Project Entropia 2003/2004 game files

I’m looking for a copy of the game files from the old Project Entropia from the 2003 - 2004 era.

I can easily find the old PE installer, but that does not include all the game files.
It would have downloaded those during installation and obviously those resources don’t exist anymore.
It’s the files that were downloaded that I’m interested in!

The files I need are the Models.btn and Textures.btn file.
Alternatively, it could also be an .ark file (which is the archive the PE setup would download).

I did manage to find the files from a 2008-era version of EU and I’ve been playing around with those, creating a viewer for them:

The models are used for a little pet project of mine that allows an old fart like me to enjoy those lost days of PE (it has the old PE music in the background too… goosebumps):

If anyone can help me get the files from 2003, 2004 or maybe 2005, please let me know!

I would love if someone could reverse engineer this old game and make it playable.

Maybe MA can give us the files if we asking kindly. :folded_hands:

I got in touch with someone who is working on preservation and got the game files of a very old VU from early 2003.

Oh that would be fun to explore, there were some Project Entropia CDs as I recall. Hanging out in bars and decorating with Mind essence and bottles of sweat. Yeah by 2008 they had already upgraded the avatars. 2005 was my nostalgic zone

What a fun little project, BruuD! Very intriguing indeed. I have several old HDs and PCs collecting dust in my attic, lemme check if I find something. No promises, as these old HDs and an unheated attic don’t play well together, and we count already decades since these great times LOL

For sure MA will have those files lying around tough, but given that all that is proprietary, I would not count on getting them. However, asking nicely costs nothing, on the other hand. So just give it a try. Nothing to loose, but much to gain!

Hehehe, and a thought just popped up in my ageing head: As we are now going back to the Unreal Engine, and the original PE was running on Unreal, MA could create a new planet called “Planet Nostalgia” or something along these lines, with the original PE map and contents. I personally would not mind this planet’s economy not being integrated into the actual EU economy (would be hard to do with Loot 2.0 and the different skills and mechanics now). Hell, I would even pay PEDs to visit, now and then, the very original PE. 2005 is the year I logged in for the first time (and I am still doing it 21 years later). Being just there once more, visiting all the different places, getting back the look and feel of how our journey started … yes, nostalgic zone alert for me as well. And I am absolutely sure that this place would be filled in no time with ancient faces and famous players, and perhaps would get some of them back for good.

Ahhhh … what a nice thought! Of course, I would not bet on it, but at least I will sleep well tonight, remembering what once was, and what could be.

Anyway, I will pay my attic tomorrow a visit. I know that I still have my old PC up there, question is if the time, dust and weather took pity on it or not. Update pending …
