Well most know im New and i started with PE around 1 Week bevore the Appartments got Implemented. Estate Prices are Pretty High they are something Special. The Hype on Appartments was big and everyone looked forward to get one or maybe more. Hell there was even Panic you couldnt get one because they sold out in a few Hours. The First day Appartments found into PE almost 1/3 got Instantly selled.
People promised a new Impulse for the Funiture Marked, Ideas about Lending Appartments was around.
Well now some Weeks after Appartment Introdution the Page Numbers of Auctionated Appartments is growing again. Something went Wrong.
So a few Toughts why the new Appartments have not the Success they should have.
First the Location :
If you dont have any Teleporters on the new Continent you have to Run from Treasure Island whats Miles away and the Mobs around are Pretty hard.
Second : PvP
I wanted an Appartment but as i heard they into PvP Zone i gave up my Plans. Why ? I think i would use an Appartment as a Homeroom to Rest when Tired of Hunting or Trading and invite Friends for Chatting and Relaxing. Having a Look at the Sea from the Roof and maybe a little Roleplaying. But you can die anywhere , anytime even killed by Your Guests in your own Appartment. Playerkiller lurk around the Complexes making a fun of killing you.
Well thanks, but thats not a Location where i want to live. Who want to live in a Town where Crime Rate is High and the chance you get Murderd too ? That was the most dissapointing Point for me on the Appartments.
There is still a Lack of Funiture and the Abilitys to Costumize your Appartment to your personal Style. People forced to set Anything they can get (because they happy they even get something) into their Appartments. Now the Doors got Removed for better Performance , hmm Privacy ?
Well that are my Thoughts why Appartments arnt the Sucess they should be.
Thats my Oppinion and i dont say they correct or the only point of viev you can have. Other People surely enjoy Pking near Appas and would miss it. But over 30 Pages on Estates in Auction and the Tryes from People to sell the Appas again for Non Profit speak another Language. When only 10% from the Accounts active who Announced from MindArk its even less than 1% who buyed an Appartment.
I would gladly Spend 450 PEd or more for an Appartment in Ithaca or Twin Peaks. But this New Continent and PvP Zone Thanks but no Thanks. …
Regards
Fiona
Edit :
Hit the Wrong Forum , sorry Mindbuster
Can you please move it to Housing and Lots ?
Yes, all that probably affects the market somewhat. But all the TPs should be taken anyway, the PK’ing has been much better recently and more mobs drops furniture (not enough to meet the demand tho so prices are high).
But I think that youre missing the most important reason..
That is: The demand on small apartments are way lower than Mindark seems to have expected. Most people want a medium or a large and are willing to pay the initial higher cost because the monthly rent is the same.
I mean, who doesnt want a balcony??
I think MA will make more medium apts and less smaller ones when (if)they release the next bunch of apts.
I think they should give people more reasons to hang out around the apartment buildings. It wouldn’t hurt if they opened up some of the shops for instance…

there will be shops look around the ground floor you just have to wait a bit give them time.
theres no point putting somthing in game thats not ready :wise:
and we still have front doors its just the inside doors that have been removed. :tongue2:

You have much to learn Grasshopper. Seriously though. Apartments have been a desired item for a LONG time now. And IMO they were implemented in a MUCH better fashion than anything else in the history of this game. Sure things could be better. But, when you have seen the past, this is like perfection…
As for the number of them on auction. Alot are ppl trying to upgrade and alot are land speculators.
Fiona’s concerns are voiced by many, but I must say that i do disagree… here’s my personal rebuttal
-Location and tp’s. Yes every1 needs every tp… end of issue. Sure it’s no fun getting those Amethera tp’s, but we all have to do it. We all have to get them on Eudoria as well.
pvp IS an issue to many ppl. Personally, I get pk’ed in genesis star ocassionally, but mostly the pk’ing has subsided. Sure you are always at risk, but it just doesn’t happen much unless you have a lot of enemies. As for getting pk’d in your apartment… you can CLOSE your apartment You can only be pk’ed inside by ppl YOU invite in or if it’s public.
I frankly like the fact that ppl you invite inside can pk you b/c it makes your apartment like a skilling ring. I don’t use the ring often, but when I do I like to go to an empty ring with a single friend and not have to worry about a bunch of other ppl coming in and ruining my skilling time by having pk fun… so the apartment pk’ing ROCKS imo :wise:
Give the furniture TIME  … This game has evolved slowely at first, but now is rapidly changing with each vu. I suspect, as many do, that carpentry might come to us in the near future. And already furnishings (including new furniture) has been dropping at a much higher rate… more than anything, if you intend to stay in game for another 6 or 12 months then you will see that your little sparse apartment can become a fun little decorating playland in the near future.
OK- my :twocents: Btw, I don’t think every1 should have an apartment, but I just wanted to point out that some of the “negatives” are actually positives in disguise that one may wish to consider.
I agree with Svetlana this time (heheh see? I’m not always an argumentative shit in the forums :D)
It’s a brand new part of PE, so obviously MA will be using the “suck it and see” approach before they start adding servers, and ploughing resources into an area that, lets face it, may not take off
Obviously, just as in real life, anywhere that the population starts to increase to a certain level, amenities will start to pop up
One thing I would really like to see though, and the apartments could be part of the testing ground for, is the virtual shops that MA stated in their original Business model. That is, real life companies hosting stores in PE shops (that’s why you see so many buildings in all the towns, which an “interactive object” but locked)
All you auction junkies, I bet alot of you are also prone to a spot of eBay bashing… Imagine being able to go to an eBay shop from within PE?
Svetka and Co. you seem to be design junkies - same IRL? You soup up your apartment and think"damn that’s nice - I could do that to my lounge" - and pop into the Ikea virtual shop to buy a few bits for your RL home
IMO this would add a chunk more reality to the virtual universe, as it would be something not purely from MA

