Jobs for noobs

I think we have recently had this disscision somewhere else this thread is kind of .

I have recently taken on a diciple and I was not prepared to simply give him free money or weapons. So eventualy after he had done hours of sweating bought his first gun and lost his first ped’s of ammo he was looking for an alterante source of income that spending more hours sweating.

So I came us with the idea of useing him as a kind of go bettwen trader (kinda reseller but no totaly) bascily depending on the what was happeing on that that day I would give him X amount of ped and he would do what ever trading and we would split the profit. This allowed him to earn a little money for hunting and getting some exsperiance of tradeing.

I have found him to the very trustworthy and dose anyone else do this with there diciples or other new players and what they think of this methord

i never had a mentor, and dont have any disciples (not high enough) so i cant talk from experience but…
sounds like a good system. most of the mentors whove described their ways of mentorship gave weapons/tools to disciples, and improved the level of weapon/tool as the disciples level increased.
i think your system is better, though… lets get real, a noob doesnt learn much by being given a load of free shit, does he?

Unfortunatly I was way to generous with my first disciple. I loaned him my set of axes(11) to use to skill with. So two weeks later he has not been on and I am pretty much SOL. Deffinatly will be more cautious with the next disciple.

Perhaps something along the lines of this trading idea sounds good.

…did you just say you gave him ELEVEN axes? lol… why, was he an octopus?
do something useful with them, like hang them over your doorframe, mr.prosser…

Agree…8 fully repaired axes would cover it…why 11.. …?

Maybe u should have started to give him 1 then told him when he got all tp’s he ll get another 1..ect …ect…just a suggestion..

Well as long s u have fun i guess..hope you ll get back at least 10..

I’ve picked up a couple of new diciples here the last couple of days.

Normally, I’d make the new diciple show me 90 PED of net worth before I’d mentor. My reasoning behind this was to avoid wasting my time on them if they did not have the means to deposit. Since sweating will never earn enough to graduate the diciple.

But, I have recently revised my thinking that some of those “sweaters” might eventually deposit and what is a Jester or a Mann MPH or a mostly worn out axe anyway. So I loose a few ped on each diciple. Let them sweat for ammo or repair. If I provide enough education for them to get through some of the tougher parts of playing the demo mode of this game, perhaps they will deposit some in the future. One might even get lucky and HOF on a snablesnot.

My only fear of doing that is that some people might try to create new avatars and just say they need a mentor to get a free item. Then to only kick me as a mentor and try again with somebody else for a new free item.

I haven’t been kicked yet. But, if it starts then I’ll have to quit giving. Even though it’s only a few ped, it’s the principal of it all.

oh really? i didnt deposit, started sweating… did that until i had 1 ped… bought an ax for tt with the promise id pay him back with interest ( i did, 2 days later, 1000% of the tt price  )…and now, 7 days later, have 200 ped in cash and 100 in tt on my equip… which means that i have over 3x the amount that one of your little deposit buddies have, and theyll probably be running around for a week trying to figure out what to DO with the money so spontaneously generated.
but im done ranting now… lol…
dont look for the rich kids with pocketbooks dude… look for the ones who dont even feel they need a mentor (i didnt) and convince them to LET YOU mentor them

I use about 30 axes in on skillin hunt, I seem to get better loot from longer trips, main reason is when used less axes I’d be tempted to give up skilling and start hunting again

edit sorry this was an absolutely unintentional entry; since the page didnt load right and i didnt see my previous post, i didnt think it had taken, and retyped the whole thing. ill see if i can think of anything useful to put here.

edit something to put here… i can mentor now!! yaaaayyy!!! :beerchug::beerchug::beerchug:

I´ve stopped taking on disciples since everyone of them has quit the game or left me.. I belive the only way to keep a disciple is to “spoil” them.. Alot of mentors out there can afford to support their disciples and so I think alot of new people tend to quit on you once they find out that other mentors will support them alot more.. OR they will quit the game because they think its to hard and unrewarding.. So I dont even try to take on disciples any longer..

I have never had a disciple and never will have one, didnt even consider it when people exploited and made dummy accounts to paint boxes to get RockJacker ME,ML-35ME and Mk.5 ME

Free tools

When I stared the game I had no planes to deposit money in it…but after I got a Mentor that gave me weopen. I thinked that it was worth investing some money.

i know what you mean by the time i met some one generouse that gave me stuff without me asking i already had a mentor, but since i met my now good friend ballistic i have been addicted to PE and am now depositing and spenting most of my spare time playing, but if u give a desciple too many items the dont become as independant and could become a scammer.

