Well, I’ve never really been sure regarding how the skill modifications on the attachments worked. But, now after the VU you were allowed to see the minimum damage and the Hit Ability on a certain weapon. Although, the attachments doesn’t seem to affect the Hit Ability, nor the damage on the weapons stats.
I used to think that lasers affected the Aim skill, meaning that they increased the aim skills if you had attachments on a certain weapon. But this can’t be true, as if that was true, the Hit Ability / Max would be increased, wouldn’t it?
If the attachments doesn’t affect the Hit Ability (Aim) nor the Average damage done, I’m not sure what they could actually do. It feels like attachments are just there to look cool, something useless that costs you alot of money. What do you think?
I sent a support case in regarding this issue, and support told me that they weren’t allowed to discuss ingame dynamics. Which basically means that I can’t report this as a bug, as I don’t know if anythings wrong. I guess I’m just going to stop using attachments though, as it doesn’t feel like they do me any good.
That’s one of the reaons why I bought none decaying stuff , I still use the scopes but don’t use the lasers because I don’t think they do anything for you. Would be nice to hear from Marco if this is bugged and will improve aim?
I mean I cant even see that little red dot most times, if that is all it does I don’t need it
This has been buggin me for quite some time also…I dont seem to gain any more skills when using them, nor do my weapons perform better. They only seem to be a decay/repair sink. I think I will also quit using them until we get some kind of definitive answer.
Hi,
There have been updates after this case […], the bug you described […] is fixed. regarding the stats for your scope, those stats should not be included in the presentation of that gun. I will however forward your concern about it, it might be included at a later stage.
Thank you for reporting.
/Regards
The second part, about the scope, is mainly addressing this:
When I’m adding laser sights and a scope to my guns (for a 33.5% skill modifier), there’s no difference at all shown in my hit ability and critical hit ability.
Im kinda confused, maybe is just a translation thing…
are they saying that (assuming yes, they do add a benefit) the stats/ % benefit should not be included in the gun presentation (description) ?
Yes, that’s basically it.
The only thing that changes in the gun description is the skill mod % … the values shown under hit ability and critical hit ability are not updated (i.e. showing higher values) like the ammo burn or damage when you add an amp to a gun.
They probably work in a different way and are calculated by another method than the bonus you get from laser sights and scopes - for example you can still miss with an Opalo when you have 10/10 hit ability and don’t do a critical hit on every shot when you have 10/10 critical hit ability.
What really concerns me more is why they are not allowed to discuss in game dynamics. It’s like this is what you’re not allowed to do (and we’ll fix it as a bug if its in your favour, but we’re not going to tell you how to get the best out of the game)
I said in another thread that someone who relies on ignorance is a con artist. I didn’t mean it in this context the thread was about resellers, but thinking about it the principle should hold true here too.
If it turns out these items are purely decay sinks, and MA won’t tell us this …
On the other hand if they are open and explain exactly how it works we can feel we understand why were using them and what benifit they give us and then be quite happy about the decay.
So we should press this point. TELL US WHY, TELL US HOW. Be OPEN, be corporately socially responsible (I did my buiness masters disseration on CSR

not sure which is more funny to hear, the fact that tru bonuses are not allowed to be known/shown…tracked/tested, or the fact that they “might” add it at a later date. Not that it really matters, so many other contributing factors are unknown, so its all just pretty #'s anyway that dont really mean much after the trigger is pulled.
PE is dynamic, thank goodness it finally applies to mob damage as well :beerchug:
I have 4 Abrer laser sites, 1 Grender Scope, and 1 Dacascos Scope. This made a complete setup for my FF8km and mk2. The market value is around 730 ped, whereas the TT value is 655 peds. These are going into storage now. Guess I’ll sell them later if…err..when I need cash. There is enough about this game that is secret and mysterious, without adding this kind of crap to it.

well keep and use the scopes the are good
the lasers would put in storage
Im gonna tell you what you should do.
Strip your gun of all the attachments and check the TT shown and the condition.
Then put on all the attachments you can and check the TT and shown condition again.. It doesnt change.
Therefore I assume that there is more things that wont show as well.. Like the hit/critical chances not being displayed…
When it comes to AMPS im not sure wether or not the TT is increased on the weapon, as i tried only with an unamped gun and threw on 400 PED TT worth of lasers and scopes, without the TT of the gun changing..
Well PE is huge, running PE has to be extremely hard and make it better all the time bugs are going to pop up all the time so with that in mind.
Its probably an bug and I would love for Marco or some one else to maybe state that.
Give PE/MA the benefit of the doubt before some people call them money pits or like
As for now I cant see an difference using it, and the new PE screen is showing me that its not doing anything for me, until that changes I will not use them. But Im not selling mine, and don’t think that anyone should make an rash decision in selling theirs.
This is an great post because it might bring to the attention of an small bug that MA/PE has not seen.
Update.. I went to the source to see what the deal was, take an look.

An question of laser sights , do they really do something? Maybe the game item status not working 100%, would just like to know what they do?
Thanks
PS: will post results in ef forums since this was an recent post on it and no ones seems to know if they do anything.. thanks again.

They do something yes, however I cant give you any more information than what is available on the items themselves.

Im just wondering though: Have somebody done any tests on this in pvp for inctance. It would have to be someone with high skills, so we are sure there is lots of skills to mod. Then use a MPH or 2201 with highlevel attachments, fire many shots and record the hit rate with and without the attachments.
I have noticed a diference in using laser and not using lasers. I have also noticed a diference between using low TT lasers (almost fully decayed) and full TT lasers. When I’ve been using almost fully decayed lasers, I have been doing alot worse result with them then without them! Almost like the armor protection that get’s worse when the TT goes down. It’s pretty logic though, think about it.. How would a fully decayed laser sight work in real life, all messed up and so? Would you aim good ? No.. You would probably miss even more with it then without it. Keep your lasers in full TT, thats for sure.
But yeah, I also wonder why it doesnt show any additional stats to your hitability… strange.
i think that lasers do help, they seem to help me. especially since as a former hg user, my performance with rifle-skill weapons really sucks when i take the lasers off of my rockjacker. but as a paying customer, i do wanna hear some details, yes. hard facts and figures turn me on. im thankful for the new armor decay system which seems to reduce hunting costs a little and keeps us on our toes, never know when youre gonna get hit for 110 dmg (but hey, they just made my unique full boar suit much more valuable.. heh!)..
however, cK angel raised this same question a while back.. saying that he uses lasers and simply has faith that they provide some benefit.. but he also wants to know how they work, and no bullshit about it. i agree. lets hear some details, MA.. marco, do your homework and let us know =D
if it turns out that lasers work on a percentage, that would be an economy boost.. crafters would suddenly start selling more gargul lasers or whatever. abrers are lame, a 12.5% mod, i think, and double the decay of a jester. ouch. silly for a LASER to decay to begin with. anyway, if we knew how attachments work, PLAYERS WOULD STILL SPEND MONEY, but they would spend it in a more appropriate or logical way if we had more information, which would make more players happy. happy players deposit lots of money. nuff said.
