I’ve been playing for about a month now. I’ve put 30 USD into the game and now have 50 PEDs and a handful of half quality Jester D-1s.
I’ve been giving the whole concept of this game some serious thought.
The whole gimmick of the game is that you can make real money by working in the game like you would in real life. So my guess is that most people are playing to try and make a buck. Is this really possible. When I was a kid, I used to find all kinds of ways to get rich. My mother would always tell me “If that works, why doesn’t everybody lick envelopes for a living?” True.
So here is the question. Is it possible for everyone to make money? Or are we in a competition where someone eventually gets screwed.
In the real world, the bottom rung of the ladder is the people who collect natural resources. Those resources are refined and turned into products which is sold to yuppie scum all over the world.
Same situation in PE. Miners gather minerals, hunters gather wool, noobs gather sweat. So it should work.
The only thing that begins to concern me is that the resources on earth are here because God put them here. God has no financial needs. The God of PE is named MindArk, and unfortunately the entropian diety is out to make a buck.
So if MindArk ever gets into a situation where they can’t keep paying out, they can do stuff. Mineral shortages, crafting machines break, animal extinctions, all of these can control the PE economy.
MindArk gets to keep 3% of the money you send them via credit card. They also keep the PEDs you use to buy anything from the TT. Also, they cash in on the auctions too. Then they get $10 if you try to get your money out of the game, and they get to keep the money of anyone who gives up on the game before they have enough to cash out.
In the end, I think anyone who wants to make money is going to have to prey on the people who are going to give up.
just a thought
