I have a few Noob quesions. please help out!

Hi

I just started the game last week and i must say, i am already hooked. Ive been sweating for most of the time and managed to purchase enblade2 for 8 peds, which i think is a pretty good deal. here are a few questions i have and i hope those of you who have been playing for a while can help me out

  • which armour should i go with if i want to go out hunting using enblade2. Cost and durability are the main concerns but its effectiveness is also important.

  • which mobs should i be attacking to get the most loot and experience out of them. Like i said before, Im using enblade2, have no armour yet and am at level44 with longblade.

  • what does it mean when it is stated that something is +140% or anyother percentage. For example ive seen sweat being 130% or something like that. is it similar to saying TT+5?

  • i would like to try out mining sometime. what are the essentials which i should purchase. dont forget that i am a noob and the ped’s are low.

Thanks and hope that isnt too many questions

1, sorry to say, but if effectiveness matter to you, ditch the enblade 2 as fast as possible. it have really bad economy, and you would be far better off with the sword from the trade terminal, or a rep edge 1x0 axe. As for armor, try and get a cheap set of pixie (and remember! armor only protects best when fully repaired, so keep it in good condition).

2, for mobs, go for creatures you can kill in less than 10 attacks, fx exarosaurs, snables and sabukamas.

3, when trading stackable items it is often better to buy and sell for a % of the items tt value. if you buy 100 ped of materials for 130%, you pay 130 ped. if you buy 50 ped of materials for same price you pay 65 ped.

4, for mining tools, look in the tt. you need a detector, a drill and bombs or probes depending on the gear you have bought. all in all costs about 10-50 ped depending on how many bombs and probes you buy.

awsome…thanks for the quick reply.

i found the enblade2 to be pretty good actually, maybe im wrong. which sword is available in the TT?

what is a desent price for a full pixie armor…dont want to get ripped off

Well your basic noob armor is either pixie or goblin. Both offer decent low level protection at rally affordable rates. If you’re not planning on toying with snabbles much then definately go with the pixie. It’s cheaper and more durable. If snabbles are your main choice then I’d go for the goblin as it offers acid protection.
Any of the small cute, and/or cuddly mobs are your primary targets. Snabblesnots, exosaurs, daikibas, and snarksnots.
In a sense % are like the tt+ numbers. Things are are generally sold as a single unit (armor pieces, weapons etc.) are sold as tt+ numbers where things sold in bulk (like ores and enmatter) are simply sold at a % so you get a small tt+ but it’d be a major hassle to calculate lysterium at tt+ .05 for 247 ingots).
For mining you’ll need the ore finder of choice (enmatter or ore), an extractor, and bombs/probes. Most people suggest probes to start with as they are cheaper than bombs for mining.

thanks for the reply Cat. really helped with the explanation of % and TT pricing

I am not sure, correct me if I am wrong, but since the last VU the tt of the armor doesnt matter anymore when absorbing damage.

dont recall which sword is good from the tt, but if you want a good melee weapon, get the 1x0 axe, it is cheaper to use and does more damage than the enblade 2.
For pixie, dont pay more than tt+10 or 12 for a full set. You can also check www.peauction.com for info on prices.
Oh, and welcome to PE and EF

Limited armor updates
Limited armor and armor attachments have full protection levels until they are unusable.

Rascal is the top quality option for you if you can afford it, then Goblin, and Pixie to finish, my opinion

As with the axe option  IMO the sword from the TT offers skill bonuses but does not do as much damage as the axe or have the same hits per minute, I use the axe now as it was the most efficient wepon to start with as a newb but there was a bug with it according to MA of doing electrical damage and that was also removed a few VU’s ago, the new skill system changes have made the TTitems great for begginner as they have an extremely high durability(exluding the en-blades) and offer extra skill bonuses, which you would not get from the axe-1 or jester-d1.

I would suggest using these untill you stop getting skill bonuses and your skill is 10/10 for the weapon and then move on to the next weapon ie axe-1 or jester-d1. I am at about 1200 longblade now(I think) and use the axe-1 as I no longer get skills with the sword. I still use the opalo and will untill I stop getting aim skill, (I am almost there) then I am going back to my old jester  as it offers a higer rate of fire, and with my newly aqquired skills I will be better suited to use these weapons.

p.s my axe damage ability is still only 0.8/10 so in theory I am still not effectivly suited to this but its the best thing available

amor

For all n00bs who don’t have much money and are looking for armor: I recommend to hunt at Billy’s Spaceship. You can get a lot of Pixie and Goblin parts there. In 10 or 30 min you are very likely to loot something usefull like Pixie arsm, thighs, gloves and so on. And of course you can trade amor parts of the “wrong” gender" for the ones you need.

:girl:

Marty if u need a full set of Pixie armor (Male only) ill be happy to sell you 1 you can find me in twin peaks or zychion citadel PM me if you cant go to either but want to buy

where would billys spaceship be located plz?

pixie isn’t limited armor…

Billy’s Spaceship Afterwold

Billy’s Spaceship is NE of Port Atlantis. It’s usually one of the first tps on Eudoria you will propably get.
You can also search google for “Eudoria”+“map” to get help. The Eudoria map is really very helpfull when you want to collect tps.

Hi,

I’d consider using no armor at all, but buying a FAP-5 healing device (TT) instead …
These little critters (snables, daikis, exos …) do very low damage, and IMHO the skilling of healing powers using the dirt cheap FAP-5 (meaning costs to repair) makes far more sense then repairing your Pixie over and over.

