Is it illegal?

I know its not ‘right’ to have a second avatar… but is it against MA’s conditions?
I have looked and I cant see any thing against it.

Im not looking to make another, im just wondering after all the talk about how to ban them.

MA support will tell you it’s against the EULA, but reading the EULA through, i can’t find it mentioned either
better not to take any chances though, eh?

Well, hard to see it with a quick glance. I see only these points,
bold text is original Legalese, italics is for plain Redneckish!

1: "13+ yrs, then parent must fill in the personal info
18+ yrs, you fill it yourself and are legally responsible what you do in PE.

2: Original text: “Upon completing the registration process, you
will receive a password and account that is uniquely associated with your participation.”

This could be read as:
[ul]
[li]“with a given 18+ yrs personal info, you could have only one account.” [/li][li] “for one account there is only one 18+ person”[/li][li] “for one account there is only one pair of login name and password”[/li][/ul]

Maybe the Board of MA got some technosketches and misunderstood them
and decided upon a too tight policy of one-account-per-person? Happens
often in IT circles. One-account-per-person is not usual restriction
in MMORPSs, but could be handy when withdrawals are also possible.

4: License

This is interesting: “If your PC gets mugged and what ever results from
that, it is all your fault
”. Serves right. MA cannot take care of my PC, OK.

5: Termination: “If world ends, there are not even wounds left to
be licked, really!
”. And that is the way it is. It really refers to a major
catastrophy, e.g. Sweden turning to a muslim terrorist state, and bidding
war against U.S., whence U.S. promptly nukes Goteborg.

6. Ownership and Transactions: “MA owns everything in the game,
you may withdraw PEDs, though, unless your PEDs are made by breaking
the rules
”.

11. No Assignment: “You cannot sell your account?” or, “if you sell it,
the next owner is bound by this agreement too
?”. I guess the fst one.

14, 15: “You are responsible, even if you gave your car to your buddy”.
Quite OK and common sense in many countries. Also: If you hijack
an airplane with this toothbrush, you go to jail, not us"
Again, common
sense.

17:
“Changes in this EULA will be sent to your email address. You better
sure it stays operational, so check every 2 months your hotmail address.
And write it down somewhere
.”

so while we’re on the subject of whats legal and not

i know auto-clicking applications are illegal

what about an autoclicking turbo mouse/control pad?

OMG, not again !

Search around, you’ll find plenty of reading to do about this subject.

Regarding multiple accounts:

Case 43638 History
2005-06-06 <edit: removed>

Hi. I am considering to make another avatar to handle my land area like others do with pilots etc but I heared this might violate the EULA. Is this true?
2005-06-07 MindArk Support:
Yes that is true, we only allow one account/person.

Regarding autoclickers: what cacail said

Keep discussing it and the thread will end with a :locked: icon if I know MB

If Autoclickers are illegal then why are so many ppl (particularly crafters)getting away with it?

Because its so hard to track it…

I suffer from RSI quite a lot - I spend 8-9 hours a day at work on a PC, and then to come home and spend another 5-8 hours an evening playing pc puts quite a bit of strain on my body. I certainly have considered using an autoclicker… especially when skilling on Argos with one of the new TT shortblades… it takes a good 50+ clicks for me to kill one, and my arm/wrist etc gets very sore. Another thing to consider with 2nd avatars, is that sometimes we might not have more than 1, but what if a good irl friend cuts down their playing considerably, and asks you to just log in for them every now and again to make sure the account does not get locked while they’re away ???

While both autoclickers and multiple avatars are illegal, I know many people who have/use both. I imagine the policy is more of a technicality, so that if you abuse either one, MA can can you without being questioned on it.

If you do it, don’t abuse it or flaunty. Kind of like homosexuality in the army.

But officially from me… uh… don’t do it
