How exactly does an orefinder work?
Do you mean how do you use one ingame?
or do you mean, how are they supposed to function if one was real?
in the game…is it like a dectonator or are there differences. I can’t find any info on one.
basicallly the same. except with the orefinder, you have to run away from the bomb. it explodes above ground, unlike the probes, which explode underground.
other than that, yeah pretty much the same.

Its the same thing. The difference is just that the Orefinders are the newly crafted versions of the detectonator.
Before MA made all the crafting changes the crafted versions were also named detectonators, thats why you can find MD20,30,40 and 50 on the market.
Edit: I almost forgot. Orefinders have a higher decay than the detectonators.

They aint better, they only have a higher tt and decay compared to the MD´s.
Noone knows if theres a real difference between a MD10 and MD50 or OF101 and 105, some say the higher lvl MD/OF has a higher range, but theres no real prove for that.
Infact, people have found and still find vasts and enormouses with a MD10/Of101, so I dont know if its necessary to buy a higher lvl Detectonator.
If there are no more details coming from MA (they want to add details to the tools since ages) its more a matter of faith I think and I truly believe that my MD50 helps me more than a lower lvl finder would do :silly2: 
Nobody knows for sure how they help , but they do help.
I think they may work kind of in the same way that scopes and laser sights.

I have an OF-105 and a MF-103 and I’ve noticed that the hits I get, on average, seem to be a little better. Then again, I don’t know if that’s because my skills are better or what. I would assume it has to have benefit or why would the tt price be more?
