-end mobs using any other weapon than the axe.

The axe is still very limited due to it’s low dmg/sec though, as you say, so it couldn’t be used on any bigger creatures without loosing some efficiency.

So I guess it’s both good and bad.

mobs loot pec, right? that is metal, thus it is possible to make fire… but offcourse im way of track

and yes i do like the high economical starter weapen, becouse it gives u a chance to break even or profit

Im sorry but i dont Think PE is Balanced after the Repedge Axe.
Let me Spread my own Theorie and compare if its not more likely than MA Adjusted all loots to the Axe.

I think PE is extremly Dynamic. Its Necessary because a Static System could screw MA if some Parameters Change. I think they have a Big Statistics Programm that Calculate the DMG of all Users and arrange the Loots around this.

Lets say ma charge back a Fixed Ammount of Earned Peds for Example 80% back as Loot. The Programm Monitore the Income , decide how mutch Average Dmg is made and set the Loot Pool around it. So if Everyone would Hunt with Axe 1x0 Lootpool would lesser than everyone Hunt with a Weapon that make 2 dmg/pec. I guess MA is trying to Bring more Interessting Weapons in PE with low dmg/pec to incrase the Feelt Lootpool. Its always 80% in my Example that goes back but it will feel mutch more Loot if you need more to Spend to kill something. Because People want High and good Loots it may a clever Idea to expense the Killing by Raising Maturety Level and Bring in Low Dmg/Hp Wepaons.

I think its a Mix of all Weapons and Axes have only that Influence that made by really Using. And if you not an Über with Überevade you wont Kill the good Mobs with an Axe 1x0

But yeah i love my Axe 1x0
They make me almost Brake Even but its soooo boring

I think this is the perfect definition of “balance” ingame.
So it’s all good
I do agree on your point btw  I guess it’s about the same as the ek-2500 deluxe, except this time it has a positive side.

Does anyone else remember the whole “Why do scopes and lasers not decay” post on the old PE Forums???

Man, this reminds me of that nervously looks around

Hmm I didnt know this. It might have gotten messed up like you said. But if MA knew about it would they have drop so many axes as they have done?

Oh God! I agree with DD! LOL LOL
Nice stats Recoda… but I do hope Marco doesn’t notice this post

I just hope it’s not a bug .. but you bring up a great point. If it is a bug they better turn it into a feature, MA is good at doing that.

Many times MA have stated that they dont like changing the stats of an ingame item. If they decide that the axe is indeed bugged then I’d expect them to make it stop dropping and substitute it with something else.

Or, they may do like they did with pregold stuff and make it so once repaired the item will assume the correct stats, but I find this unlikely.

Yes - let my axes be as they are actually. They are my new love and help me to break even, after spending a lot of PEDs in other items
