Skills interactions

Just wondering how skills interact. Mainly, the whole PvP discussion has got me thinking:

It seems the best way to avoid being hit in PvP is to have a high Evade skill, right? (or dodge?) - after all, armor can soak up some damage, but if the weapon does enough, you can still get taken out pretty easily.

So if Evade makes you harder to hit, what skill counters Evade? What skill would someone need to even the odds of actually hitting someone with a high evade?

Or is it just a lot more complicated than that.

Logically, i’d say that Aim counters Evade… But, well, we need to keep in mind that PE has been made by MA and, sometimes, their ways of doing things are not very logical
Anyway, i’m fairly sure that it’s far more complex than that

I guess skills that affect ranged hitting are:
[ul][li]Agility[/li][li]Courage[/li][li]Dexterity[/li][li]Perception[/li][li]Serendipity[/li][li]Aim[/li][li]Combat reflexes[/li][li]Rifle/Handgun[/li][li]Weaponhandling[/li][li]MMS/RDA[/li][li]IRD[/ul][/li]
And skills that counter ranged hitting are:
[ul][li]Agility[/li][li]Athletics[/li][li]Alertness[/li][li]Courage[/li][li]Serendipity[/li][li]Combat reflexes[/li][li]Dodge[/ul][/li]
No one seems to know more precisely if IRD for example affects only damage when hit or if aim affects purely on hit/miss calculation not damage.

How ever I guess it is that all those dodging related skills affect only in hit/miss and damage is calculated purely on attackers skills.

Makes some sense, at least. But as was said, MA designed this, so …

I would assume that skills such as Longblades, etc (I don’t know all of them offhand) would be the equivalent for melee damage, then?

I wonder if there is any way to test this out. About the only thing I can think of would entail the use of a large number of skill implants, and I don’t see anyone wanting to spend that much money on a research project like that…
