Hunting after the noob-weeks :-)

Hi,

how the topic says, i’m wondering where and what to hunt? I’m playing for about three weeks now with a Rascal, the standard TT-Rifle (only for pulling) and 5 Axes 1x0. I’m hunted all kinds of Snable, Berycled, Daikibas, Cornundos and so on. My Longswordskill is now about 2200 and the other combat-skills are equivalent. I thought it would be nice to hunt a bit higher mobs, but which and where?
I also thought buying a shogun armor maybe and a katsuichi honor would be nice.

Has anybody tips and hints, what to hunt after the noob weeks  Or which equipment would be good?

Greets and thx

hunt molisk
their teeth pay very good, and you will be doing the tailors in the game a favor by getting some. Also, if you get lucky you may loot a shogun harness and a pair of shins

young have 160HP and do max 31 dmg with no armor. rascal will offer perfect protection against their attacks.
you can find loads of them south of Fort Medusa - happy hunting!

mmm
i’d say Cornundacauda and Feffoids (Outcast first … then you’ll see for yourself for Hunter, Bandit etc). You can try Argonaut too … Umbranoids … But maybe you should upgrade your gun for all that (Justifier MK2 is a good one to me).

Plz don’t mind at me, but the quoted idea is wrong as a fundament. I said it before, ppl in PE are proud and sometimes that gives very wrong ideas to newbies.
Why in the first place would you like to hunt higher mobs? I mean, of course, you can say “for fun”.
Point is, you gotta choose very carefuly your aim in PE: is either fun either efficiency. Of course, these two notions are not at all exclusive on from another, but in large percents.
Dute to the fact that we don’t know how the loot system works (not that we will ever know), to be efficient means aim for the skills.
Make a simple experiment. Buy your katsuchi honor (it has some prohibitive prices these days, btw), and try some booooring thingie. Hunt a mob which u are kinda safe from. Say, cornundacaudas. Now, kill let’s say 5 mobs with axe 1x0 and five mobs with katsuchi honor. Take not of each hit as follows: note tt value of weapon, hit, note damage (missed hits not included, they don’t decay ur weapon anymore), note again tt value of weapon, and so on.
After the ten mobs killed, step back and watch ur results: how much tt value u spent from ur weapons and how much damage u inflicted? make that mathematics for both axe and honor. The result should look like: honor: tt value spent: x peds, total damage inflicted: xxxx. axe: idem. Now, make a divide, damage inflicted/peds spent both for axe and for honor. I already can bet my monthly salary that the fraction will have higher value for axe 1x0. The difference can look like 1 ped only, which means each 5 mobs will be more expansive to kill with 1 ped. Or the difference can be bigger;) - to be more clear: if the honor has a maximum damage capability of, let’s say, 50 dmg, and ur average dmg with it is 30, that means, at each hit, u throw in the wind 40% of the decay spent - which looks very inefficient imo.
Tho, a question remains. When is, still, economic-wise to change from axe 1x0 to honor? The best way to find out is this kind of experiment, for me it was ok once i unlocked martial arts, but each of us is an unique combo of skills, so i don’t believe in general recipes.

All what i said has absolutely no relevance if is ok to u to spend monthly 300$ or so in PE and have a blast slicing everything around, but do not dare to post after 2-3 month here that “OMG, this game is SO expansive”, as I did:D.

On the flipside, of course, if u start hunting atroxes is not at all wise to use axe 1x0, u need fast and large damage. But that fast and large damage must be efficiently inflicted.

Same idea goes for rifles/carbines. One should hunt with opalo, under my opinion, 3 month or so before upgrading to mk 2.

regards and cheers,

K

P.S.: and what exactly made u think that ur “newbie weeks” came to an end?

Thanks, for this first really good answers.

