Kill Stealing Is legal Now

Well I guess complaining to MA about a person kill stealing is now useless. I just got a very late reply back about someone abusing me by stealing mob from me…here is the reply.

2005-04-04 MindArk Support:
The action itself is not illegal, we cannot prevent that other killing prey. The one that does the most damage to a MOB is entitled to the loot, that our rules.
/Regards

So I guess this game is “everyone for themselfs” and “might makes right.”

(sarcasm, start) Gee too bad I didnt know that, I could have bought me a PSG Sniper, put a Dante amp on it and kill stole that Stalker(sarcasm, ending)

How sad…

This have always been legal. If someone does more then 50% dmg on the mob it is legal. Couldnt have it any other way, really.

Offcourse it suck, but nothing else to do but try not to get annoyed from the KS’ers. Just change ground and hunt in peace and quiet

Von-
sry you have been k.s’ed I have too, as well as many of us :frowning:
But alas, it has always been legal, and as Skam pointed out whoever gets more than 50% dmg takes loot.
Is it right morally? Not according to most ppl. But it happens and support cannot help with that.
Sry tho, I empathize

Kill stealing has been a part of MMORPG’s since I can remember.
It sucks but I wouldn’t like it any other way. I personally think EQ2’s locking system for fights (so people cant KS) is annoying.
I hate kill stealing as much as you do but it’s something we have to deal with.. just remember the arseholes name who KS’d you and you can get your revenge later.

was it ever illegal ? :stuck_out_tongue: more a question of ingame ethics i think

Someone KS’d my mob when I was fairly new to the game… I asked them why they did it and the reply was one along the lines of ‘stfu.. tough shit’…

I promptly right clicked on them and added them as friend (this was b4 you had to have permission) and now know when the bugger is online…

Revenge will be mine  :vampire:

But yeah, like was said up a couple… just remember their name and one day you’ll find the sod on Amethera battling an Eomon and you can pop them off and return the favour :tongue2:

It may be legal, but most would agree it’s bad manners

ulti n I have an excellent method of revenge… a quick scan of the persons stats, and off we go to find a mob that’s beyond their ability, get it to follow us, stand next to the KS’er, and die (we dont mind - it’s funny  )

We can then zoom out and watch - funniest is when it’s miles away from a RT

Who says u can only kill an opponent in PvP?

On a different subject (kinda), how much does it annoy you when you do over 50% damage to a mob (like 80%? 90%? 95% even?), die, and hoof it back to the mob to see some moron has turretted it, or even if you miscalculated it and wound up too close to a turret

You did the most damage. Where’s your loot??? Certainly MA / the turret shouldn’t get it, as they did negligible damage

Something to be fixed in the next mini update perhaps?

Nice thought but, I wouldn’t hold my breathe.

Same thing with drowning mobs…noticed this when I was still forced to hunt around PA, prior to this update…they would run off once they were low, and stupid Daikibas and berys would drown themselves…you did the damage, but the water claims the loot…

OR…when you come up to a mob that’s taken like a few hits…you wait for it to regen. (I always wait to see if someone is coming back), Once it’s full or close to full (lots of green), you attack and the loot is STILL claimed by someone else.

I’ve had this happen a few times…majorly annoying.

Definetly not… or else why ever do more than 51% damage to a mob if you can just turret it?

Good point, but…
It just isn’t cool to spend time on a mob and have it die with like 1 hp left via the Turrets instead of being able to get the loot from it.

That’s life.

Zara is right here. It sucks when a turret gets your mob, but you must view it just as you do water. Stay far far away from those turrets and you’re fine. If you are close enough, it’s up to you to run the mob the other way… it’s a challenge, but fun.
otherwise, as Zara said, too many ppl would be exploiting the turrets

Simple solution for both Kill Stealers and turrets:

Loots becomes a %age of the actual loot. If you did 95% damage, you only loot 95% of what the mob would have held. And only the person/team that did the greater damage gets the loot

No big deal to code in either - 1 extra line

I think that would actually encourage “killstealing”. You would always have a swarm of noobs after you who would shoot anything you shoot in hope of getting a piece of your hof or maybe the items in loots.

Any uber would be completely defenceless against parasites who would want a part of loot when some tough mob is concentrating on him.

For us who’s been around for a while we know this is a dead issue. Back in the days you could do 51% dmg on a mob, run straight for a beach/turrent and loot it. It got exploited(ofcourse) so they changed the rules.
Tough shit. Stay away from water/turrents.

About the KS’ers. They suck. But so does life

Killstealing has and will always be legal. Why shouldnt it be? The one who does the most damage wins the loot and thats a good rule.If I see someone I hate I want to have the chance of taking all his/her loots in that area til he/she leaves so I can continue my business

damages doesnt always determines loot..i was skilling corns yesterday.had a couple on me me.anda noob attacks one..i asked him not to do it,cause i didnt need help,im skilling..so..a couple minutes later..he did it agian..attacking a corn that was on my back, sincei was busy fighting off other corns he got the first swing,he used an axe01..i draw my valor and sliced 2 times 60 on the corn..now..he only hit it once..but he hit it first..i definately did more damage..corns health is only 150i belive..but he got to loot it..

That sounds odd fluske.

As for the others, I agree that the way it is is the way it is for a good reason. This has been hashed and rehashed and is the best solution the way it is now.

Such is life.
