There is a finite number of them. The names are Astrid, Sarah Fox, Santika Pandeva, Sven Erik, Silas, Blind Monk, Eira, Synth Socrates, Philip James and CDF Synth Guard.
So that one is a real player. Doesn’t mean he is a human though, could be a synth in real life!

Does it matter? Some people are NPC:s by default?

If you get an answer much too fast it must be a bot or synth.
A synth called Socrates is out there? 
Yes they answer immediately, and atleast the one I talked with, messages were longer lenght than we players are allowed to do. Also it told me it is synth when I asked

Isn’t there a soc called “Synth” or “Synths”? It doesn’t allow showing the member list, though.