As for weapons: I’d recommend the two Enblades from TT (long and short), an Sollomate Opalo rifle (TT) and an axe 1x0 (or more, buying from player).

Since you have no armor this way, you don’t want to get surrounded - so use the opalo to tag and aggro your target. It will most often start running towards you, and if you have wisely choosen your point of attack, you’ll be there alone with it.

Now choose the weapon to use:

  • the axe makes by far the most damage, so use it for stronger/ mature/ old beasts.
  • The sword makes decent damage and has a skill bonus, so use it most of the time.
  • The knife ist fastest, but makes least damage and has skill bonus, so use it on weak mobs or as finisher.

Try to kill with as few swings as possible - every attack costs PEC’s! It makes no sense to finish a mob that has about 5 hitpoints with the axe …

So critter’s dead, pray to Lootius, see if your prayer was heard, curse him and find your next mob. If your hitpoints are too low, FAP you before - but not too much, PEC’s, you know …

This is what I can provide as advice, and be told, it’s advice from a nOOb. But this nOOb is hunting exactly this way (OK, I have 2 axes now). And I can easiely kill Cornundacauda Mature without any armor. One time even an Atrox Young fell without me falling first ;-)))

Another word: Prepare to deposit major PED’s - hunting seems to be an expensive hobby! Even if I go out killing snables using my knife (which should be rather economic, and they’re falling like flies from Atrox oral odor) and Lootius is sleeping (so they drop for me  ), I come home with, let’s say 10 PED’s worth just to repair my weapons for 20 PED’s …

Hope I could help - Have fun!

PS: As I may have mentioned, I’m the uber nOOb - feel free to correct me!

I must say I disagree with Xandra. I’m not dure what a Fap 5 costs at tt - 30 ped, or so? And it’s far too weak to help you with many kind of mobs. Consider: for tgis money you could easily buy a Pixie or Goblin. And from Exosaurus you will sooner or later loot a much better Fap anyway.
A Berycled Mature or Old or whatever can get you into serious trouble, especially when other mobs like Snablesnot Male Old are maybe also attacking you. Then you will not be able to fap yourself fast enough I CAN TELL YOU! :girl:
So the repair costs for you amor will only be a few pecs and with a Goblin amor Berycleds and Snablesnots will usually cause only 1 point damage!!! Pixie does not protect from SnableSnots.
Blablablablabla … I recommend Goblin amor. Faps are expensive. You will loot one soon!!! :wise:
Of course you don’t need amor always. Yes you can hunt Corundacauda without amor. Everybody can, but when a second or third Corn sees you…
Another good hunting ground is NW of Fort Argus at the mountain: Exosaurus, SnableSnots and SnarkSnots

Or does the Fap 5 cost 15 peds???
Anyway…too expensive !

Rosinenbomber…yes, fap5 is 15 peds.

so how much is a reasonable price for a full m goblin suit thats in perfect condition

To be perfectly honest : I have no idea. I think in “my younger days” aGoblin was around 20-30 PED (?)
But I think Goblin and Pixie are a bit more expensive now, because so many people just start playing.
Sorry I really can’t tell you

Hi Rosinenbomber,

and I disagree with you ;-))))

a fresh FAP-5 is 15 PED - slightly more then the TT of full Pixie (100%) and much less then goblin … So, in the wilds, it’s cheaper - and you can buy a freshly dropped one, often for a very good price.

Maintenace costs of a FAP-5 can be ignored, compared to the costs of ammo/ decay of weapons - FAP-5 is, according to the FAP-FAQ here, one of the most economical FAP’s (beaten only by mod, imp & adj).

I’d not recommend to use it in fight, surely, but hadn’t I mentioned to FAP you after the kill? I proposed newbie hunting without armor, as I remember, and there’s one rule: If it kills you before you can kill it, it’s too large - try one size smaller

Well, I looted a FAP-10 yet. Nice - but much to expensive to use … My next FAP will be a FAP-50, and I’ve yet to find a mob carrying one for me; and then perhaps somtimes a bigger FAP as emergency/ infight FAP. But then, I’ll have Rascal or better, too.

And I don’t understand why I should need some armor at all for hunting snables? Biggest one I killed was male dominant and it’s no challenge with an 1x0, even without armor or FAPping? Maybe it’s the hunting style - I tend to be very careful, pull one mob at a time, finish it, rinse, repeat … I seldom get surrounded and when, hell, I die. Makes me even stronger ;-)) Not in vain my nick is “MadMaiden” ;-)))

Hope I could clarify my statements. Have Fun!

PS: I was talking of mature Corundacauda - surely any half ways competent person can kill these with an axe; I wonderd if there are youngs too, and when, where? I wandered miles after miles for them, but never found :frowning:

Addendum:

Just had my first non deficient hunt - 2 hours killing small mobs like mostly snables, daiki’s and exos up to old with my Enblade pocket knife yielded a surplus of 1.69 PED! Hurray!!!

Within this time of non-armored hunting I was charged 0.64 PED for healing using my trusty FAP-5 and looted half an pixie (M) :frowning:

So my conclusion is: Buy FAP-5, and loot your armor, that you’ll need sometimes in the future ;-)) Don’t forget, you’ll get plenty of healing skills using it frequently and its, beneath the uber thingies, the most economical FAP!

Have fun!
