A RNG generator will use standard distribution, this game’s distribution is I think the term is right tailed.. Ah yes here it is ..
“Loot is therefore heavily right-tailed.” Pg 11.(Please read the more reading document in my signature) This game cannot use RNG as would need a gambling license in order to do so. The devs have also stated that this is a skill based game which is 100% the case. This game also uses behavioral engineering and AI to look at what players are doing. So if you believe it’s random and act like it’s random, it will appear random to you. It’s all in the eye of the beholder.
Try and exploit a vulnerability in the AI, and eventually it will get patched and yes I have done this. Figure out something that makes sense and the AI increases the difficulty.
Right now I am using a pretty basic cartesian based encoder and seeing how the AI reacts to it. The encoder has a critical flaw in it’s design that the data cannot be reversed when encoded. It also has a major characteristic in that the more bits ie the longer the data, the larger the resultant factor.
I was going to call you out and ask for evidence, but I redacted that statement. It is no use arguing about something where an individual’s perception can be influenced and after all it’s just a video game.
How do most player’s mine … well that is simple (+110m, a derivative of 60 degrees). This is obviously the most “efficient” mining style that players would use.. I call this the polar style for obvious reasons.
Or you could create a grid, simply divide your x and y coordinates by the diameter, grab the closest integer and walk diameter meters.. Creating a cartesian grid..
I am writing to myself as I may have been incorrect..
A RND distribution can be right tailed…
Exponential Distribution: This is a right-tailed distribution, where the probability decreases exponentially as the value increases, leading to a long tail on the right.
Poisson Distribution: This can be right-tailed, particularly when the mean rate of occurrence is high. The distribution will have a longer tail on the right as the possible number of events increases.
Log-Normal Distribution : This is a right-tailed distribution, where the tail on the right side is longer due to the skewness introduced by taking the logarithm of a normally distributed variable.
Gamma Distribution (also relevant): This is right-tailed, especially in cases where the shape parameter is small, leading to a pronounced right tail.
I do apologize for my behaviour regarding this matter and ask for your forgiveness.. It looks like I still have a lot to learn..
So of the distributions above, which one is the best match
I have been mining on and off since PE open beta, but there have been major changes since then.
I also understand it from Mindark’s side, balancing this game is not going to be easy especially with all the different things I have thrown at the poor game’s algorithm.
Currently I am taking a little break from mining actively as it appears that my avatar is experiencing a downswing with regards to returns.
Some days I would swear that this game is more like playing the stock market than an MMO.
You might have but your body language sort to speak tells me you play for at most 3 weeks.Any level 30 miner can guide you through the game 200 times better than you already learned in the past 20 years.
Forget all you “know”.Find a good mentor and you will be set free.Chase the markup.
I thought I read that you said this is not RNG. If you get downside, means there is a balance. Else, if all unlocked the code, they would suddenly get constant 200% TT return which is impossible. Hence why it is balanced to what ever MindArk have put as long term ,example 95% TT return. Some may get 99, others 89% but all in all, for all players = 95% (just for example).
That’s exactly what this game is. Mining is about as interesting as flipping burgers. Hence why the biggest cyclers are all bots… There is zero benefit to mining manually.
All the complexity is in the economy. Predicting trends, knowing when to buy and when to sell. Entropia is closer to a market simulator than a videogame.
Agreed, there’s not enough resources in the system to do that. Mindark has to literally use Peter’s PED to pay Paul. But doing that in a fair and balanced way is going to be tricky.
It needs to reward players that come up with unique strategies for “beating the game” but at the same time limiting the effect of those strategies once they have been discovered / overused, be it intentionally or unintentionally.
So the experiment was a complete disaster… However it did reinforce something for me..
I have not played the stock market before, but I am getting a feeling that mining has a lot in common with that, it’s about intuition and gut feelings and working out what the game is doing…
For example, here is one. Getting a massive amount of skill gains and no hits indicates to me that the location that I am mining at is correct, but the pool’s level is too low…
So I have 2 choices, stop mining and wait for others to fill the pool for me, or bite the bullet, accept my ped loss as I channel those Peds into skills…
I picked option 1 and am now not mining, waiting for someone else to fill the pool.
I cannot share the python script that I am using that is helping me right now to get a grip on what I personally think is going on, it’s just a tool that I am using as a basis for all my other findings.
This is the thing as well, I have an impression or an opinion or a bias towards how it works. Perhaps I should see if I can find a mentor, show them how easy it is to find veins ..
Of course, there is veins. Its was designed like that , Entry point exit point random generated path..
But there are multiples mechanisms and exceptions in place to balance gains and losses, so it doesn’t make much of a difference.
Its more for esthetics imo .
