I know that it cost more to use an MM8000 rifle than an outback when you count ammo burn and decay etc. But if you shoot a mob with an MM8000, does it give more skill than shooting same mob with outback ? I guess what i’m asking, Is it faster skilling with a higher end weapon than a lower end one, even tho the cost is greater.

You will get faster skills using a jester d-1 killing low end mobs. The reason is its all about how fast you fire. The more you fire (faster fire rate) the faster your skills will go up!

More specifically, you gain a set amount of skill each time you do an action. So one shot of a D1 gives you the same amount of skills as one shot of the most expensive gun in the game, so the faster you shoot the faster you skill up
For fast skillgain I recomend getting a Mann MPH handgun to start, even if you don’t plan on using handguns in the long run. It’s basically the same efficiency wise as the D1, but it fires twice as fast. The only thing it won’t give you skillwise is Rifle, but it will build Deal Ranged Damage and Aim and the like up quite fast. Then start skilling with a D1 to build your rifle skill and continue building your ranged attack skills.

I think you mean Inflict Ranged Damage 
anyways, he is right… what i would do is skill HG until about LG qualification, then work on rifle… that way you wont do too baadly with a rifle because you have the other skills already up at a high level
