Reason for my recent bad mining runs is...

Well, last week or two I am only finding Poor and Very poor mining locations. Are you getting the same results? (I tried also places on Amethera)

Your mining success will also depend highly on what you mine. I have found WAY more enmatter than ore (PED for PED). I think more people mine ore and it is screwing up the spawning. There is an abundance of enmatter waiting to be found. I have 951 Sweetstuff in my inventory right now (two probes) Now if I could only find some fruit I would be rich :silly2:

Now the mining became a casino, after VU 7.0, the skills were used, now they are not any more useful…
Since VU 7.0, I lose much ped with each session, whereas before it was very rare with my skills to lose peds.
MA completely changed the mining and in my opinion wants to make leave the old minors with many skills to give less peds thereafter.
The mining is based on the chance at 100% now…

i play since gold now, i’ve >6k mining, >2.3k propecting, >1.5k geology, >3k extraction, and since VU7.0, I explode more than 3000 bombes/probes each week, and I found only 1 HOF > 100 ped and 0 beacon since V7.0 ROFL, it is very funny

To play 3 years for that, that gives the road of the exit (MA gains)

Good day

i am not that skilled but i am not playing much, or nothing cause of the same problem… and i was using around those 3000bombs/weak… but… loss is to high :frowning: lets wait some time to get back to the game

In answer to your question, no I am not getting the same results.

As far as I am concerned, mining has been great since VU 7.6.2, and with the rise in ore prices, I’ve hardly had a losing run since VU 7.7, I could count them on the fingers of one hand.

Now the mining became a casino, after VU 7.0, the skills were used, now they are not any more useful

I dont believe they have no use, just different from VU 7.6 onwards.

Since VU 7.0, I lose much ped with each session, whereas before it was very rare with my skills to lose peds.

Then you need to change your methods or your areas, or both.

MA completely changed the mining and in my opinion wants to make leave the old minors with many skills to give less peds thereafter.

Dont Strakkan and Zefram both have ATH’s?
Isnt Stormer (#1 ATH) an experienced miner?

The mining is based on the chance at 100% now…

Where is the evidence for this?

i play since gold now, i’ve >6k mining, >2.3k propecting, >1.5k geology, >3k extraction, and since VU7.0, I explode more than 3000 bombes/probes each week, and I found only 1 HOF > 100 ped and 0 beacon since V7.0 ROFL, it is very funny

But other people who have high skills do get plenty of HOFs.
As my skills have increased, the number of HOFs I get has also increased, I think you need to consider changing the way you are mining, rather than just blaming MA and carrying on regardless.

Where is the option “There is no bad run” ?

stormer a experienced miner? LOL

I dont know him, its just what I heard, is that not correct? :dunno:

It is all my fault… I´am the ore grinch and I steal all the ores on calypso.
I blame this behavior on a bad childhood combined with fact that I´am crazy :tongue2: .

Mining has changed quite a bit since the updates. Skills still matter in this VU they just improve upon different actions than they did in the past. Before if you were a highly skilled miner when skill gain was slow you could pretty much guarantee yourself good returns. Now skills just help you reduce your decay by pulling more ore/enmatter (mining, drilling, extraction skill, etc) Some skills just help you utilize your dectector better which means you should be finding more deposits than a lower skilled miner which should help you at least break even (prospecting, surveying, geology, CGA, etc) Skills only increase your chances of finding an uber deposit they don’t guarantee one. Plus skills don’t guarantee you will find better than avg deposits (you will find what is there).

With so many new miners at different skill levels, deposits are being more or less scattered so its harder to find traditional veins. Here is an example miner A (very unskilled) mines an area finds a couple deps(for example only lyst) and moves on thinking there is no more ore/enmatter. Due to his low skills he is unable to detect some of the deeper or semi rare ores. Miner B mid skilled comes through finds a couple deposits(maybe even some semi-rare duru, erod, etc) moves on. The miner C very skilled basically finds whatever else is left there(maybe even a rare ore if its in the area). I think any one of the above miners will be able to detect a gigantic deposit if its in their skill level range or they get really lucky (luck factor explained below).

If you happen upon a traditional vein that has not been mined out keep track of the depths at which you find the ores/enmatters most of the time they are at varying depths and ore/enmatter types which mean differently skilled avatars will find different parts of that vein and possibly different ores/enmatters within that vein. From my personal experience mining in the past seemed quite linear you found a vein there was a good chance moving N/S/E/W you could follow it and mine it out. Now I think the depth and mineral type has alot to do with what you find. Sometimes when you get skill gain in the same spot it is possible that it means there is a deposit that you are just not skilled enough to detect. ( I also think just by performing the action of bombing you can gain skill)

There is also the luck factor everyone gets lucky and may utilize their tool to the extent that an uber miner would. Just like in hunting when you get a string of max damage and you are not maxed out on that weapon. This might account for someone not that skilled getting an ATH. I think the lack of finds here recently is due to more new people mining and MA moving some of the traditional spots plus replacing some of the traditional ores/enmatters in that area with more common ones. This is speculation but maybe in an attempt to revitalize PVP3 they have moved most of the rare ore there. What may be a sucky factor in all this is that now uber mining skill may be way over 5k-6K avg in mining skills. Its too bad when MA revamped mining they did not retro peoples skill gains from what they got in the past when skill gain was very hard to attain. I have always mined but I hunt too. I feel sorry for someone who worked so very hard to get their prospecting up over 1K in the past, whiched helped them do quite well to now have people mining maybe a month to attain about the same skill gain. But life and PE are not fair. I hope this helps for a better understanding.

