Ever hear of Klip? More specifically… klipfolio? Well, in South Africa a klip is Afrikaans for a stone/rock/pebble (probably in Flemish and Dutch too?)
Anyway… the question is, what is klipfolio, and why use it?
Apparently it’s an RSS dashboard thingie (but more!)… it looks very cool… it floats wherever you tell it to… and it seems lean It can show any kind of RSS feed… weather, news updates, stock quotes… and this is where I want to say… “hold that thought”.
So, does anyone here use it? I’m asking, because I’m thinking of designing a “custom” klip plug-in for MyTwoPecs.com. Since klipfolio is so easy to use… I think it’s worth a shot.
I have something very similar called Google Desktop. It has RSS of EF, BBC News and others. It also checks my email, gives system performance, weather, scratch pad and shows random images from my PE Global/HoF directory
Plus it searches my PC just like Google searches the Internet. 400k files and 45k email across the network.
Any plugin would in any case need to reed a standard format XML feed. Therefore, this feed should just plug into any RSS reader, like the Google toolbar?
I used to have a problem with the concept of live data… on an RSS feed. From all of the examples I studied before… it seemed to be event driven. For example… a new article gets added to the EF homepage… and the RSS News feed gets a new entry… But for Data Feeds… the items get updated… it’s not a new news event. Am I mistaken?