It helps a lot to have a society that your diciples can be part of. This way they meet new friends and can team together with each other and with their mentor. I always take my diciples team skilling whenever they want to go when I have the time to do it. It helps keep them on track for killing the proper sized mobs and all sorts of new and useful info. We also try to communicate missions and status and other tips over the society chat so that others that aren’t yet participating in that exercise can possibly learn something new as well. And so they know what to expect for them later.

I do give them a rifle, pistol, or axe once they get the camp pheonix teleport. I encourage them to sweat for ammo or repairs. I try to keep them on the path to gaining skills. A few have deposited, and my job gets slightly more difficult at that point. Because they want to go buy all the shiny things in the game that don’t help them in their skilling or their ped card. I let them do as they wish, but I advise them about the purchases. Mission number one for my diciples is for them to have fun doing whatever they are doing. Second is making and keeping friends. Third is reducing the PED loss as much as possible. Forth is skilling up.

I have only lost one diciple so far. I am sure, that the Jester D1 she got away with is worth only a PED or so… How much will be lost over the course of play as a loner I couldn’t even fathom to guess. I know how much I have lost because I didn’t take on a mentor. I’d hazard a guess of about 1000 PED.

I’d say, a mentor is the most valuable asset you can get in PE as a new player.

possibly… but keep in mind that that ability changes with the type of society… if a cK, white tiger, or an amethera demon takes on a disciple, its not like theyll ever wind up in that soc… youd have to actually make a living out of mentoring and put all your time into a n00b soc and your disciples in order to do the best that could be done, which is something very few people do…

He’s just stating that if you are new player, having a mentor to guide you along the game will better prepare you to play the game. No need to bash on his reply, he’s just simply making an observation.

Anyways, you’re the moron who gav 12 axes to someone…
While Tantrum’s method is the most efficient way to help new players… be generous and give them just 1 weapon and have them work for the rest or else you’ll have a free loader who keeps asking for things everytime.

Guys, the Mentor, by definition is a guy who gives you advice, teaches you your way in the game. He doesn’t have to do charity, and he doesn’t have to feel bad for not giving free stuff.
Let’s get real: how much do I earn for being a mentor? A friend of mine got 2Candle ME from his disciples… And me? I had like 5 disciples until now and none of them reached 50%… In the end I kicked them. The bigest problem of PE is ppl quittin’ So, how can I keep a noob online when Uber players quit on a daily basis?
These being said, I love being a mentor, and I often forget about my fun time, and instead of that I go on tp search with my disciples, or I spend hours teaching them stuff they need to know. But what good is that, when in the end they only ask: do you have something free? And if I give them something free, what good is it? I mean, for a disciple to finish on LB skill for example it takes about 24hunts with 12 full tt axes 1x0(try to calculate that). And that’s for sure! What good is a free mann mph? The real value of a mentor is his teachings!
And if u’re a noob, don’t deposit! Sweat for a month, and don’t turn urself into a beggar! PE citisens are fed up with that! After that, if u really like the game deposit whatever u think it’s ok with your RL pocket. And most important, LISTEN TO WHAT UR MENTOR TEACHES U!!!

very well sed i agree with alot of that, alot of ppl only mentor for the ME item which is pointless and unfair as then the noob doesnt learn thigs the way they should, there are two sides of looking at it tho is it worth all the trouble helping a newb that might quit halfway through their discipleship or taking that risk again but suceeding and knowing u hav made a good player which effectively makes calypso a better place a PE more fun for every 1. please tell me if that made sense lol.

Heya,

I dont agree with some1 of You, I didn’t deposit and I’m playing 1 year
I had lots of globals, hofs, lots of friends and i finished mentoring in first aid ( got frean alpha ME  ) and you tell me that disciple must deposit, its not true he can if he WANT TO, u can’t say what he must do, or he ll be angry on you, and it ll be just longer to talking with him. I give my disciple 1 axe and he go skill, he dont like PE than he quit, he like it, than he deposit or earning money how? ist simple : Reselling, sweating, helping other ppl to find someone, finding some buyers on some things, or just helping you to sell something. I know what I’m talking i gained my first 500 ped in trading, than gived on skilling and now i have other job its fapping ( healthing ppl while they hunting )I get money and some skills.
