first of all i want to say hi to everyone since is the first time i post at this forum
second i would like to know if anyone noticed something wrong when crafting since i decided to try and craft a little to get some skill since i’m still making setler shins and i would love to craft other things.
the problem is that i got no skill, not even an increase on the blueprint quality.
i only crafted 23 shins (or tryed to craft it) but before this vu i alway got at least 10 skill increases if i crafted that amount.
anyone knows what happening???
From what I can gather, from now on, if you don’t hunt/craft/mine at or above your current level, then you’ll get little to no skill points. Since I’m a hunter, I’ll use hunting terms here.
My current skill level with rifle is 416. I used to use a low grade weapon (jester d-2) and hunt exarosaurs and daikiba youngs, and skill normally. After this last VU, if I try doing that, I get itsy-bitsy to absolutely NO skill points because my experience is waaaaaaaay beyond those low end mobs. They’re now officially noob mobs, and only noobs will be able to get any skills on them.
Now, how am I supposed to find out what kinds of mobs I should hunt? I have no idea.
Anyway, I would guess that crafting is going a smiliar route. If you crafting level is above that of a bp, then you’ll get little to no skill points on that bp.
Does that make sense?
As a disclaimer, I could be completely wrong about this, and if I am, then I pray that someone will correct me, as I’d like to know the definate decoding of the new skill system.
Anyway, I hope I’ve helped a little…

Yep. i will add my take on things. One, when i try to craft it CTD. This has happened in the past, i take it that its not a server wide thing since obviously you CAN craft. So i also will use the hunting thing since its all i can do.
I had 4000 ammo and a 796 rifle. After 3500 round of ammo and killing drone 01 and 02 and molisk my rifle is now 850!! Thanks for that one MA. NOW it seems like there IS a reason to buy decent stuff and kill higher level mobs!!!
As soon as i can craft i will let you know about that.
One other thing. My soc m8 had a good point. He just bought a marber bravo. The range that you can now see mobs is LESS than his max range. Messed up i think. So will bravo go even cheaper now??
Suicide
thanks for the answers
just tried myself to huunt a bit witht a friend and i must say that it sucks now
don’t know if its all a bug and it will be fixed or if MA inteded that stuff stay like they are at the moment.
that i don’t gain almost no skill from dakiba’s is ok, afterall thay are extra easy to kill, at leat the young, but berycled are still an average mob to me and i get almost no skill.
like i said i’m going to wait a few days since i hope that i’m only affected by pessimist ideias and that MA fixes all this.
i must say that if this don’t get better then i’m probably retire from the game
it will be a pity since i love the game but at the moment as the stuff are is not possible for someone with low funds like me
Here’s my take on Crafting skill gains under the new VU:
Before the VU I crafted a run of 50 Settler Shins, and gained 5 ranks in Mechanics, 6 in Armor Technology and 6 more in another armor crafting skill, plus my BP QR went from 1 to 8. To me decent gains considering I had no skill or QR to start with.
Last night after the VU I decided to do a quick test run for another 50 Settler Shins.
Skill rank gains = 0 ! not a single skill rank, in fact for the entire 50 attempt run I only got 1 of each skill gain message, and the actual percentage gain was VERY low..maybe the bar moved 10% at the very most. My QR did increase, but only 2 points.
End Result is crafting is totally messed up in my opinion. True I only did a small 50 attempt run, and had about as much success actually making the shins as I did the previous run (Resulting in only a 7 ped TT value loss for materials) but skills weren’t even CLOSE to the previous run.
I’ll be putting my Blueprint Books (All of them) on the floor in a corner of my apartment until this all gets sorted out.
True I’m a Hunter/Miner and not a Crafter/Tailor but I see no point in starting now when it would appear that MA has flipped the way skills are gained in Crafting as compared to Hunting.
When hunting it would SEEM that skill gain is tied to the difficulty of the mob your facing and the equipment you’re using - and if you have high skill you need to hunt on harder mobs to gain skills. Low ranks in a skill still seem to increase at a good rate in some cases (Example: Whip from 1 to over 200 ranks with Argos in only a few hunts) … but not so with Crafting it seems. My armor crafting skills are VERY low, Settler Shins is a low end BP to match my low skills…I should gain skills you’d think…right?
Well no matter, I’ll stick to hunting - Mining I’ll avoid for a bit until I learn more about skill gains in that profession were affected by the VU.
Stay tuned!
I did some mining the other day, skill gains seem to be working correctly/the same as before vu 7.4. the problem now is the radar. Its hard to avoid mobs when there are first of all too many, second of all you cant see them until they are on top of you.
I havent tried mining since the mini patch, the radar seems better, but i think mining is pretty much unaffected as far as skilling, because that would make no sense, since you have no control over whether you get a poor or a vast. if you only got skills on large deposits, that would be ridiculously stupid.
EmptyWalls: Thanks..I kinda thought so but was hesitant. Unfortunately I have serious concerns regarding the market value or Ore/EnMatter now since Crafting seems out of whack so demand might be dropping.
my crafting skills aint high either… about 250 engineering and i dont get any skills by making pioneer gloves (lvl 2 bp)
But If i change to a higher lvl bp (lets say rascal) I will have a lowsy succes rate making me getting waay beond my normal cost
I really think they screwed it up now ![]()
Agreed, higher costs to actually GET the upper end BPs…higher costs to actually craft the items, and a lower chance of success.
I was sceptical of crafting when I started and avoided it until I realized I could skill and not spend too much - but now, well I’ll go back to hunting and mining only like when I started.
Should be interesting to see how the current crafters adjust their prices for items crafted and high-end BPs looted. Also the market cost of Ore/EnMat might shift rapidly.
LOL! Oh well, I liked hunting and mining more anyway. ![]()
Maybe its time to re-introduce the craftingsystem now where you make parts ( mech, metal, electric ) and from those construct the item ?
That would create both something for the crafters to do as well stimulate the oremarket. Ohh…almost forgot…its also more like crafting instead of the click&sleep we have atm ![]()

i saw Connor in Cape Corinth just after the VU, and he said when talking to dekel that a crafting update will come with VU 7.6 ![]()
so be patient and we’ll wait and see what happens, cuz they have to change it it cant really be that you have to lose 1k peds to get 500 engineering? :bs:

Crafting update will come. Some ppl don’t have the patience to wait for it.
I also hear they had some problems with it. Therefore the long wait. I have waited for new system since VU 5.2.

he also told me chronicle armour would have new and improved graphics 2 vu’s ago and that hasn’t happened yet.
