Skeptics Stop Loss Log

So it is time again to try to limit the way I play. While it has been fun to cycle like a madlad the verderon money is pretty much gone and it is time to deposit again. At the same time I would like to see my avatar grow in terms of equipment and skills so I decided to try playing with a stop loss which, if I have enough discipline, means that by the end of every month the account value should have grown. If not by in game activities then by monthly deposits.

I will set a weekly stop loss at 1000 ped and a week will run from Thursday to Thursday. The stop loss will accumulate in four week periods and reset at the end of each period. The idea is that when I have a good week I get to play more the next week and if I have a good month or hit big the profit should be added to the account and go towards upgrading my equipment. If I hit the stop loss at any given time, I will only allow myself to do activities that break even or profit until the next Thursday (cutting trees, swunting, some crafting, trading, some low level hunting).

For instance:
Week 1: 1000 ped accumulated stop loss. I hit this on Friday already. Now if I manage to make 100 PED before next Thursday I am allowed to lose those as well but I don’t.
Week 2: Accumulated stop loss hits 2000 ped, I hit a big one and end the week +1000.
Week 3: Accumulated stop loss is 3000. Now, since returns are break even for the period, I am allowed to go -3000 this week so I decide to do ROOTs because Icewind promised me an ath if I kill 18950 more. And I hit it (Loss, not ath) so I spend the rest of the week swunting paneleons.
Week 4: Accumulated stop loss 4000. Due to the damn ROOTs I only have 1000 PED to lose this week.
Week 5: New period. No matter if I hit an ATH during week 4 we are now back to 1000 in stop loss for this week.

I figured this would be fun to start during mayhem. Basically the idea is to control losses but still being able to hunt whatever I want, the rules will only determine for how long.

I will be tracking and sharing TT results including defensive costs. I will share progress on equipment. I will calculate markup in and out at times of sales and purchases. I will also track the boring stuff when I hit my limit and hopefully I’ll be able to keep going for a while.

I will initially fund upgrades to gear by selling stuff I don’t need but have hoarded during the years.

Weapons:

Exceptional LR-60

Short term I intend to add the Frontier Rifle. I would also like to add an ArcSpark and hopefully some exceptional laser pistol.

Long term goal: M2870 Twen or Imk2 or similar, hopefully new whips are added, SB-90 Adj.

Armor:
Viceroy
EST (L)
Perseus (L)
Ghost

Incision plates

Short term: Add adjusted vigi to the collection, complete my limited Pegasus set. I will also go for full Zaparis as I loot the BPs.

Long term: Upgrade path on the plates and viceroy for daily hunting. Don’t really see a need for any other armor with the L market being decent. The imperium improved armor looks fun though.

Healing:
Mod ek2350

Short term: Not really a big need for the moment but Mod 2600 is next in line. Adj resto and divine intervention chip, probably going to go the mission route for these.

Long term: The good version of Imp FAP. Refurbished X. Would also like a 110 for nostalgia.

Other:
Perfected Ares
The big cheap evade ring I am blanking on

Short term: Tezlapod ped

Long term: Celestial ring, Easter25 and too be determined. The rings are a maze for me.

I like it. I also play with a stop loss but much lower than that and less strict but it’s definitely a great way to play imo.

This is definitely better than the puny hunting for your own puny guns 1. Don’t wanna not be able to have any fun playing a game + it forces you to cut trees and boost up some looter skills which is super boring once u have lost enough some weeks ? .. gl

So I kinda fucked it up right away, I am not worried about going over the 1k limit with 130 PED as I believe I somehow managed to grab at least a bit of markup to cover that. So right now it is time to start cutting trees, grinding vixens, trading stuff and other things wher I know I break even at a minimum. This includes a few instances where markup covers the TT loss so if Lootius decides to smile at me, I might be looking at shooting mayhem mobs in a bit again.

Cost for limited armor is not in the tables. Reason for this is that I mainly look at armor as a convenience and I am lazy so will add them as i replace the parts out. Shouldn’t do much though as I mainly used my viceroy so far.

How much is the durability on viceroy? Do you try to get high tir (L) armor parts to use with dura enchancers?

I was shocked how much even Frontier set added to the losses on my first +30K kills hunt. ?

I learned quick that restroration and lifeleech are better and cheaper options.