I tried to hunt Mosilisk or Cornundacauda’s. But they need much hits, so that after 6 or 7 of them one axe is decayed. And most time they gave not half the money for repairing, so i thought they are not so economic. And Feffoids or young Artrax most time kill me, just before i can finish them

@Kerham: Your ideas are really good. The bigger sword i just want for bigger mobs, for the small ones i hunted the last weeks it’s surely oversized. My aim in PE is at the moment to become a good hunter, and i thought my skill is good enough to make the next step in killing bigger mobs. But i know there is still much too learn for me, so i’m open for every idea!

P.S: With newbie-weeks I just meant the time, in that i have absolutely no plan of anything  And I hope that is over

well, for becoming a good hunter, there are 2 must:

 1. health points.

 2. skills with your main weapon.

 3. HP is bulit faster by melee fighting. For that i recommend argonauts, with axes 1x0 and rascal armour. Is up to u to decide what level of hp is ok for u.

 4. that is simple. take a weapon in same class, say tt handgun or tt rifle or axe 1x0 and skill, skill, skill. that means, as an example, shooting thousands of snablesnots/daikibas etc with Opalo. Until when? Until your skill gains look like 1 skill gain at 4-5 mobs killed. At that stage u can go higher.

When u see a hunter who seems to do a good job, if u see a hunter marvelously killing an atrox dominant, ask him how he skilled up and how much time he spent with skilling.

About the mobs. You have to hunt mobs which u can kill quickly. There is no point in sweating ur finger and spending ur weapon trying to kill an atrox provider which might be a non looter. With same effort and peds spent u could have killed let’s say 30 snables or more. What that means? 30 chances for a good loot versus 1 chance for a good loot.

Bottom of the line, is a very good idea to have a back-up weapon, u never know when an atrox would come on ur back while u hunt small fry for skilling.

About armors. That is a tricky subject. Adjust ur choice for what u hunt. If u hunt small mobs, pixie or goblin or no armour at all should be ok. For larger mobs, sincerely I don’t know. The road would look like rascal for the begining. There are discussions of what armour is the best, etc. Again, if u can afford, buy that armour u think would be nice (shogun let’s say), hunt same mobs with both armours and see which one pleases u more as decay and protection.

Not the last, the fap. Here is simple. Use a fap-5 for skilling until like 70% of ur attempts are at max heal, than switch to fap-50. After that ek-2600. After that, adj/imp/mod fap if u find:) All those named faps, use them in fight. If there is no mob attacking u, still use fap-5 to heal, it has the best cost around.

Not the last, while doing all these, have fun!

Hope I helped:)

regards and cheers,

K

buy ranged weapon and hunt some argos

No, that’s the only thing i don’t want at the moment  I like it to run around in a scifi-world with an futuristic armor and fight with an old sword. That’s wonderfull paradoxical  Maybe later i’ll try ranged weapons.

And thanks again to Kerham. Your Tips help a lot. I’ll think I stay with the Rascal for the moment and buy an Kat.Honor as an emergency weapon. And then I’ll search these Argonauts, I’ve never seen them. But this will help to get a bit variety in my hunting-evenings.

If anybody else has some good ideas, feel free to post!

Yeah, I would give a definition both to “newbie” and “uber”. Both terms
are relative, people have different defintions. But I have found certain
convergence to the following:
[li]newbie, played less than 1000 hours[/li][li]uber, has more than 100k skills[/li]
Between them is an odd grey area of “middle-level players”, the category i belong to. 1000 h you can cumulate by playing 20h / week for one year.
100k of skills you can cumulate by buying the skills or by skilling like in hell, for some 1.5 years. Probably you woyuld have 132 hp then…

Uhh, I wonder why I posted this? Ahh, yes, it was this noob-weeks, in fact it is noob-months or noob-year. Hunt with tt guns (opalo or
jester-d1), and axe-1x0 longer than you would expect (maybe till you
have some 2k in the respective profession) and then start considering
to hunt bigger and with bígger guns. This assuming you want to avoid
great ped losses in skilling.

argonauts can be found easily north and northwest from twin peaks or south from hadsheim outpost tp.
