Smoking In Bars

Should it be ok or against the Law!

I am a non-smoker, but I believe that people should decide themselves if they want to smoke or not, and not the society.
And does smoking not seem to be ordinary at Bars? :beerchug:

I would like to see the option I support “bars with non-smoking and smoking areas”.

Can I change the poll once it’s started?

I said in the other thread I have no problems with seperate sections for smoking and non smoking.
I ahve also said I have no problems with not smoking in restuants and malls and so on. But a Bar is about relaxsation (* yea I know spelling, leave that for another thread) segregation for smokers and non smokers is fine with me. But to outlaw it completely well, as I said before, if you read it you could out law 1000 of things and argue it.

And I said in other thread:
[ul][li]Im happy with smoking/non-smoking areas we have in Finland.[/li][li]Employee protecting laws have been the legal issue in many countries.[/li][*]Not everyone would leave bars if they were completely non-smoking.[/ul]

acctually in Norway it isnt allowed anymore.

I agree with the first 2 I have no prob with that.
But ask your local small town pub here in the US if our governement banned smoking in bars entirely. They would tell you flat out, I would have to close up shop and retire or find another job.

Cultural differences are big. In Finland for example smoking has never been as allowed in everyplace as it has been in US.

Like I said: not everyone are like you (in person or as culture).

I think this is as right to carry arms. Its not problem here if they are banned since its never been any kind of civil right.

Yes I 100% agree. But as I said 20 posts back I speak for the US no one else

After the law about no smoking in bars or other indoor public places in Norway, many bars have seen bad times, but its getting better. But none of the bars around here have acctually been layed down, no.

But I would like to say a few facts just:
Its been proved in the last years that the non-smokers thats around smokers (its a better word for it… passive-smokers? O_o) is exposed to just as much health-risk as the smokers. I know there is supposed to be a report about it on the net aswell, I’ll try to find it.

So what someone said in the “stupid laws”-thread: “its my body”. Well yes but your also exposing your non-smoking friends to it, aswell as the bartenders. Thats not your body  And for the relaxation-part; when your eyes are running from smoke its not very relaxing.

The biggest problem here with the law we have is that its freezing outside.
I would like to see that some of the bars located near eachother would buy a heated-outdoor room together, I think that would do well.

Dont get me wrong, I see minuses. I sit alone in the bar sometimes when my friends go out smoking, I also understand the smokers. But it sometimes seems they dont understand us non-smokers.

Why should the government have to tell you (as a friend of a smoker or a bartender) that being around smokers is bad for you. Can noone be responsible for themselves anymore?

I understand 100% trust me
But don’t go roling your car window down while driving on the highway you might inhale some carbonminoxide :wise:
All I’m saying is there are more hazards inlife other then smokijng which can kill you just as fast. Either you get rid of them all or do not pick and choose which your gonna ban and which you are not. US once tried alcohol prohibition. Alcohol is not good for you in large quantities an most ppl who go to bars 90% go there to get drunk! If not go to pizza hut, they only allow to pints per customer. And non smoking

But smoking is according to latest researches really bad.

I dont think you mean to say that legalize crack and LSD because coffee (which is really mildly narcotic and poisonous) is legal.

And for DD’s opinion… I dont think everything should be allowed everyplace. I think you should have right to do what you want with your own body but only at private places. You shouldnt be allowed to ie. go flashing yourself at kindergarden or something like that. Someone has to make and enforce rules for community.

So who’s gonna tell me the exact way to eat? Exercise? Drive? And so forth so I can live a safe life with out the hazards of dieing prematurly? I need assistence sence I dont’ know everything? Maybe the government will pass laws so I can ive safely

Even if it was your own kid who got offered totally legal LSD at school?

Also problem is that drug addict may drive over you with car or rob you to get drugs. Drugs do cause crimes. Its not only the addict who gets all the shit.
