public domain exist for evrything , you can as copyright owner , give something to evryone.
usual it go that you need to say original maker/owner name , and sometime if you gain money with it , you have to give back a part.
only about software exist tons licence , like GNU ..

Public Domain Photos??

Thanks for the link essi
Public domain means the photo is not protected by copyright and may be freely used by everyone.
All photos are protected by copyright by default.
This holds true for any image taken, regardless of camera, photographer, medium. Whoever clicks the button is by default, assigned the copyright owner.
I would like to know where he went to do this and how much it cost him, because the only way to do that would be by some kind of legal agreement. Just because I say these 300 photos I took of cindy crawford are public domain, doesn’t make them public domain.
That aside, we are not talking about someones own snaps of landscapes here - we are talking about professional images of celebrities for top end publications.
I’ve just read this and I cant believe what I’m reading/seeing..
Yes, the photo is definitely a rip off of Caprice, and very well done to Wanda for finding the original photograph.
As far as copyright is concerned… ANYTHING you produce, be it a photograph, a computer program (yes Etopia you automatically gain copyright when you create it… no license required), a painting or even a fart stain for that matter.
Why dont you all look up the meaning of copyright…if Copyright is not obtained, then I believe you are breaking an international law :yup:
BUT I’m sure Marco and the gang have already requested copyrights for all their space chicks and backdrops from Space 1999 ![]()

I tried to find a email adress to LucasFilms to check but I only find phonenumbers and no way in hell that I am gonna call the US
what im saying is these are promotional photos.
they could have been taken at the beginning of her modelling career, and then she sent them out to all kinds of people/services/agencies, etc.
maybe they require that ownership is relinquished and the images become public domain..
afaik i did a google search for ‘public domain caprice images’ and found that very one.. now, wether or not it was ACTUALLY public domain, or just mis-hosted.. who knows.. =)
its definately 100% not a public domain photo and its not one taken at the beginning of her career. The copyright belongs to either an FHM type magazine, Playboy or the photographer.
Anything for you Nea.
As I am currently sitting on a laptop in the Swedish woods trying to relax myself (and by doing that, I join this board ,-) I don’t have the name of the artist here. But if I don’t am mistaken, the real name of the artist is in the Items info on any painting in PE, so when you have that, google away.
I really think these conspiracy theories are hillarious. Like we would have the time to scheme and plan. =)
(some tidbits from an upcoming VU btw - an items general decay rating is visible in the items info - you requested it, we will supply it)

I don’t know, as I didn’t do the painting. I suggest you ask the artist who did the same question. Don’t you agree?

True. In a court of law MA can claim they had no idea that the images were copyrighted photos. They un-knowingly bought the images in bulk from the artist, and put them ingame. They can claim that they thought he painted the whole pictures, not just overlayed famous women with photoshop latex. ![]()
So MA is free from liability I guess. Dunno about this Rick Van Koert guy though.
[edit: he is dutch btw]
[double edit: reply to oTHER posts marco.. if you’re gonna spend your valborgsdagen holiday time in the woods on a laptop..
go light a fire, enjoy the view, etc. or are you hiding from bugs?]
[triple edit: click on IRC:#PE in the top right!]

Artist name is Rick Van Koert and he does latex porn/erotic paintings so I dont wanna know who “found” that guy,its unclear if he got the models permission to add the “latex” and space effects though since most of the photos are taken by different photographers
Caprice’s management have just e-mailed me and the copyright of that image belongs to Caprice/the photographer.
I actually know the guy, so will ask him later ![]()

Wanda: I was extremely impressed by your research, and finding the photo of Caprice…
So much so that you have inspired me to seek out the full original photo that Marco posted on the “Show us ya face” thread
After a long and arduous scour of the internet, I have finally found it…
IMO this should also be hung (or he should) up in space…
