Noobs In Space

Yeah. We don’t belong there. I tried it out last night and it was the worst mistake of my life…

Then again, it really wasn’t my fault. My society leader talked me into taking a ride into space with him, because he was bringing up two other people. (I figured it was just going to be for the ride to see space.)

THAT was extremly wrong. We got up there went through a maze of halls and then we come to a spot with “BioDomes”. I am completly clueless as to what is going one and the next thing I know they are talking about hunting.

Keep in mind that while on route to the hanger we were making decent peds killing Corns. I mean, 13 Peds, 9 Peds, 9 Peds, 5 Peds, and a few PEC’ers, but very few and they didn’t want to hunt them?!?!?!

So, I’m all confused but always up for skilling so I go for it.

Big Mistake.
I use 2x0’s , because I started skilling with a long blade and didn’t mess with guns too much, so my long blades is like 2500 compaired to my rifle at maybe 500.
I hate guns.
Either way, I go in gunho, “HOORAH!”, I swing 3 times take about 100 points off it, it’s life doens’t even flinch, and it swings back…
DEAD.
One hit and the thing killed me.
So, I switched armor (Rascle to Ghost), faped myself and went back in…
DEAD.

So, I ask the people with me if I am just going for the biggest baddest ones out there and they tell me that I am not… I am going after the little thing. The ones with “weak” in thier name…

Well, I try again, this time as a team and we start killing stuff, but I am making ZERO money and taking weapon damage and armor damage like cray, because they have it on damage deciedes…

Me, with 3 2x0’s, swinging my butt of and fapping like crazy and them using Adjusted Mini Sweepers and Maddox 4’s…

Who do you think is doing the damage?

Yeah. So I broke team and left the “BioDome” and went exploring, because I was never going to make any Peds that way.

Needless to say, there is NOTHING up there. It’s an extremely boring place to hang out with next to no-one there, no stores, no auction… Nothing.

The coolest thing up there is this little bar (Still don’t know why there are bars in this game, yet) up there that had a jukebox that when you activated it it made strippers come out.

One was a MALE stripper in a red thong with abs galore.

Either way, I hung out there for about an hour and thirty minutes waiting for my society leader to get done hunting, not complaining or anything, just talking to my other soc mates on the soc channel telling what was going on up there, because they have yet to go up there, and the next thing I know my soc leader is telling me that he is logging off from up there.

Yep. Stranded in space.
Thankfully, there is a TP up there that costs 10 peds to use to get back down to Port Atlantis or I would have had a really fun game experance for the rest of my time; trying to sweat mobs that kill you with a touch…

FUN FUN

So… If your society leader ever tries to take you guys up in space to the old space station…

Don’t go. It’s a waste of time unless he wants to let you borrow a Maddox 4 or something huge.

:wise: Side Note: That’s why I quit that society, because it was like he was going out of his way to get me to go up there with him to see space and didn’t so much as even mention hunting. Hell, he was passing up good loots to go up there, so I was thinking it was for anything but hunting… And then he ditches me up there, knowing that I’m just hanging out, talking on the society channel that he can see.
That’s not team. He knew I have only been playing for 3 weeks, knew my wepons and armor, and knew that I wasn’t ready for it, but went out of his way to get me up there…
And ditched me.

Not got any Goblin armor? It’s the best armor for space… Acid Protection

I space it’s always a good plan to have a couplo medics on hand too.. sorry to hear you had a shite time up there

Even with ML35, Goblin and EK2600 the weak’s are damn difficult to kill. The problem is they hit so damn fast…

Teamwork is a must.

Thanks hun and no. No goblin armor. I have Pixie, Gnome, Kobold, Rascle, and Ghost. The people up there with me were using Gremlin and Vigilante… It’s okay. I learned the hard way that just cause your a soc leader, your not a butthole… Some people get like that when they hit the bottle.

Yeah but can you do team work on a Damage Deciedes team when they are all using ranged wepons that do more damage then your melee weapons? You will just lose money.

yea, space really isn’t the place for melee. fast reloading weapons are a must an decent faps. gremlin seems to be the armor of choice now too. so 2 people with maddox 4s, ek2600 and full gremlin shouldn’t have too much problem in the lower lvl domes.

Thats in perticular why i always tell noobs to NOT CHOOSE melee weapon to start with. Skilling is very slow. HP benefits are minimal. Pure melee fighters show very slow prof standing progress and unlock major hp boosting skills like serendipity, coolness, combat sense much later than guns users. And ultimately, there is NO FUTURE for melee fighters. Almost all high-level mobs are unhuntable with melee weapons unless you have some serious HP (>180 i’d say) and uber fap. Also they suck in team because guys who do most dmg/sec get better slice in globals ripping off less fortunate sword-bearers :P.
As for space, it becomes very fun and profitable only since certain level. When you can finish small stuff before them reach you and you dont die on each mob losing the opportunity to get a global. Also, take care about better equipped hunters/teams hunting in same dome since its alot more likely that THEM will get a global needed for either you or them to break even or make a little profit.

Yeah. I was thinking about changing up weapons. I love my long blades, but I just need that extra range for some of the bigger mobs.. (ie 'Trox Old Alpha’s)
Personally though, I think I am pretty good with my long blades though. I have only been playing a little more then 3 weeks and I can take a 'Trox Old, Feff Outcasts and 'Trax Young solo already…

I want more though… So, it looks like I am going to have to upgrade soon…

Well, I can take up to trox dom with kat determination and vigi and I think I have around the same lb as you…

All depends on evade skills and hp

I learnt my lesson pretty much the same way, the hard way.

I was in a team where the other members had some pretty good ranged weapons, and I was trying to slash away with my 2x0 axe. The axe degraded more than I was making from the hunt, so I actually lost PEDs on it.

Now I always try to remember to check the following:
[ol]
[li]What kind of mobs are we going to hunt?[/li][li]Then specify what kind of weapons I have and intend to use[/li][/ol]

In my opinion, it takes experience to be a good team leader. A good team leader will check which weapons the team members will use, and position them accordingly.

One of the team formations that I’ve found to be working well is a wide V-formation:

[ul]
[li]A player with good armour up front, with a rifle with wide range to attrackt the mobs one at the time[/li][li]Flanking the front player on either side, slightly behind him/her: players with melee weapons[/li][li]Further back, and further aside: those with ranged weapons[/li][/ul]

I felt worthless, having contributed so little to the team on that disastrous occasion, that I even posted an apology in our society forum.

I got some very good replies, among them postings where it was explained that it wasn’t my fault, but due to lack of planning. Some postings also described some team tactics.

All in all, it was a good discussion and, as a result, I think that we are now all better at hunting as a team.

what i always liked was to go on opalo hunts with freinds, and have one guy up in front with a 1x0, and 4-5 guys behind him shooting it. the guy with the axe got a good cut, and everyone could at least afford to rep up guns/axes

You are Melee Hunter, so better team up with melee hunters. There is no problem if only one does a single shot to pull a mob.
All Longbladers, Knifefighters and Fisters just have to wait untill the Mob is close enough.