Ah, would be nice! Ikea and MA go hand in hand
Btw- my apartment in game shares some common features with my rl house… Take, for example, this pic of my rl “top lamp” that hangs over the dining room table.. https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/gallery/files/3/1/mar13_thumb.jpg[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Since balconies were mentioned - here’s one thought on the sheer usefulness of balconies.
Items on balconies are “public”, so anyone can pick them up.
I’ve heard some people complaining about that, because you put something there and a stranger can snag it. Well, how easy is it to get to someone’s balcony from the outside?
With balconies, you can leave something for a friend to pick up when you’re not around. You don’t have to schedule a time to meet in-game. As long as the person is on your friends list, you can make your apartment private and add them to your guest list.
Now, if the friends you ID as guests are stealing from you, well, I’d say the problem isn’t the balconies, it’s the friends

Would be nice… but unfortunately atm it is very easy to reach some1’s balcony… if you sit or lay down on a balcony, you fall through the floor to the balcony below (or sometimes the one below that one)… but this appears to be a temporary bug
Any thoughts on why the apartments are only on Amethera? You have to be a reasonably high level player just to survive the first journey to the Cities; if the animals don’t kill you the players will!
I would have thought that Mindark would welcome the chance to sell apartments to as many people as possible so it seems odd that they have deliberately put them out of reach for thousands of players.
furniture should drop 10X more than it does atm.. prices are insane.
its only the indoor doors that are removed not the outdoor ones. and yes it alot less lagg now
I have only been pked 4 times now. and 3 of the times was because I started fights with ppl =D
nowadays there is basicly no one that PKs anymore so dont worry. and if you just say that you are going home then most ppl will let you
I would want apt in hadesheim to though… but amathera is fine with me.
Why do the medium apartments have such crap windows compared to the large and small apartments?
The only reason i got a medium instead of small (was at work when they released them so no chance of a large) was for the balcony and the ability to leave something for someone. Not encountered the falling through balcony yet and i have sit/lay down on it once or twice and reloged with out probs.
But atm coz the windows are so bad i’m thinking of trading in for a small one.
As for monthly rental i think it should be adjusted small = 5 ped/month, medium 10 ped/month, large 20 ped/month or something similar anyway.
I agree at the present time the only uses for aprtments are storage, roleplay and status. Although in the fuiture i think we will see more usses for apartments as entropia is a vitual universe the importants of haveing you own home will improve
With in 3 weeks you will see apartment go for 50 to 100 ped less then original pricing. They will be hard to get rid of as soon as people realize that there is no real use for the apartment. Ya its nice and cool to see. But It makes no ped. And once the hubbub is over they will be as desired as sweetstuff is now.
OK i was probably the last person in the world to think about buying realestate in PE but i traded a real life mountain bike for appartment lately so i could have one. Me and my wife kinda share it now. Now especially me would not have bought an appartment unless i seen some sort of value or purpose for it. So i’ll give you a couple idea’s as to what uses i have for it.
You can have a private soc party. I’ve got plans in the work for having a improv party (something in the lines of the TV show “Who’s Line is it Anyway?”)
You can use it as a shop. ( a private soc shop too)
A way to get more room in your storage and display your items in a bit of a better way.
Gives a use to looted furniture and gives me as a player with low skills something to try and loot thats not “uber”. I’ll be a lot happier now looting furinture then if i didn’t have a place to put it.
5.Also thinking of doing some comics and mabey even some sort of performance art thing in it for fun.
can have some fun PK contests and hide and pk games in the appartment that observation deck makes for a nice HUGE ring.
Makes the game feel more real when you have a home to goto before you log out.
