Buy the PE Gold Card (this will only make it so the scammer can’t deposit, they can still access your account).

If you got a Gold card then they cant access your account.

Armor Upgrade Scam?

This just happened to me:
Guy walks up to me in TP and asks if i want to buy better armor (i got Rascal).
I say no sorry no peds to spare atm, then he says he can upgrade my armor (+500 impact or something).
I say how he says just strip and give it to me i need to go use the machine after that you get it back…
Yeah sure like i would give my armor to some stranger…

Use the scammer alert topic, get the full name and face of the scammer and post them there..

Edit: duh - forget it - I asked if this could be included in the Sticky Threads, but now I see it’s already there, it’s just that it looks a bit different, so I didn’t recognize it first… :dunce:

Well done!

Kinda new here, but shouldn’t somerthing like this be sticky inside the noobs forum? Putting all the stickies in their own forum kinda negates the reason they are sticky. Just my two pecs on the matter. I’m sure this was probably all hashed out before PE went gold, but…

Yes they can the gold card provides a one time access code that is linked with a server, you have to enter this code to access the game.

From the client loader or website you can just use your standard password and username the gold card does nothing to protect this so therefore if someone gets access to your details they CAN access your details, see your address and credit cards its only the view you see but it still contains information about you. SO it is very important that you NEVER GIVE LOG IN DETAILS

I have also changed the part about the gold card in sharp shots guide in a hope that it is more easily understandable now :)

Added another update, the item crafting scam and also refining scam, now I just need to see if MB can update the sticky guides?? or if any of you Mods are reading this??

Another BUMP just added stuff about your accounts after the recent spree of hacks it is adviasble to check all your details, and possibly your passwords may seem extreme but IMO better safe then sorry, The info is at the top of the first page right at the top so you cant miss it

Hi,

Great work! Rep added, and a small proposal:

This is some nice big piece of invaluable information. I have learned that many ppl these days will be runnig away screaming being confronted with this amount of letters - not that they need to be stupid or uneducated, but there’s quite a numer of ppl that are repelled by long texts.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there were, at the beginning, a list of short, easily remembered “rules of thumb”? Like this:

[ol]
[li] Whoever asks for password is trying to scam you![/li][li] Whoever offers to upgrade your armor is trying to scam you![/li][li] …[/li][/ol]

Big letters, bold. As short and clearly as possible.

And a more prominent place would be fine, too - I vote for a permanent sticky on top of the n00bs Corner.

Have fun!

Good work on this…+rep added.

I’ll be pointing any nOOb’s at this thread from now on. Got a lot out of it myself too…but I’m an eternal nOOb

Thanks for the rep  the guide def needs some updating again I have seen a few more scams being reported on the forums so I need to run an update on this for sure the main problem I have at the moment is lack of computer time summer is always a bad time for me as I work extra hard trying to pay of loans and such, but a few lines near the top is a great idea and as soon as I get enough time to sit down and jot down a few of the most commen scams ill shove them at the top and bolden them up.

edit—

Ok I have tried to add a shortlist it was rushed so if you feel I have missed any information out please dont hesitate to contact me by pm or in this thread and ill do my best to make the needed amendments

A twist on the “Removing funds from the offer window” scam.

Another scam i have experienced, but luckily did not fall for as i caught it at the last second, is this… I was trading a quantity of ME when it was selling for 300%. I had abot 72.43 PEDS worth. (I cant remember the persons name) came and enquired about it and said they would buy it all. “Great” i thought and put the lot into the trade window. They put in the correct amount 72.43PEDS and i hit confirm. With the safe guards in place, when they removed their offer and cancelled the trade quickly my Goods were protected and remained in my inventory. The prospective buyer claimed it had been a mistake, so we went through the procedure again.

Again he put in the correct amount of 72.43PEDS and i hit ‘confirm’. Low and behold the buyer withdrew his money and cancelled the trade. Again he stated that it had simply been a mistake and could we attempt the trade again. Getting suspicious i agreed reluctantly.:loco:

For the third time i entered my goods and clicked confirm, HOWEVER, on this ocassion the buyer only put in the window the sum of 7.24PED. Expecting me to be fed up with the “mistakes” and in a hurry to complete the transaction enough not to notice he was only offering me 10% of my asking price. When i cancelled the transaction he had the audacity to call me a scammer and proceeded to walk off.

Please be aware of this type of scam. I have heard it is common place around the area of Port Atlantis
