Problems creating avator (and logging in)

I don’t see a troubleshouting forum in here, so maybe this is the place to put this question.

I just downloaded PE, the installation was complete, acocuntname registered, firewall settings made etc. But now when I login is don’t see an avater, only some hair and that’s all, no body or arms or legs, is this normal?? That’s the first question.

Allright, now here’s the real problem, when I am creating my avator (or at least trying too, only hair untill now) I get kicked out of the game after 2 minutes (that was the longest session) Sometimes after 10 seconds, really annoying. What I did was resetting the setting to minimun requirements, 60hz video, no sound, 54kbps speed etc, everything to a minimum, that helped for a little bit, it gave me a few more seconds. I also uninstalled the game, removed all the files, and installed the game again, still the same problem. I upgraded my video and sound card and installed the newest directx version.

I also requisted a report on the site, but does anyone know what can be the problem? Maybe router settings? And what’s the cause of the disconnect? my internet speed is 330kbps @ www.speedtest.nl (dutch speedtest site.) So it can’t be my connection,

further stats:

Windows xp home with sp2
1 gb ram memory
Intel pentium r 1.6 ghz
64mb video
60 gb hd

sorry.. your video card cant handle this game. At only 64MB of video memory, most likely a cheap integrated intel card, you wont be able to handle many games released in the last year or two. Update you video card and you’ll be fine.

I concur..your video cards ram is only half the Minimum required to play PE.

The game is a graphix and RAM hog, erst your getting booted during the creation Process.

Wow, don’t be so certain. I play PE just fine on my 32mb video card in my laptop. ATI Moble 7000 or something like that. Nice that you were so sure of your self though.

I can only recommend making sure that you have the latest drivers for your hardware and try all sorts of different settings.

Good luck

That’s true, it’s a Dell pc, so it’s probably a cheap card. But I’m playing on a laptop, so a better graphics card can’t be added I think. Or can it?

And the minimum requirements are 32 mb for a video card and I have 64 mb with a crappy card, so isn’t that enough? It’s a intel 82852/82855 video card. Not supported by MindArk

Madhoax, I play on a DELL Lattidue c640 1.8Ghz p4, 512MB ram, ATI Mobility 7000 w/ 32MB ram. You should be able to get it to work.

I had to make sure I had the absolute latest drivers from DELL’s website though for my exact laptop. The ATI supplied driver (the one given in the PE Client Loader) did not work.

Good luck

Madhoax is using internal graphics, which to put it simply, suck bollocks. :frowning:

Carebear, you’ve got a proper graphics card, which although isn’t 7800 GT standard, it’s good enough to get PE playing on it.

To play PE, or any other new game, you’re going to need a new graphics card; what games can you play with that comp?

Tis True, Dell laptop here, upgraded from a c640 to a Inspiron 9300, all i can say is stay away from Miniopolis… :wise:

otherwise, it will work, but you wont really be happy in the game till you get a really rocking vid card.

later.

I repeat you wont be able to get it to work. i’m sure of it carebear, absolutely sure.. 100%. he is using a cheap intel card with shared memory. In your case carebear your using a none integrated card, possibly an AGP type card(2GB bandwidth), as opposed to Madhoax card which is a integrated PCI type(132MB bandwidth). You card has dedicated memory for graphic, his does not.

Carebear - You are currently experiencing a very watered down version of PE with your card, if you want to experience the full glory of PE then move to a 256MB card ie. GeForce Go 6800 256Mb as i did in march, and yahoowiee its a completely different game.

O and sorry Madhoax, you cant upgrade your laptop’s card. Now the new lappy’s with GeForce FX Go 6800 cards can be upgraded

I didn’t say my laptop was my only computer
It also runs fine on my desktop with an overclocked ATI 9700 128MB

oh, and I have a mobility 7500, not 7000

Carebear - Good for you. and what differences do you notice between the two? is your slow lappy stable enough for you to use in any kind of meaningful way? do you crash when you open your inventory box or try and repair armor? what kind of lag occurs in citys, woods, large spawns etc?

Um, considering my first post when I said “I play PE just fine on my 32mb video card in my laptop.”, I would take that to mean… I play PE just fine on my 32mb video card in my laptop. I have my fair share of lag in cities sure, but other than that it is fine. Thats not to say that playing on my desktop isn’t a much better experience, just that my laptop is usable

Maybe it is the graphics card, I found the status system and the only thing that shows the red icon is the driver, I assume this is the videocard driver.

Driver: Unknown, build 4363

I don’t know if this is the videocard, but it’s strange that I only see hair in the avator creation. So no EP for me…

Well, my computer whizz little brother came home and he opened the different ports on the router, the ports were already opened on my laptop. The game still crashes, I adjusted some of the settings in the configuration screen and in the client loader, it still crashes, I only see hair and I’m getting really annoyed with all the crashes, almost starting to swear here. So I’m quitting for today, I have little hope that it will work tommorow, my laptop is brand new, a few months old, other games run perfectly on this machine, except this game, so I’m not putting any much effort in this game anymore, although I really want to play it.

Maybe something is coming out of the report I send to Mindart, but I don’t see what they can do to help me. External graphic cards are not available I heard, and I’m not going to buy a new laptop, my desktop is another option, but the graphic driver in there is even worse I think.

Specs of your desktop please.

ehm

amd athlon 1.2 ghz
256 mb ram
100 gb hd
nvidia gforce 2 mx/mx 400
win xp prof

But I don’t use the desktop that very often, I use my laptop now, my desktop is in Gorssel, my hometown, and I study in Arnhem, where I am during the week, so when I install the game on the desktop I can only play in the weekend, and I have no time in the weekend (soccer, sleeping etcetc. :P), but maybe I will transfer the desktop to Arnhem then…

(problems problems :P)

get another stick of ram (256 or 512, they’re dirt cheap  ) and you could play fine, haven’t tried playing with 256, although you could try.

ok

but i’m a student, I have to work really hard to earn my beers :stuck_out_tongue: So a stick of ram costs a lot of beer, haha. But maybe I’ll do this.

Downloading right now as a matter a fact, 37 minutes to go with 300 kbps!

(I’m in Gorssel right now, tomorrow is my day off)

Downloaded and installed, and it works perfect, at least I see the whole avator and I don’t get kicked off…

Slightly off topic but I have an Inspiron 8200 and I had terrible problems with Minopolis when I had 512MB mem. After upgrading to 1GB Minopolis is no different than any other city. For me the bottleneck was RAM and not the graphics card.