Consider armor being reasonable only in cases where there really is something MU worth to loot. ?

Since armor is returned in loot I don’t pay attention to durability, even if we assume 0 efficiency it is not going to have a big impact. From earlier tracking I figured healing and armor cost if you pay attention end up around 1-2% of your cycle. If we assume even 90% return on that we are talking tops a 2 ped cost on 1k cycle.

So I rather pay 10-20 ped per night for the convenience of not dying and not having to tag mobs from afar as my main goal is fun. ?

Regarding the viceroy I think ghost is a better option today, I believe the viceroy base costs about 700 ped and is non tradeable.

Edit: Obviously the decay goes up if I go really stupid but will add it in chunks to totals along the way

Edit2: My instance MU grab run ended up +881 in just TT so game is back on! Thank you MA!

Thanks to a little bit of luck we have survived three days!

I also realized that you only need to sweat 5% of cost to kill when swunting, so when worst comes to worst I have a plan. A very beautiful plan. Some would say the best plan.

Hunting did not do me any favors yesterday but gathered me some markup. SkepTrade LLC really took off with a blast yesterday but not gonna dip my fingers in the piggybank just yet, I want that Mod Merc. Sold some shit, recovered some markup. It is not looking bright but on the flipside 168 of those peds I counted as an expense this week will be protecting my thighs for a month. We pray lootius swooshes by tonight. I still have to survive tuesday and wednesday before adding funds to play with.

Most of the armor decay is returned in loot. On my extensive logging, defense is only 0.6% of costs.

Well in my case +5K cycled it mean’t i need to earn +40 Ped more MU to cover the cost.

Might not be much at one goe but it stacks up quick.

This was with 20K dura armor too. So i’d assume it is alot more with lesser duras.

Just my observation supported by logs. ?

This is true, but it depends a bit on our goals. For you, who seem to aim for highest possible return, it does make a difference in the long run but for someone like me who prioritize fun, it is neglible.

I often over armor for this reason, I value the fun of tanking over long term small gains but we all find different things fun.

Something that isn’t fun though is sweating which I tried yesterday. Jesus Christ. I started with berries thinking “50 sweat to cover the TT loss can’t take that long” but turns out it did. Went on to small daikiba but even getting three pulls per kill feels next to impossible.

I will give it another go tonight, I am a bit more patient while sober but I have a feeling I will end up closing the game. Might try to find some shared loot and do some healing or if anyone needs a healer hit me up. Hoisting a T1 Mod2350.

Seems like MA doesn’t want me to play. Guess I will be spending today and tomorrow sorting out my storage unless lootius smiles at me and i loot a PF20 to sell. I made it 5 days and to be frank, overall returns have been pretty bad so I have my hopes up that I will be able to play most days at the level I am acustomed too without losing too much money.

Week one has come to an end. Two boring days but mostly it was quite fun. While taming and sweating wasn’t very exciting it sure was fun to grab a couple skillpoints moving me closer to my goal of 350k by the end of the year.

Important things to note: Since we just got started results will be a bit skewed. I run instances on a different spread sheet from where I get my “instance money”. I do this too keep track that I am on pace for break even when and if a multiplier hits to know if I can “cash out” like I this did week. Would that hof have happened during my normal hunting my TT returns would be a lot higher. Neither of this matters long term since both numbers inside and outside instances will smoothen out with time.

I still haven’t dipped into my piggy bank of trading. Managed to make quite a few ped during the week but I am going to keep at it until that reaches 40k so I can buy my M2870 TWEN. So the trading portion of this log is gone for now. IF complete disaster hits, I might take money from there.

For week two I think I will focus on smaller mobs. Mayhem made me think that I could grind for an exceptional bp click or three but drop rate is not high enough. I have no reason to spend all my time shooting big mobs since it is so volitale. With the exception of tomorrows run on ROOTs I will try to stick to AI missions on caly and continuing grinding for my FAP on Cyrene.

Two days in a row that fucked me over. First had a decent day on thursday just to mess it up with halloween mobs. Then friday root bonanza started at +700 quite a bit in but ended at -500. No major changes anywhere, still not touching trade money. I have thought of perhaps selling some gear and buy smaller pew pew. Not really sure. But I need to either hof big or make 250 ped last for 5 days so I probably should start killing smaller mobs.
