So, I goofed learning to mine

I did not realize claims expired so quickly…

349 bombs, 70 claims (20% HR already low I think? Maybe small sample size, within expected variance?) but according to my message center, 44 of them expired before I dug them up. Ouch.

Expensive lesson to learn. Luckily, I got the 2 size 13’s (running F-101) so I probably didn’t lose all that much. Still, quite an expensive lesson, 54.96% return after finder/extractor decay and probes.

I wish there was an “Oops, I didn’t realize that, can I have those claims back this one time, please?” button.

Oh well, not a mistake I will repeat at least.

If the claims size roughly represent returns, here’s what I found:

Size 3
Size 4
Size 5
Size 9
Size 13

8
38
21
1
2

354.22 PED cycled, 197.04 pulled out of the ground. I wonder how much I lost, can we guesstimate based on those sizes? F-101, no extras, only ore drops.

Edit: Support came through, potentially thanks to Nana, our liaison, and refunded my expired claims, pushing my return for this run to 317.32/355.22, a much more absorbable 89.33%.

Many thanks to Nana and MA support for the kindness of helping me through such a rookie mistake.

If you message support they may refund the expired claims, they have done this before for people who had claims up upon a server shutdown, good luck

Two months without reply from support on this same issue with myself, except for me, power went out in my city, and I was left without electricity, extending time past claim expiration. No one has even looked at the support case, nor gives a shit. Imagine having such a feature as the customer’s mining claims expire like that. It is such a huge tell, letting people know what kind of company they are giving their money to. I am completely fed up, and have not deposited since.
Good luck, and I hope you have better success getting your claims back.

Wow, I feel very badly for you, I’m sorry to hear that. An infrastructure problem preventing you from picking up your claims, that seems like a circumstance beyond anyone’s control, and I would hope you could get at least a partial refund.

My situation is a far less severe, I’m just an idiot and played poorly. I had no idea they only lasted for 1 hour. Going back and checking chat.log, I actually hit a total of 71 times, and have 27 counts of “This resource is depleted” so, 71/349 HR, and I gave up 44 of them for being stupid/uneducated. 100% my fault, poor play, poor planning, poor execution, poor preparation. Entirely different than your case, which I hope sincerely you get some help with.

If the game didn’t crash when PC is connected to Bluetooth sound output, I might have at least heard the notifications…

Buuuut, since I was talking to a friend while mining on my Bluetooth headset, I had the sound disabled in the client to prevent crashing every 2 minutes…

It was a crazy circumstance too. A raccoon got into a relay station and chewed something, frying himself to a crisp. I even linked support the news article. No one cares.

If you can raise a support case with the timestamps attached from your chat log of when you were mining and the claims that expired, and share the support case # with me I can chat with support and see if anything can be done.

No promises, though as yes, while the information is available and on the deed itself, it’s also not super clear what’s going to happen if you don’t mine them up in time.

I always extract claims right away to avoid this sort of situation, but even so I have got distracted sometimes and forgotten about one so it expires. Not very often though. Just on a point of information. The expiry time depends on the claim size. And 20% hit rate is really low even now when MA has reduced returns again.

I don’t understand why the timer has to be so low.

I did a small ore run the other day with L8 amps, even then it was possible to hit small enough that I had to dig them up while running AND frenetically check the timer on ample and up to not get screwed over.

I appreciate you for this, but no need. As a member of this community, I think it best to save elevating attention for real bugs/issues, not just a little user error. I did open a support case, I have zero expectations.

Yep, if I keep mining, I will dig them up as I find them.

And what with other us who are also in the same situation? 2 months from the claims that dissapear due to not scheduled servers turn off two times in the same day and no support response. We all should ask on forum for suport? Case ID 458336

I guess Lyst/Oil globals last 24h in case a rookie hits big and has to use a starter extractor?

I only ever inspected my deeds for the globals (for personal screenshots) so I thought they all had 24h. Oops.

Oo sorry to hear this but 1 thing I can say so far for me is support has been really good with sending back my expired claims the ~2 times per year that it happens. Idk if it’s because sometimes It’s a funny situation and I tell them all about it - like last time with explosive diarrhea from eating taco bell there was no way I could finish extracting. Now I know to not eat taco bell before mining in the future (golden advice here btw). If they don’t give them back within a week just tell Nana case number. It’s typically 2 business days. It’s our money and from a business standpoint it’d be not smart on MAs end to do this as long as it’s not constantly happening to avoid paying extracting fees.

I think this is here with big timer so if you only have a short window or something to play you don’t spend the whole time extracting if you immediately hit a big oil lyst claim and can keep cycling. Then save the 2k-4k lyst hof for while you’re sleeping and extract for hours. Win/win for player/MA.

Okay, no promises accepted. People have mentioned this here and in private, that I should let you try your best. I will take you up on your offer after all.

They lie in support. During Gold Rush on Arkadia they extended the maintenance time and refused to give me any claims lol.

When one person gets help and all of you abuse it to ask for it right after, it’s what causes MA not to help at all
