Phase II began in early September 2001 with more than 500 testers.
Phase II expanded in October 2001 with an additional 500 testers, making total number of testers about 1000.
Gothenburg, Sweden – October 16, 2001 - MindArk AB announced today that the pool of participants in the current Phase II beta test of its pioneering Internet-based interactive entertainment enterprise, Project Entropia, has been expanded. The addition of a group of approximately 500 effectively doubles the size of the test. Phase I technical beta testing began in May with some 50 testers, progressing into Phase II in early September with more than 500.
“Beta testing is absolutely critical to making Project Entropia the very best it can be,” stated MindArk Marketing Manager Patric Sundstrom. “We’re extremely pleased at the progress our development team is making, and a portion of the credit belongs to the beta testers, some of whom have been exceptionally helpful in identifying bugs and other problems. As a result, we’re also happy that we can now accommodate approximately 1,000 participants to take part in continuing testing as we move forward with the implementation of new features and content.”
Project Entropia is a groundbreaking new form of interactive entertainment based upon a fully featured 3D persistent state world. It will be made available with no initial cost or mandatory subscription fees to millions of Internet users around the world. In the roles of human colonists on the seemingly idyllic virtual planet of Calypso, they will have the chance to meet and socialize or to explore and adventure with each other while facing challenges from wild indigenous creatures and invading robots.

PROJECT ENTROPIA LAUNCHES INTO COMMERCIAL OPEN TRIAL
Gothenburg, Sweden . May 20th, 2002 . Hundreds of thousands of gamers have been
asking for months to test Project Entropia. Their calls have been answered.
The Commercial Open Trial enables them to download the software worldwide.
“The virtual universe of Project Entropia is ever-evolving, so features will
constantly be added and enhanced” says MindArk Managing Director
Jan Welter Timkrans. “But now is the time to let the public in to experience an
amazing product that has been over three years in the making”.
Project Entropia is the largest virtual universe ever devised, where millions
of computer users will be able to interact with each other at the same time.
It takes the term .Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. to a whole
new level. This ever-evolving universe offers a world of opportunity for gamers
and non-gamers alike.
If adventure is the name of the game, set out and explore the vast wilderness of
planet Calypso. Encounter the native wildlife, mutants and robots or embark on
an expedition in this lost paradise. If untamed nature has no appeal, the cities
offer immense virtual playgrounds that mimic real life. There are opportunities
to socialize with friends, fall in love, own and decorate a home, become an
entrepreneur, even turn a profit. A profit in real money. Project Entropia
incorporates a unique economic system, which allows users to exchange real life
money into PED (Project Entropia Dollars) for use inside the virtual world and
then back into real currency again. It is much like the process of traveling in
the real world. This sets Project Entropia apart from the competition, as it is
completely free of charge and purchase. There are no monthly costs aside from
the fees charged for local access to the Internet. The software will be
downloadable through the Internet. The start-up costs will be next to nil for
most people. It is really that easy.
MindArk Supervisory Board Chairman Benny Iggland says, “Project Entropia is unlike
any other MMORPG on the market, People have the opportunity to make real money and
become financially successful in a virtual world”.
The world of Project Entropia is set to take you on an epic journey far into the
future where you can help shape the creation of an entire civilization, the next
foundation in the mankind quest of prosperity. Take the journey. Experience the
future today. For any additional information, log onto the official

GOLD (Official Launch) was January 30th 2003.
Gothenburg, Sweden - December 10, 2002 - Swedish interactive entertainment developer MindArk today announced the virtual universe Project Entropia is going gold on January 30th 2003. Project Entropia is Sweden’s largest software project ever, and has been in development since 1997.
Project Entropia is a three-dimensional virtual universe on the Internet accessible from any computer with an Internet connection, anywhere in the world.
Project Entropia is an entertainment product aimed for global usage across culture, age and sex barriers. The main focus in the development has been to cater to the features desired by online gamers as well as for users engaged in society and community building - those with an interest in meeting other people for social interaction and adventure. Millions of users will be able to interact in the Project Entropia universe.
Project Entropia introduces unique features like a real economy where its currency, PED, is exchangeable with any major currency in the world. The software needed to enjoy Project Entropia is free to download, and this virtual universe is free to enter and spend time in.
“It is even possible to make a living in Project Entropia,” says Chairman Benny Iggland. “This is being demonstrated by several of our commercial trial users. A market economy is rapidly evolving, with our users defining prices on various commodities and items available in the virtual universe. Project Entropia will also incorporate real world commodity trading in a three dimensional environment.”
“Some 15 million USD have been invested in the development of Project Entropia to date and we expect to continue developing Project Entropia in the years to come for a sum of at least 5 million USD annually,” says Managing Director Jan Welter Timkrans.
Even though the release date has been set for January 30th, 2003, it is possible for anyone who wants a head start to immediately enter the Project Entropia universe after downloading the software at www.project-entropia.com .
Project Entropia Version Update Golden
Gothenburg, Sweden - February 13, 2003 - The virtual universe of Project Entropia has gone gold with the release of its latest version update 4.2. The implementation has brought exciting new features into the ever-evolving universe of PE as well as several technical updates. Here are the highlights:
PVP Introduced - The calls for Participant versus Participant combat have been answered. It is now allowed in a specially marked area of the map. The area itself is quite valuable with rare mineral deposits and unique creatures roaming about.
Personal Storage Facilities Present - Each avatar now has the ability to use a PSF, which functions as a safe deposit box for personal items. These facilities are located throughout Calypso and are free of charge.
Hall of Fame Expanded - A new construction category has been added to the HOF, as well as both an All-Time High section and a 24-Hour section displaying the greatest efforts of the last 24 hours.
PE Exchange Enhanced - Buy, sell and trade on the PE Exchange. More information is now available and the interface has been tweaked for better functionality and understanding.
Download Resume - If the connection fails during a download of Project Entropia, the auto-updater will now begin downloading the files from the point the connection failed when it is restarted.
Newbie Guide Online - While downloading the client, newcomers are offered a helpful guide about what to expect and how to begin orientating themselves on Calypso.
Exploit Info Reward System - Participants who encounter exploits (bugs that can be manipulated into cheating) and report them to MindArk can now be rewarded with up to 1000 PEDs!
Come and visit Calypso to see what else you’re missing. Our next version update with more content and fixes is just around the corner..
Welcome to the future!
