New auction Fee (VU 8.7)

OK New Vu and new problems.

I’m not the one to complain but I have to wonder about the new auction fee system. As you might know by now the system uses “A regressive markup commission beginning at 5%”. This means that something sold for 1 ped maruk yields roughly 0,55 ped fee and something on 100 ped markup yields a 5.26 ped fee.

Is this just another way for MA to drain the peds from players? After all an item selling for tt+1k now gives MA 50 peds from the previous 1 ped. Following the same lines would this not imply that all items sold on the acution will now cost some 5% more?

Is this a way for MA to fight resellers or is it a way to incress the peds to MA?

Will the 5% markup increse lead to more ppl selling their items on the street wich in turn increese the lag in towns and spams the public chat?

As I see it the benefits of this system is that it’s easier and slightly more profitable to sell low markup items on the auction then it was before. The downside is that it will cost 5% extra to sell higher markup items. Anoter side of this is I think the amount of dumb auctions (opalo for tt+100 and the likes) will increease alot due to the fact that if the item ain’t sold it now only cost 0.5 ped.

So what’s your thougths?

from what i’ve read about it, its supposed to help deter reselling. Also, I like to think that the peds from auction fee’s go back into the loot system :dunce:

my first and only thought is: how will they handle items that are in auction now?

Will they ‘suffer’ both the 1 ped fee AND the 5% fee?

i think this is a very good measure, except the tailorers, but they run shops anyway.

First of all, wrong forum, but I guess a mod will move it.

Second, trying to sell an opalo will cost you 0.50 ped + 2 ped (5% of markup) when you create the auction.

The extra cost for all items which will sell in auction is not 5%, but 10%.
If you list a 10ped TT mk2 for 50 ped and it sells for 80 ped, then the total cost for this auction will be:
0.50 ped + (5% * 40 ped) + (5% * 30 ped) = 4 ped.

Imo this indeed leads to more sales on the streets and an overall increase in item price.

This is MA’s pathetic attempt to improve shops

The drop to 2.5% for shop tax is a welcome addition but you don’t improve shops by screwing the competition (auction), you improve them directly.

oops, sorry - This is MA’s way to make more peds from auction while disguising it as a way to improve shops

oh well, i guess it will help us shopkeepers but I woulda prefered a way that didn’t hurt the auction so much.

Goodbye auction, hello open outcry trading. This means twin and PA will become even more crowded which means more lags there.

pff.

So we had open discussion on auctions.

What did they do, ignore everything said. Its getting easier for me to stop playing this game.

RICO will get rich.

well intially I wasnt happy about the acution change BUT anything that increases the social and commercial interaction between avatars is a good thing

Time to dust the trading section here on EF and add some more categories (weapons / armor etc)

Erk!

PA / Twin is going to be rapidly scrolling mess now! By charging a listing fee and a selling fee MA must be rubbing their hands in glee.

I dont think we’ll see Mod Faps / Supremacy armor etc listed any more thats for certain.

Have to see how it pans out but looks like buying / selling on the forum just became a hell of a lot more attractive.

tsss… i can see it becoming against the EULA…

Hmmm so MA ignored most of the comments they received on auctions.

More spam on the streets and more selling here i guess oh well …

what will happen to the lyst and oil that is most sold on auction the 5% kills the markup so we can better tt it now or miners pay heavy fee for something thats almost tt ?

edit double post of server down :S

You pay 5% over the markup. That means if the markup is less 10 ped (about 100 ped lyst) the total fee will be less then it is now, and the markup is more then 10 ped, then the fee will also be more.

so it seems selling junk with low tt and low tt+ in auction is now cheaper. selling high tt stuff/high tt+ will cost alot more.

this will lead to: only junk in auctions, hardly any big batches of ores/enmat, better stuff sells on streets or shops = more hassle to find an item, market prices get mroe volatile due to the lack of reference prices for auction tracker sites.

glad i still can tt stuff without fee … yet

Please don’t give MA any more ideas to milk us players. I’m betting 100 ped that MA will inplement this within a year
