Need movie Editing advice

Hello

I need some movie editing advice on what programs to use to best edit the fraps movies I take.. Would like it simple but with enough options to make the movies lower in mega bytes, be able to edit the movies with other movies and some options to add text , credits.

Thanks

Thank you very much will look into this

:cheer:

Which one do you recommend? I see some of them are very expensive

you can also try videohelp.com and see if you find any tools there that fits your needs.
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=17#17

adobe premiere and vegas are recommendable.
But then again, those one cost, so try out the freewares they have linked on that site (dont know if they are any good, but hey its worth a shot)

Well thanks for all you help so far this is what I came up with

My First movie and my first PE movie

Hope you enjoy..

Oh some details the master copy after being fully edited in my new adobe pro was like 855 megabytes so had to condense it some what more to an workable 45 megabytes. Some scenes where lost or made shorter due to this but think that it still an great film .. but you be the judge

PS: MindBuster maybe we can have an movie section? maybe?

Well also check out the links you put in your last post

As said above, use Adobe Premiere first. This works great on mpegs but can be a bit unstable with AVIs

Then VirtualDub (freeware - Google it) is an extremely nice bit of software for chopping up and converting

To convert, you really want to use the XVid Codec (enCODer/DECoder) or the DivX Codec. These are very very compressed avi formats that still keep their quality. If you’ve ever downloaded a film, and it’s a nice quality, full 2 hour length movie, and fits on a CD, then it will be in one of these two formats

Go to www.free-codecs.com and download “Koepis XVid” Codec - it’s the best available - and again, is free

Not bad for your first movie.

…and there is some good advice in here so far.

Hello
Frist thing would like to thank you for you help.. I have done evething that you suggest I do but some of the stuff im not sure of.. Mean I have no idea what they are.

So some questions

“Then VirtualDub (freeware - Google it) is an extremely nice bit of software for chopping up and converting”

I assume this is to make the movie file more compressed but not sure of the chopping up part? does not Adobe Premiere edit (chopping up) or do you mean somthing elese? Also any other info you can give me

I dont know what this is. Did download and install it.
By adding the codex does that make it avaible for the virtualdub to give that option to use? or is this an seperate proccess?

Yeah you can tell my skills with computers is kinda limitted :frowning:

Good thread

Maybe I just am a little N00b on the subject, but how can you take videoshots out of PE? I know how to take screenshots, but that just is one still image.

I have plenty of movie editing experience (made short movies IRL) but haven´t got a clue how to “videoshoot” computer screen.

Advice? Please?

A program called “fraps”. Try searching for it

I like adobe Preimer and all to
but i think i’m just gonna use the Windows Movie Maker that comes with Windows XP it seems to work pretty good with fraps. and it’s free and i’m realy trying to stick to legal software. and i can’t afford Adobe.

I may just use Acid Xpress it’s free for editing sound tracks.
