How Should I Spend 100 PED?

After attempting sweating for a few hours I realized there was absolutely no possible way I was going to work my A off that much for only a few cents so I put $10 USD in and now have 100 PED.

I would ultimately love to be able to keep breaking even and not have to put in any more money. I would like to start out hunting but am unsure exactly what I should spend my money on or of the costs of various items. Mining also sounds interesting but it sounds like it may be more expensive than 100 PED. By the way where do I go (which trade terminals) to buy beginner armor and weapons?

Any recommendation on how to spend this money would be very helpful. I’d like to keep at least 15 PED extra to help pay for repairs and whatnot but for the rest of the money it’d be great if you could inform of the best way you think there is to spend it.

If you could provide approximate costs of equipment that’d be very helpful too.

Hi there, good idea asking for input on this topic. I wish I had when I first started playing last year.

The best thing you can do with your peds is:

  1. Avoid the Trade Terminal armor, it’s cheap but junk. You can get Pixie Armor complete set for maybe TT+5-10. It’s cheap to repair, and offers very decent protection for a new player.

  2. Get yourself an Opalo from the Trade Terminal (Trains Rifle skill) it’s very cheap to operate and does good damage for the cost. Skill gains will be very nice, and you’ll find it helps you hunt efficiently. Also spent some money on ammo, maybe 20-30 ped.

  3. Try and get yourself a RepEdge Battle Axe 1x0, it will run you maybe TT+4-5ped per axe, but it’s still a very economical weapon to use.

That will give you a good set of starting equipment, and shoudl leave you with some peds left over (More then you 15 requested I think).

Then stick to hunting small mobs, snablesnots, exorasaurs, daikiba, berycleds, etc. Do this until your skills increase a good amount and you’re comfortable in PE and feel like moving up a little in mobs or equipment.

Avoid spending large amounts of money on great armor or bigger guns, it won’t help you as much at this stage and will cost you far more then you can spend. Also be very careful of buying from other players in-game, may scammers are out there and will try to rip you off. Always ask someone else before making a decision if a purchase is good or not, this way you’ll avoid being scammed.

Welcome to PE and GOOD LUCK!

PS- Mining IS good, but will cost you far more then you have to spend right now (Example my mining runs - very small by many standards - cost me 150ped each.) Stick to hunting for now.

PSS - Anyone else reading this feel free to correct me on anything I might have wrong, and of course add your own suggestions. I’m sure this is NOT the only way to spend these peds.

Hm, I can recommend you a little cheaper way  It is how I hunt and I almost always break even … sure there are some days, I loose a little… here it is:

Avoid any armor in the beginning, you don’t need it if you hunt small mobs like snables or daikibas or even berycled (which is more exciting, cause you will be often close to death when you kill it  ) Armor decays and you will pay for repairing it.

Use the TT sword instead of Axe. It is maybe more expensive for purchase then Axe (15.80 PED), in the beginning, BUT is more economical AND you will have skill bonus on it (so you will gain skills faster). It is VERY SLOW, but fast enough to kill recommended creatures.

Instead of an armor buy an FAP-5 (15 PED .. 1500 uses) and use it for healing. i am pretty sure you will pay the same money as you would pay for armor decay if you will heal yourself, BUT again, you gain skills for healing and you will be able to heal more and more efficiently (comparing to armor decay payment, when you gain nothing  )

Kill single mob in time, don’t run in the middle of the horde, watch your proximity to other mobs and you will be happy  If you can, buy an Opalo (not sure about price, but 3 PED I think) with some ammo and you can lure mobs by shooting to attack you, then run a little away from others, kill it, heal yourself and start over again.

Start with daikibas, exaro, snablesnots, sabakumas, etc. as Trakkur suggested, if you can try Berycled, they are more tough, focus on Berycled Young only in the beginning, they are giving nice loots actually on the north from Port Atlantis.

I wish you many luck and many killed mobs

P.S.: the advantage of TT stuff is, that you don’t pay anything over its TT value, so you can sell it to TT without any loose anytime

Starting Hunting eq for less than 100 PED

I too wish I had asked that question here …
I’ve been playing for a couple of weeks on my first 100 PED …

I’m using 3 of the TT weapons now, the rifle, the dagger and the pistol.
They won’t need repair for a long time… except maybe the dagger if you use it a lot. I suggest using the rifle as a primary weapon, it uses 2 rounds per shot so costs 2 pec per shot minus repairs ( I still haven’t repaired mine and it’s just below green now). Use the pistol to finish off things that are very low on health, it uses 1 round per shot so costs 1 pec per shot minus repairs (again I haven’t repaired it and it’s almost full green). Use the dagger when you need to do more damage or run out of ammo while killing something.
It uses 3 pec per swing for repairs but does more damage.
Use the quick bar to switch and fire weapons fast.

