When I first logged on this afternoon I noticed that all of my items, gun, ammo, armor, loot items, etc and about 50 PED were all gone. I was only left with 0.95 PED and my clothes. I have sent a message to support. I was just wondering if this is a frequent occurrence, if there is anything else I can do about, and will this happen again if I put more money into the game. I did not give my info out to anyone, so I was a little baffled to see this. I guess I got hacked. Any info and advice would be much appreciated.
Do you have any virus software of firewall software installed?
Do you have Broadband or dial up?
If broadband, do you have a firewall on your router?
I would also suggest using Microsoft Spyware detector and try a few others. There are some good ones out there, but the MS is the only one i can think of at this moment that is any good.
Have you downloaded any files recently relating to PE, such as files, maps, etc etc?
It’s very likely you have a keylogger installed on your machine so I would seriously get this looked at and try and resolve it before anything else happens.
Do a search for Carebear’s posts, as they did post about some software they used to remove some keyloggers on there machine.
I hope you get it sorted.
Oh, and if you have been hacked, MA won’t help you out as it’s down to you to make sure your PC is secure in anything you do.
They will advise you to purchase a gold card and tell you " That they can on compensate for your lose" Standard Hack support answer to less (influencial{rich}) Entropians.

First of all, sorry to hear about your loss. Did you happen to accept anything any PE players sent to you? Files? Attachments to mails? Did you download anything advertising a hof prediction, Ruga spots, etc?
If so, you’re fucked. MA won’t do a thing, really. And frankly? I am not sure they should. If you give random people the keys to your apartment, and come home to find it empty, I doubt any insurance company would compensate you either.
Is that harsh? Maybe. But it’s not as if there’s not been enough warnings online against this kind of crap.
Personally I do hope MA will go after people who do that stuff, and publish their IPs. Preferably right after they hand them over to the cops. I have a few old tricks up my sleeve that I’d love to use on that kind of people. And trust me. They’d wish the cops arrested them G
I think if someone Hijacked you’re account it might be resolvable, because you were left with no peds and you’re armor, gun ect is missing if someone traded you’re “stuff” MA could see who it was given too, if it was dropped somewhere they might be able to see were it was dropped and which avatar picked it up, and if someone transferred the cash into a rl account they will be able to see who did it and you can cancel the deposit before it goes through seeing as it takes age’s.

Personally I really hate those lowlives who spend hours trying to get someones login and pass to transfer all their stuff and money to their account. Can only hope that next time they’ll try it their computerhardware makes a little mistake, causes a fire which will burn down their houses and everything the have dear. :cussing: :mad: :cussing:
Thanks for the info. I do have firewall, antispyware etc protecting my computer. I ran my scan and come to find out I did have a keylogger on my system. I did visit a website yesterday regarding PE called so that must be where I got it from. So beware players, don’t visit this site. I guess I learned the hard way but luckily I’m a newbie and didn’t lose a whole lot. Just frustrating I guess. Ah, life in virtual reality. I guess its more like reality then we think sometimes, especially when it involves real money. Oh, and congrats to ViagraFalls on your new found love! Thanks again everyone.
I can remember earlier somebody advertising that site (PEGUIDES.BRAVEHOST.COM) at Twin Peaks earlier, and i am now kicking myself because i cant remember the avatar’s name :mad: Did anyone else get their name? It would have been about 10:30 in game time at the Twin. Wonder if that is actully where it came from, to scared to visit it lol.

Yes it appears so, clicking any of the links on the page redirects you to a dwnload. It is the same virus as the other thread earlyer afik. Be aweare that NAV propably doesent detect it. Use AVG Antivirus, www.grisoft.com .

yea just http://free.grisoft.com will get you to the free copy faster as they’ve made it a litle tricky from the main page.
I guess I need to get a new password for PE before putting any more money into the game. Do I have to send a message to support to get a new password or is there another way?
