Petition to change/improve laser handgun sound and visual effect

Hi everyone,

Since Setesh update with the new UL 80% Setesh P1 Civilian Sidearm the sound and visual effect for most of the laser handguns was changed at the same time.

Affected guns (to my knowledge - surely I am missing many here): LP-Series, Macmahon Series, Armatrix series (?), Igni-series (?), New Setesh pistols

Sound change: From an iconic “pewpew” sound to a cheap toy gun sound. Volume low in comparison to other sounds ingame (which in this case is a blessing). Sound is also bugged and cancels a lot of other sounds ingame and gets cancelled by even more other sounds. The sound also feels ‘unnatural’ in the sense that it starts and ends very abruptly which makes it feel artificial and difficult to listen to.

Visual change: From an iconic laser beam to a turquoise, barely visible fog.

Me personally I really dislike both the new sound and visual effect. It is so bad that I am mostly playing the game muted at this point which in my opinion makes the game feel even less alive.

What do you guys think? I opened a poll - am interested to hear your opinions and see if I’m the only one bothered by this change!

For me it’s simple. I dislike both.

The beam should be an actual laser beam. So, instant, not like a projectile.
As for sound. Let it sound like the oldskool PE laser sounds. Or more like the Fallout series laser sounds for instance.

Is there a way to turn off gun sounds completely without also turning off other noises? If not I want that option

They have to make a BP-120 Perfected so you can switch to BLP sound :smiley: /jk.
I agree with the sound issue. Even my bp-70 perfected seems out of sync with sound with hyperstims. The game’s sound system is super outdated and is in dire need of an overhaul.
Personally I would like to be able to have separate sliders for:
My own avatar:
Pets, Tools, Weapons, Globals, Hofs.
Other avatars:
Pets, Tools, Weapons, Globals, Hofs.

Most MMORPG in modern era has this ability… Entropia sound engine is stuck in 2005 or something.
Problem is they don’t know how to modify it, it seems as they are STILL unable to fix the sound issue on Aris (where it stops working and you need to disable sounds and enable again to make it work).

Not to my knowledge no.

Yeah and sounds in general are quite unbalanced in volume as well. Let’s hope they can fix the laser pistol sound before the full sound system is upgraded :slight_smile:

Bump - I heard they changed sound on Frontier Rifle from starter pack in yesterday’s patch? I guess those changes would apply for C80 and C120 as well

To me, the new sound is like a stapler or some such. Not really fitting of my C-120 BGH. It deserves a better sound.

I don’t know about laser pistols, but it’s long-term problem. I dislike most of the laser weapons sounds

Sound engineer did a terrible job.

But I guess it could be worse. The “meow” sound of some ark weapons are the worst.

I am fully onboard with Baldurn’s idea of changing the current gun sounds with loud farts, on all weapons, no matter the ammo used.

I also propose to change the global/hof sounds with a small and big toilet flush respectively.

This would bring millions of new players to the game.

78.6% is a fairly resounding “it’s not working for us” vote I think. Mind you, it’s only 22 people :smiley:

So 30 votes in total, of which 26 has an opinion.

25/26 (96,2%) of voters dislikes the new sound.
22/26 (84,6%) of voters dislikes the new visual effect.

Even though this is just a fraction of the playerbase I think this still is a clear message that the change was for the worse.

i would like a visual and sound update to old pistols like MM.

i like the new sound. the old one sounded to “juicy”

When I initially heard the [Frontier Hunting Rifle, Adjusted] after update, I thought my speakers had blown.
Reminded me of those while teen years blasting my busted car speakers like a boss.

MA please make em sound good again!