I am not a stats guy so this is just my personal experience and observations since the updates and in the past. Before the mining update I considered myself a low to mid skilled miner my biggest find was a Massive Duru. Since the new VU my skills are really high by past standards 2K propecting 3K mining, enmatter skills are little lower but I might still be considered low-to mid skilled it just depends on what the range MA has set for mining skill now my biggest find since the update was a huge Growth molecules. I mine alot and I break even more than I loose but I have yet to break the 1K tt mark in mining. This is also speculation but there are other skills associated with mining other than the traditional ones (perception, serendipity, computer, engineering, etc) these may also have an impact on how well you suceed. No one knows for sure only MA does. :) again hope this all helps out and Good luck

Yep may be , but Without their ubber they do not find much…

I blame not MA, just I find that strange.

Sirhc, You’ve a good conclusion and reflexion

Fellow miners,

Please bear in mind what we can sell the resources for, you cant take the mark-up out of the equation.

Lately some of the different en-matters and ores have had the market flooded, but i think as people play more the price will go back up.

I’m a total noob miner and in the short-term tend to see a loss, however if i look long term im well ahead (occasional global, robot beacon, hof)

I still think alot of it is luck but hey im a noob

I bump into Stormer every once in a while and he went with us(DNA) on a Robot beacon mission sometime ago. He is a very nice guy and a long time player. I don’t know exactly what his mining skills are but I am sure like anyone who who has played this game for a while he has dabbled in every profession a little. Again skills will not guarantee you a ATH mining HOF (I can’t say this enough). That is luck, Lootius, and MAs loot system :D. I have seen very skilled miners to low skilled miners get huge HOFs in mining. Skills will just help you be more efficient which in turn will give you more chances to find an ATH. Its sort of the same in hunting the more skilled you are the more efficiently you use your toolset the more chances you get to kill that beastie with a nice HOF or item. To consistently get HOFs in mining now(since the update) you might need to have skill sets compared to some of the super uber hunters that HOF regularly. No one knows for sure thats why there is so much discussion over the skills = loot corelations. I am sure with the next ATH that surpasses Stormers everyone will question that persons skills too.

what i think since i came back and done well over 10k+ bombs the last 2½ weeks:
mining = casino
skills = useless
MA = as annoying and gambling promoting as ever :]

well realy before i knew my skills did atleast something now im lucky to get a stone lyst more from them i doubt i even get that also for 1½ week constant mining(yes i have a lot of time to kill :P) i only got one hof 265 peds or something if i did that earlier i would get atleast 5 finds above or around 200-300
well i guess they decided to do to mining what they did to hunting…
and sure ore sells for good amounts its hard to make a real bad loss but its annoying to see that skills doesnt matter anymore

as for knowledge about mining in general sure it helps but it doesnt do much good when there are 4+ people mining the same area as you are 24/7

what is good however is the fact that info is shown on tools even if it doesnt seem to do much ^^

Only major difference I see from then (before mining event) and now is deposits were programmed to be much farther apart. This was fine during the mining event since the deposit sizes were increased because of the asteroid. So like CND, you found less deposits, but found more size in each. Problem is, week before mining amps came out, deposit sizes were decreased back down ..but thats fine because now you can buy amps, still you find less deposits, but again find more in size.

So essentially, if you arent using an amp and/or arent at CND then mining is about the same but the deposits are farther spread out…which dramatically decreases the odds of you finding anything. And if you are with an amp or on CND then it is costing you more to mine, but the sizes are larger. This is by design… and is what mining has turned into. I dont think the base of skills has been effected that much..perhaps even enhanced. I look at it like this…if deposits are now placed 2x farther apart, then that decreases the effectiveness of my skills by half. Still the same skills with the same powers, but the target is much farther away.

Added to that is the fact there are now lots of deposits where there were very little or none before…Amethera and TI. And the new ones that are there are much higher TT ores/matters than use to be there (Gold, Quantium, Terrudite, Azzurdite, Alferix, etc). + there is CND now (the deopsits had to come from $omewhere). So the closer together sustainable deposits we use to find are now spread out farther and over 2-3 map zones. The way I feel it, is like every even # deposits was sent to Amethera and all the odd # deposits stayed on Eudoria. I assume CND’s deposits and mob loots came from a portion of the sale price.

My last guess for the decrease in mining deposits (even though seems just as many bombs/or more are being used) has to do with what I am guessing to be the last phase in the LG, when new land areas of Amethera are going to be opened up (purely Morg Theory  )…and those ore/mats also have to come from somewhere.

edit: I feel they started collecting for something a few days ago, most of the tiny’s I am getting are barely over .50ped now.

I dont know if other miners have noticed it, but the amount of mining sites is better during some times than others and always when the game is constantly dishing out hofs.

I tryed,without writing something,but i have too.
Since landgrab started im down 400 ped in mining.Wrong places, maybe on 5 runs, but all the time…

I would say that we dont find much, because MA dont want us to find much:)

Good point. But I have to disagree with you a bit. The fact is that mining doesn’t quite follow the mark-up anymore. Hell .. maybe if everything was at 200% or more  then I might agree.

And for those who don’t believe the fact that skills are USELESS , well I’m sorry to say that you are mistaken. Entire Project Asylum Corp. (a legendary mining society with skilled miners) agrees with the point about mining skills being utterly useless.

Every top miner does. The mining system is indeed flawed.

Why was there no place in vote for “I have been doing ok”?
