Plot holes

This is not meant as bashing at MA, I think they do a serious good job with the story of PE. But we still have some unanswered questions regarding the last event. I’ll try to summarize some questions I have, and hopefully MA will solve them one way or another:

  • How did the Thorio aqquire the artifact?

  • Did the artifact help them grow in numbers, if so, how?

  • If the Thorio are so intelligent that they understood the power of the weapon, how come they chose such a weak strategy of attack?

  • Why didn’t the Thorio Warlord use the weapon in battle?

  • What is so special about the weapon, making it able to end the world (One of the distress-signals claims something like this).

  • Some will claim the weapon is magical or such, but if so, wouldn’t it be easy for the Federal Empire to trace it? If it submits some kind of energyfield, it shouldn’t be that hard.

  • Will the finder now have the ability to bring down the world?

  • A weapon so strong as claimed in the distress-signals would be much more valued for the Empire.

Hope someone with a bit of imagination can help me with this.

it has the power of HOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Thunder thunder thunder thunder CATS!

  • How did the Thorio aqquire the artifact?

They found it in the belly of a ripper snapper whilst out fishing

  • Did the artifact help them grow in numbers, if so, how?

Yes, it did help them. When the males weilded this great axe, all the women would faint and then wake up n offer themselves. This, however, led to a great many pregnancies amongst the female Thoriods

  • If the Thorio are so intelligent that they understood the power of the weapon, how come they chose such a weak strategy of attack?

They were all stoned

  • Why didn’t the Thorio Warlord use the weapon in battle?

He didn’t like the decay

  • What is so special about the weapon, making it able to end the world (One of the distress-signals claims something like this).

If I told you - I’d have to kill you

  • Some will claim the weapon is magical or such, but if so, wouldn’t it be easy for the Federal Empire to trace it? If it submits some kind of energyfield, it shouldn’t be that hard.

Naah… it’s only a rumour that was spread for shits n giggles.. s’just a big axe

  • Will the finder now have the ability to bring down the world?

Nup.. but he could try.

  • A weapon so strong as claimed in the distress-signals would be much more valued for the Empire.

Not really. It’s actually a hoax. The axe is designed to break after the 3 month warranty is up..

Well it sounded like it was made by some kind of religeous cult so maybe its a case of faith that its very powerfull. Maybe the other one is the doomsday weapon…

best answer ever!

Some Anti-Empire propoganda.

The Empire lies!

The Empire was transporting that item here to be used in case of a colonist uprising when the transport was attacked by robots an crashed landed on Amethera. This is where the Thorio claimed it.

The empire lead us to believe that the weapon that the Thorio claimed would destroy calypso as we know it. It was all a extremely well staged hoax. While we were in danger from the thorio they are still to simple minded to realize that the axe was a powerful weapon. Some say that the Thorio Warlord was using the axe as a totem instead of a weapon. Doubt has been cast on weather or not the Warlord even knew how to activate the weapon.

The axe can not destroy calypso. It is just a powerful weapon. The empire was affronted that a savage would have an artificat that was as important to their history as this one is. They knew that the only way to recover such an artifcact was to tell the colonist that they were in danger. The colonist were in danger, but no where near as much as the Empire lead them to believe.

The Empire lies! Why do you think they have abandoned us here are calypso.

Rebel! Do not believe the lies of the Empire. We have always defended calypso on our own. Declare our independence from the fat cow that is bleeding our lands dry.

we could use this to fill some of the plot holes

I like wrens idea but I think it should be more like. The Thoriod found it in the wreckage of a trasnporter ambushed by robots, when the empire found out they had it they were scared the robots would find it first and reproduce it en mass. If the robots had found it they would have issued it to all the thoriod’s in exchange for peace ith them and a contract to kill all humans. The empire found out about this and decieded they must think of a way to gather an army substantial enough to get the artifact before the robots found out its technology etc.

I think Ultimababes answers were the best

  • How did the Thorio aqquire the artifact?

Don’t be daft! fishing?
They found it on a car boot sale, like David Dickenson they thorught it was cheap as chips and bourght it straight away. It was only when they had it valued by an auctioneer did they realise it was worth something, so they ate the auctioneer and decided to kill stuff with it!

  • Did the artifact help them grow in numbers, if so, how?

You see the blue glow on the edge of the axe? Viagra!

  • If the Thorio are so intelligent that they understood the power of the weapon, how come they chose such a weak strategy of attack?

It was the caveman mentallity!
Got big axe gonna smash stuff!
plus they proberly where stoned, as previously stated, they sure as hell looked like it.

  • Why didn’t the Thorio Warlord use the weapon in battle?

He hadn’t been able to skill his longblades after that VU

  • What is so special about the weapon, making it able to end the world (One of the distress-signals claims something like this).

Its the Viagra edge, it will make you f*** anything, so you’d end up f’ing somit up so badly the world would vanish is a poof of logic.

  • Some will claim the weapon is magical or such, but if so, wouldn’t it be easy for the Federal Empire to trace it? If it submits some kind of energyfield, it shouldn’t be that hard.

There network admins where too busy playing minesweeper, trying to beat everyon elses highest(lowest?) scores. Because fo this none of the scanners and sensors worked. (hey its what my boss does!)

  • Will the finder now have the ability to bring down the world?

They will be too busy answering questions on how uber cool the axe is to do anything at all!

  • A weapon so strong as claimed in the distress-signals would be much more valued for the Empire.

Yeah but that would mean actually landing and finding it and that like takes effort yeah… if they are so powerful and empirish they woulda killed the blue meanies themselves… instead they ran and hid, so now they are gonna run and hide from CC instead!

Well, like any large bureaucracy the men and women running G.A.I.A. and the Federal Empire make statements that are not entirely true in order to accomplish their goals.

While it’s true that this Warlord and his clan could have wreaked much havoc on Amathera and, Lootius-forbid, Eudoria, they posed only a fraction of the threat represented by the Akbal/Cimi Base Matrix.

Still, this is a time to crack open a few bottles of Alice and celebrate! I would like to make a toast to Dreicc and Rea. We normal folk criticize the uber societies for their snobbery and hoarding but we must remember that they also use their knowledge, skills, and gear to defend the human race.

Hopefully, some of the value of this Unique Legend War Axe will go towards the development of War Ships and Quantum Bombs so we can end the robot menace and reclaim our rightful place in the Universe.

For Calypso! For Humanity!
