Nerf Fishermans Hat for the good of the game

As with the ice shield chip. It seems the only reason MA nerfs items (Refiner, Reckoning, Ice shiled) is because of feedback of the players. If thats true I might have a chance here. I generally think that the fishermans hat is bad for the game and needs nerfing and here is why.

All about the hat is fine besides the 10% crafting succesbuff. This basicaly mean each 100 craft you get 4 more of the product you want to craft. With fishing products beeing really high MU items this makes it so without a hat you can’t even do crafting at a loss. Take an 80 ped MU items ( thats sold for 130 ped where 80 ped is the MU). You get 4 more of those in just 100 clicks. This 320 peds. How are you going to compete with someone that always gets 4 clicks more?

MA stated that they will monitor fishing and keep changing stuff. I really think this is one they should change because it’s gatekeeping for all but the once that have it. Aquiring one is purly luck based and you don’t even get your gender when fishing for a hat.

I’ve basically quit over this hat, as have many other crafters

What’s worse is the precedent this sets for future crafting buffs

If its that amazing, and your serious about the profession, would you not just buy one? Its kind of like using L weapons, complaining about UL existing because you have to keep paying markup every day.

At that point, you save up and buy an UL weapon.

Same with rings, you could say lifesteal gives you a massive advantage, people used to pay 40k+ for a lifesteal ring to get the advantage

someone should seriously start a nerfy nerf nerf musical meme and upload it to youtube to insert in to all threads like this.

you can tell who doesn’t craft in here

Should it be more a complaint on the base rate is too low making it impossible to do without the hat? If so, that i get, but its no reason to nerf the hat, sounds more like the base returns need improved rather than trying to knock back the item?

As someone who is cooking and still doing it with no hat my perspective is this: with hat having fishing and cooking buffs where a lot of people do 1 or the other not necessarily both, I think it should be an item with a similiar droprate of the Easter 2024 ring. At a price point of around ~3k ped it could make sense. Cooking is very expensive to get into already and that’s fine and even a good thing to block out the race to the bottom morons on some things. But as it stands now only a couple of people are getting a big advantage over others and it’s just not dropping. No one even wants to open summer boxes because they don’t think the hat is in the pool and they are probably right. Not to mention barely anything else good in summer boxes besides the hat. 1-3 dropping per day on weekends where some people even loot 2 on a big box opening it’d get more people opening. @ 3k ped price point then even casual fishers or cookers would shell out some cash (or a cheapskate like me for example and probably rusty). Having big advantage items is 1 thing but gatekeeping the profession entirely more or less is what this is doing. Even if not right this second, then it will in the near future.

TLDR: raise Hat droprate by 40x

Also fix fishing on RT and NI.

I don’t think many hats will drop, Strongboxes now are kinda waste of time without the buffs.

I mean how many pet name tags does a man need?

I tip my hat (not fishing) to dedicated fishers, i tried hard to like it :).

As for the fishing hats, personally i don’t care.

The problem is the hard gatekeeping. You do have not only higher succesrate hence you can clear out all competition in the long run with scale. You also as far as I am concerned ( couln’t test ) because those who own the hat keep stats and it secret (even nana hasn’t showed any 20k run on food grade plastic or something , with vs without hat to see how it works tt wise) . But higher succesrate normaly = Higher tt returns = more chances of bp drops. Hence it is more op than non crafters imagines. It is a must have, otherwise you waste your money.

Btw generally diffrence between crafting and hunting: You can buy up or soak up all loot from crafting if you have a slight edge, because you have the lowest prices. You can put the prices where everybody needs to sell at a slight loose and you can sell it for a slight profit hence killing all compentition. That is the big diffrence. And there is no way to catch up unless you get the item. No matter your skill level ect. And this advantage amplifies by the all precrafts you need to do in fishing.

I vote add more. In fact give everyone 100% success rate so buffs make sense again.

Or remove fishing completely

I suggest we make under suggestions / wishlist category on the forums, a new section called “AG Refiner” and put this thread there and also rename this thread to something more appropriate like:

“[AG Refiner] Screw everything up because you screwed my profit potential”

Just an idea…

Since fishing hats are limited supply, if one were to buy all of them - easy fish market monopoly
It’s not even that much to monopolize the whole market, there’s like 9 of them in game ?

Thats a fun idea, but most certainly wont work.

  1. Because some owners will not sell it doesnt matter the price. They just view it as a part of “collection”.
  2. Each time some one is close to monopoly on something, whining on this forum intensifies and MA raises the cap.

Am I just misreading your post, or is the hat affecting crafting too? I thought it was just fishing and cooking success only.

1.1 rate for “Success chance for cooking BPs” (Gastronomy, Nutritionist and Provisioner types)

That’s what I thought. The OP said crafting success rate rather than cooking, so that’s what threw me off.

Cooking is crafting

I guess you did run out of arguments, after I literally destroyed all your false information spreading on your last post. Why can’t you aknowledge the hat is a problem?
Nanas Discord post: " MA decides it doesn’t fit their long term balance plan and changes or removes it? Thats gonna suck, but also many players would have already gotten their value out of the increased success rate." In his case that means the value he has gotten out of it is more 19k ped. You can’t compete with that. As well there is a diffrence from crafting to hunting, (if we ignore the diffrent MU you can get based on bps that drop, wich is as well increased with the hat) . Here a example:

Person A Hat: Crafts item for 80 ped

Person B no Hat : Crafts same item for 85 ped

Person A sells it all day for 84.9 ped → Can profit of the activity
Person B : Can get skills but can never turn a profit.

I can profit low level crafting, hunting and mining. For cooking I literally see no way where I can compete with a crafter with hat in the end.
