Resellers are really starting to annoy me in this game. I feel that they ruin the economy and make everything more expensive than it should be. I am starting to get sick of the number of times that I bid on an item on the auction that I want (or even worse need), and then some filthy, stinking, beadey eyed reseller smells a couple peds profit and starts to bid on the item until they finally bid more than I feel the item is worth so they win it, and then 10 seconds later it is back on the auction on buyout for a bit more than what they just bought it for. It makes me mad because they do not even need or want the item and so they deprive me and many other people of the items they require and otherwise just infate the value of items to more than they are worth just for the sake of a couple lousey peds. What makes it worse is that sometimes some of these people will then send me a PM asking me if I want to buy the item in question :cussing: To top it all off, many resellers are quite dishonest and will lie to noobs about how valueable a crappy item is just to try and rip the poor guy off. Ok, there are a few good resellers who offer a nice service e.g. buying from miners so they can sell their ore fast at a slightly less than market value, to save time, and then keeping crafters supplied, and they take a small cut and offer a useful service by doing this, but the rest of themā¦
Well, I have to restrain myself from telling them what I think of them, but I think that āfilthy, stinking, beadey eyed resellerā does it reasonably good justice actually.
But that is not why I am posting this thread. I am posting this because I had an idea that could prevent this type of thievery from going on and put an end to resellers.
First of all, I think that once an item sells on the auction, it should not be able to be dropped or placed in a trade window for 6 months after it is bought. This is not as bad as it sounds!!! if you buy ore then why would you want to sell it again? (unless u are a reseller!) if you buy a gun, you are going to be using it for the long run so u need to choose your gun wisely! the none dropping would stop it being transfered to another avatar to get around this. Why else would u want to drop an item? (appart from houses which could be a problem) well, if they put it back in the auction within these 6 months, they must then pay 10% of the value that it last sold for, or 10 peds, whichever is the most, and then if the item sells they get that money back! if it doesnt sell then they lose the money.
What do u think about this? With regard to the dropping items, they could make it so that you can drop the item but only in one of your properties, and then only you can pick it up, and while this item is in the property you cannot ārestrictā the property, therefor you cannot trade the deed until you remove this item. Can you think of any examples of why this would be bad? Anyone got any ideas for how this idea could be improved?
6 months seems a bit harsh but some shorter period might actually work.
And yes, resellers dragging prices up with multiple avatars is a bad, bad thing for economy & players.
what can be done against such kind of resellers? well people simply dont sell your stuff at auction. sell and buy on streets. yes it costs a lot of patience but you may see if a buyer/seller is serious or reseller.

Possibly the dumbest idea Iāve ever heard in my entire life as an Entropian. I do agree with you, SIBUK, yes resellers can blow my ass. I hate them. Especially Kofi. But Kofi isnāt as nearly as bad as Wind was, stealing from noobs. Anyways.. Hereās my idea.
Most of the items that resellers are reselling are the highend stuff, take Rayner, Porn Star, Kofi, and so forth. Some of these high-end items are so rare, that if a reseller got his/her greasy hands on said item, and it was uber, then eventually someone would HAVE to pay the price he/she wanted. That said, MA needs to refresh the market with goods.
99% of all the mod faps in the game are from pre-gold, same with imp and adj. Forcing people who are crazy enough to deposit $5000-$10k (yes they are incredibly stupid. Apparently you were never taught that you should spend your money wisely). Mod faps are going for 100k+.. Imp MkIIās are going for 50k +. You can get 5 AK 47ās in the real world for that price!
The problem is a major one, but the answer is simple! MA needs to reintroduce the uber weapons/faps back into the market. If the cost for a player to attain mid-sized weapons and armour in this game is more than $500 then we have a serious problem on our hands. You can play World of Warcraft, or any other MMORPG out there for around $15 a month. Iām sure this game wasnāt only meant for the super wealthy, but as of now itās starting to look that way.
Even weeks would be too much in my opinion, you could stop some of what hes talking about by limiting it to 24 hours. That would force resellers trying to make a small amount of ped to tie their money up for a day. Only for successful auctions of course. Not failed auctions.
It could effect natural market forces negatively though. An example would be, I buy a GSI and then immediately realize the prices are dropping rapidly and I want to sell it back off so that I can buy it again for use in a few days.
Now I know some of you (ie the ones who have had or just recently shelled out the cash for a high-end item) are gonna give me -rep and flame the daylights outta me. So What.

What you need to understand SIBUK is if this is the case and resellers are draging prices up.. MA loves them Cause that means that more money to deposite which means more money for MA. This will never go into effect because like in RL; like this game is supposed to simulate ( to a degree), there are resellers. People who buy low sell high. ( ie stock market) But its all one big circle.. Lets say you put your gun on auction.. a resellers seesā it now he outbids someone else.. now you just benefited from it. Because he just payed more then what you would have gotten.. So te circle is complete and you get your benefit that you lost on being outbid or force to bidhigher on an item by or because of a reseller.

Agreed. IMHO, possibly the only way to stop the kind of auction reselling that SIBUK is talking about is to not have buyouts.
In fact I think PE would be much better off if all auctions began at the TT price (with the possible exception of estates or LAs). Let the auctions be auctions and the shops, shops.
But just like Explicit said, this wonāt be implemented b/c MA would likely lose money from people depositing large amounts for buyouts.
You think prices suck now? Make it so that a vast majority of items cannot be sold, so there is huge demand and no ability to supply! THEN youāll see how high prices can go!

Yeah, I also agree that certain resellers sux. Others are ok, I use to buy from time to time minerals or ME or other thing I dont have time to gather myself from resellers. Those which hunt items in auction just for purpose to resell at double price or so cause they know u need it.. one single solution for them.. bounty hunters and they to became subject of pvp everywhere if subject of bounty..
This idea is terrible. Very common example:
A friend in another time zone asks you to bid on an item for them while they sleep. Your idea would make this difficultā¦
Also, reduced inflation will reduce the price you can sell your mod fap for.

I agree with terrible idea guys. Limiting supply will drive prices through the roof. Just like in real life, the free market is the best way to go. It will be self-regulating. The consumer will always have to be aware and acquire knowledge if they donāt want to be ripped off, but that is like real life too.
This last weekend I was looking to upgrade my FAP-50 to a 2600. I noticed a FAP-5 in the auction with a tt value of ~2.00 PED with a buyout of 6 PED. WTF is up with that??

absolutely correct, however, in real life you have systems of checks and balances in place - laws governing commerce; sure, they differ from country to country but they are in place - anti-trust/monopoly/price fixing comes to mind right about now

Great idea, there already are much ideas how to make resellers life unbelivable hard and drive them away from bussiness. I think MA if not already, then soon, will look into that. It makes problems for them also if we look globally. Soooooooo many stackable items - most of materials - just collecting dust in resellers storages, or in auction for stupid prices. if materials not used, then cant be looted or mined. So miners and crafters also fucked upā¦ And this can`t be forever. Sooner or later it must be changed. Sooner-better.
Though I have better one. Use something like WoW system. Each time you place item in auction you pay some deposit, which is returned only if item is sold. And make that deposit quite high. Will kill 90% of resellers in a second:)

These items still drop dude. Not sure about others, have unconfimed info from not very thrustful people.
i undertan that every n00b would like to have imk2 and mod fap:D but thanks god that will never happen. For one simple reason - such items are veery bad for MAs economy. You will eventually get items which are better - faster, bigged damage etc. But there won`t be items with same or better efficiency. i would say that train is faaar away now.
