How do n00bs sweat now?

I was wondering about this last night when I went to Camp Pheonix…

I stepped off the teleporter and it was so barren around me  This ‘No Trapping’ carry on from MA… does it also mean that as well as the trapped creature not taking any damage, it cannot be sweated either?

The price of sweat is gonna rocket BIG time heehehee… glad I dont use ME just now

I know when I was hunting last night, out in the open may I add, I was getting messages telling me that I couldnt hit my NON TRAPPED mob because it was trapped… :dunno: so the trapping ‘fix’ has a lovely big bug tagged onto it too :handjob:

Anway, I’ll report (as I’m sure others have) that to MA in the hope that they’ll sort it out as quickly as they sorted out Billy’s

Cant sweat trapped mob OMG what are MA thinking. :handjob:
ME already costs to much and now its going to sky rocket if no one can sweat a trapped mob. :frowning:
might get the noobs working a little harder they will have to sweat in teams of 2 new 1 run the other sweat might be good for them :wise:

what cracked me up was west of argus hunting biffs. No need to trap..I ran block for a newer guy ..just to help him out as soon as i stood in front of it it said …animal is trapped..wtf? I moved and shot it in the arse till it died, But earleir that day on a hill not planning but the mob couldnt get to me …It just did its usual whining and trying and i jestered it to death so something just isnt right. Thats for sure. it was stuck in the hill. What gives?

I replied to this on another thread… so here it goes…

Sweating is a nice favor to newbs, and important to the mf economy.
I never viewed trapped sweating as a good way to welcome our little newbies to Calypso  To me, trapped sweating is essentially saying this: 1) We encourage trapping… 2). PE is easy  3) PE is cheap and inexpensive

IMHO, newbs are very fortunate to be able to sweat for free… so now they need to start gaining those bottles the hard way… nothing at all wrong with that. Will some leave? Yes… but obviously MA has decided that the number that will potentially leave is outweighed by the number that will stick around and learn from their sweating experiences. :wise: Afterall, now newbs will be having to team up, have a runner perhaps, gain more skills… this is all good for them to learn how the game works imo.

I also hear that already the number of bottles you get is larger… so this will eliminate the problem… can any1 confirm this?

You DO get more bottles. Not much more thogh. Maximum 10%.
You DO need to run more for it too. It takes 2 to 3 times as long to collect the same amount of sweat.
It is possible (and I like it more) to sweat alone.

Noobs should just go to caravan where Oije skills evade with plumaterguses 24/7

sweating is harder now, but you’re right, it encourages ppl to try harder

although I must admit that I don’t get more bottles.. maybe i’m just doing it in the wrong way..

but sometimes it happens that a mob is just staying in one place, relaxed and I can sweat it until it is drained, it does not attack me or run away.. why?

My problem with no trapping to sweat is that MA increased the aggressiveness of many mobs about January. My first couple weeks, sweating (without trappng) was risky, but not an automatic death warrant, becuase you could get close enough to many mobs to sweat them without them charging you.

After one VU (don’t remember which), suddenly the mobs wouldn’t let you close enough to sweat.

So how would you recommend noobs sweat, given that getting close enough to anything that won’t run away is pretty much guaranteed to get you killed?

As for what Sedimin said - not so much a problem if MA has readjusted the aggressiveness. Anyone else notice if that’s the case?

Sveta, mark my word: if the 100 000 “little newbies” decide that they had enough and quit - your life in PE is gonna become really miserable. :wise:

Nah- I’ve been in game 2 yrs… belive me, it wasn’t ever miserable

Secondly to Maniac and Shade… I NEVER SAID I DIDN’T AGREE WITH SWEATING! Pls re-read my remark :girl: I said, I was against trapping to sweat atm… I have also said numerous times that there ought to be true sweat-farms… and many of them… if this does become a big issue. Perhaps ma is waiting to see how sweating goes with this vu and adjust things accordingly.
I just did not like how a brand new players to the game came in and saw that trapping was a “good” thing… we all learn from what we see :wise:

I’m not quite sure where you get that from - I never thought you were against sweating. That doesn’t even make sense.

Also, please don’t take my question as confrontational - when I said “So how would you recommend noobs sweat, given that getting close enough to anything that won’t run away is pretty much guaranteed to get you killed?”, I meant it as straightforward question. Since a noob is most likely going to get killed while trying to sweat without trapping, what would you recommend they do? Just deal with getting killed? That doesn’t seem like a good way to keep players.

In the absence of official sweat farms, trapping was a reasonably safe and comparatively efficient means of sweating. With that removed, safety and efficience are shot to hell. What’s the answer? I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Yea i wish someone would actually answer the question of this thread instead of debating it. Cause as i can’t sweat myself anymore i’d like to know what i’m supposed to tell new people. Anyone gather sweat after this VU how did you do it what technique did you use? What creatures did you use? Did you work in a team?

so if you wish to have answered the topic of this thread ..

i saw my little bro playing PE today and he and other folks sweated in teams of 2 or 3 - as it has already been described here - one is runner and is also gaining some skills and the others sweat.. then they exchange and all over again.

Yes- that is what I recommend to newbies as well. Some mobs you can chance it and run up to them solo… but larger mobs not really…
Sweating just takes a little more ingenuity, teamwork and effort now… nothing wrong with that atm. If not enough ppl do it, and sweat goes sky-high, then perhaps a real sweatfarm can be implemented.

Okay, thanks for the answers guys

I don’t agree - I am a Newbie and I deposit into the game.

That means I contribute to the Loot pool, for the benefit of Hunters, Craftsmen and Miners (aren’t I nice! )

I would like to see Mindark work on more opportunities for Newcomers to deposit into the game (eg purchasing and kitting out apartments, building a thriving market economy in the process). Instead, for me as a newcomer this is not practical because all the apartment complexes are effectively unavailable to newcomers because of the PvP rampages around Teleports and Revivals :banghead: .

I was seeing some pretty healthy loots during the few days of frenzied apartment purchases, but for me at least these seem to have dwindled of late.

If Mindarks strategy is to focus their attention away from kids who don’t have the means to deposit (the 100,000 newbies you mention) and focus on selling the game to serious individuals then hats off to them.

I hope a lot more effort goes into encouraging newcomers to buy into the game, not just clog up resources and grind PA to a halt through server lag!

Machman the n00b!

Its getting harder for non -depositing noobs to play the game…
Now the only way is the"Visa" way..
cheers..

The whole idea of a sweat farm is based on some kind of trap.
Without trapping - naked noobs will die in less than a minute, trying to sweat something, unless they work in teams (which is hard work gameplay-wise).

The harder sweating becomes - the less noobs will become attracted to the project and further on choose to deposit. Because the first thought that pops into your mind is “This is dang too hard!”.

That would be quite truthful popping then. Somehow I doubt really easy sweating will make players to deposit through difficult hunting/mining times. More likely easy sweating makes players to quit when they seem to fail in everything else.

I think harder sweating is good opportunity for mentors. Get disciples, get fap and let them sweat while you train evade. You can teach them same time and they can earn their first jester and ammo that way.
