Team looters Vs single looters

W00t. Another open door.

In the past, when I would hunt with Lanksia and Ash a lot, we’d team up, slap items to Queued, money to Equal, and kill anything that moved. A lot of times this ended up in Lanksia and me getting Wool for 4 PEDs, FAPs, and other neat little items (I looted loads of Axes for instance), while Ash would get 3 hides, 1 wool, etc.

Last night I was hunting argos with the Nun-in-Thong, and looted quite well. One time I got 13 PEDs of Iron, another time I got 20 Peds. The poor nun got 4 PEDs of Wool.

I wonder if others have noticed similar things? By themselves, a lot of these people will lookt decent. When they team up though, they are somehow usually left with the shortest straw.

Is this pure coincidence? (added later when thinking of something) Will these guys just get a big fat item at some point? Are some people just not meant to teamhunt? (If so, do you feel this ought to be something they should be able to influence? You can be the avi with the luckiest teamhunt settings, but if you’re not a very social person and prefer to hunt alone, you’d be screwed)

(Perhaps the nun is not a good example. She has looted 20 ped items in the past when we were teamed up. And come to think of it, Ash did get a barber’s chair worth 45 ped once).

Discuss?

Its not really a problem for me, because i only team hunt with soc members or very good friends, and we always sell all items at the end of the hunt and split the money

Its a good idea to have some sort of arrangement at the start of each team hunt for the distribution of items

It would definetely come in handy if you looted something like shadow armor

Frankly the only “fair” way to handle the items is “Random” the others simply dont work as intended.

But the best of all is to have a trusted leader that takes all and work it out after the hunt, if that’s not availiable then random.

On some points I noticed the same …

I rarely teamhunt anymore as I find the loot in team mostly far worse then when looting alone. If you follow the theory somewhere that loot is determined by the avatar looting and the location, then it’s a logic consequence that one avatar will recieve better as the other. Can’t say it for sure ofcourse, but on a number of hunts I either received almost nothing (and mostly hunting with better-skilled), and on other occassions I constantly looted while the other avatar didn’t get much. Think the recieved items themselves depend on your skills maybe…

Heya VF

I feel a little bit sorry for your nun…She is a nice girl…
Point is it happens to me like all the time too.
I have only one team hunt that I remember where (using the same loot distribution system) I managed to be the lucky one…and lucky only if u consider a ~6 ped mindforce implant to be such a great deal…

So yes, I preffer hunting alone when aiming for peds and team hunt when wanting to have some fun…Fun is important too

I am always the lucky one in the teamhunts and Oaks can bitter confirm it :tongue2:

Noobah :tongue2: forgot to add one thingie. When we hunt in team, all sellable items which we don`t use go to auction and we split the dough. This way no one profits WAY more than the other.

Hmm, cannot trust my memory well in these matters - it is so selective hehe.
My pet theory is that there is a hidden luck variable, which brings sometimes
good times and sometimes bad times, call it Lootius. And it may be long 3-5 month cycles if it is there.

And there could be a self-learning “individual-based addiction
strengthening algorithm”, which feeds us with loots which keep us
hunting while still milking us. It would be completely legal to add such
an algorithm in this kind of game. In fact I am greatly interested in
designing such algorithms, and even have implemented some :girl: .

Another thing is that people do damage different ways and with different weapons. Some have good carbines, but no good long range or close range weapons. That could lead to a permanent difference in a team from some
hidden aspect.

One thing is how fast a player wants a “correction” to the situation. I mean
how long a team member can stand bad loots – and that does not mean only how desperate the player is to make profits but does he decide the mob and the spot on first three kills or first 45 minutes.

Fun factor is -uhm- funny, since sometimes one player wants to make
serious business while other team member wants to have fun, and these
motives are not always clear in the beginning, not even to the person
itself. Some sociodrama unfolds in the backwoods then.

It is useful to get into random teams and see how teams are “managed”
under different team settings and different societies. For example,
dmg/dmg -teams may be OK if turns are taken so that each one can cash
an animal sometimes, roughly approximating the dmg made. Or dmg/dmg
team can be nice when people hunt “solo”, but need occasional help.
And it is useful if you want to observe how not only you but your pals
manage.

And leader-takes-all, well, it is OK for me if I know that the person can get good vibes from the after-math. The sharing of loots can be a thrilling experience, but then I usually want to log off already…

G thank you Sharyn - so are you

Someone told me some weeks ago, that it could be connected to the person who is making the team? I find the thought interesting - can anyone confirm/disprove this theory? And also if loots are bigger if the person, who makes the team has the highest perception skills?

And dont be sorry for me not getting any iron .. I will get some sooner or later

Keep faith .. some day Lootius will return your prayers… I still wait for the 58K HoF I deserve for praying so much my knees are nearly teared apart .. But the priest told me to

Hi all,

Is it just me or are we missing something simple. Breaking even is based on skill. HOF’s are based on Luck. My personal luck can dictate my loots but isn’t there also a little skill called Serendipity. I am intensely interested in the effects of this skill on loot chance. What else can it effect? If this has been asked and answered before then I apologise but… What if it mostly comes down to this?

i think its just luck,i hunt with the same rules as you and i dont usually mind what loots i get coz i get cool skill exp, you might want to try using the random item rule or the damage determines.
however if your ut to make people happy its good if you use the leader takes all option so u can split them accordingly at the end of the hunt, happy hunting

What we have always done in team hunts - and has worked very well.. is to set the PEDs at equal and set the items for “Leader takes all”. This way the cash is split up right away… and after the hunt the leader just splits all items with the team members.

If an item is worth putting on auction - the leader does it and splits the PEDS after the sale.

And in the rare case that something really good is looted… example a shadow piece.. then who ever wants it the most buys our the share in the item to the other team members.

Has worked for us and it will work for you

It has also been my experience that leader-take-all-items is the only fair way to go when team hunting. Sell it all off at the end of the hunt, distribute equally. I usually only hunt with one other person and when in that situation one or the other almost always gets screwed on items. Much more fair to give all an equal share in the looted items unless somebody is hunting with D1 and someone else with a Maddox IV or whatever…