Starting damage ranges: pistol 2-4 rifle 3-6 dagger 6-10
(these are best guess averages I saw starting and will improve as you gain skills… I’ve had crits over 30 now that my skills are up a ways)

With the TT weapons you also get bonuses to skill gain that you don’t from other newbie weapons like the D-1 Jester or the axe 1x0.

I’ve used the longsword and rep axe 1x0 and they both cost a lot to repair.
I managed to burn the longsword from full repair to nothing very quickly.
I read in the “Way of the Sword” post that the axe changed and is more expensive to use now and I think it’s true.

So pistol 2.2 PED, rifle 3.8 PED, dagger 13.5 PED … 10 PED for ammo and you’ve got good cheap weapons and ~70 PED left over

Armor - you can find some good deals in the auction go pixie or goblin if the price is good. You can get arms and face cheap almost all the time tt+1 or sometimes less either in auction or from people trading. Other pieces try not to pay over tt+2 … Another tip when you get worn armor you don’t need to repair it all the way, it lasts a long time too, so you may just want to move it up a bit. If you find someone selling full pixie for tt+10 it’s a pretty good deal.
Just make sure it’s all M if you are male or F if you are female :>
If you are lucky you have about ~50 PED left over

The next thing you may want is a FAP 5 so you can heal fast when out of combat it costs 1 pec per use so is great and raises skills too.
You can get these cheap and again don’t have to repair them much to use them. (I keep mine at tt=3 PED when I repair it) I got my FAP for some sweat.

Once you’ve got some skills you may want to get an amp for your weapons
the a103 seems about the most cost effective for me so far.
I’ve got one that I switch between the pistol and rifle depending on what I’m hunting. Each shot will cost 2 pec repair on the 103 ( I keep it at about tt=5 PED or so most times) It also make the weapon use one more round of ammo.
So the rifle with the 103 uses 3 rounds per shot +2 pec repair = 5 pec a shot
and the pistol 4 pec a shot but it’s a big damage increase so it’s worth it on tougher mobs. I got my 103 for TT+1.5 but see them for tt+2 pretty often …
you won’t need this right away so you can wait till you can get one at a good deal.

Good Luck … I hope this helps … any corrections welcome

Opalo is a good skilling gun  But dont use 1x0. the ekonomy sucks. It was good before but nott anymore.

If you want to skill with melee try 2x0. it have a higher price :frowning: but its a good axe.

thats not true. axe 1x0 still has over 4.1 dmg/pec which is good. if im correct the decay was 5.6 pec right?

24/5.6=4.2857143 so still very good

(that is if i got the decay correct) and the damage of axe 1x0 is 24.

(formula: max dmg / decay+ammo burn(if avaible) = dmg pec

Thanks a lot everyone for all your responses. I now have three different strategies to go with, I didn’t expect to have this many options. I guess that’s what makes this game so interesting. It’s gonna be hard to choose one but I’m sure they’d all work great.

Don’t give up on sweating. The most efficient tactic is to find a solo mob and start to sweat it, only kill it when it attacks or is dry. If you can average 10 sweat/mob (wild guess, could be much higher or lower) then that’s equal to 15pec selling sweat at 1.5. That’s enough to buy 14 ammo and a spare pec for decay, 7 shots from an opallo - the mobs pay you for the ammo to kill them this way

Sweating will also gain you skills in concentration if you ever decide to use mindforce (teleport is usefull :))

Hmm, I never thought of it that way. The creature paying for itself to be killed, very cool concept. I guess now that I can kill these creatures if they spot me, instead of having to run back to the huge gun turret, it will make sweating much more bearable.

Thanks for the great tip.

Don’t get too hung up on the decay on melee weapons!
It looks bad compared to the TT guns but remember you’re not using ammo.

I skilled on the TT longblade to about 800 in Longblades around Fort Troy killing Exos and Daiks with an odd Foul throw in for good measure.
The TT longblade is the only weapon I’ve consistanly broken even with on standard loots as it has such a good damage to cost ratio.
(The downside is that it is a very boring weapon to use as it is soooo slooooow).

Have 2 or 3 of those blades ready, with the TT pistol for finishing, basically a 50PED hunt.
It will take you a while but you’ll kill a LOT of Daiks and Exos and by killing so many mobs on average you will (at least I did, pretty consitantly) end up even or pretty close even without having any special drops or minis. (I always used a full Goblin as well).
