“Security breach” was used in an ad for PE in the norwegian computer magazine “PC-Pro” (now canceled). It was actually the ad that got me into the game (and the fact that skam once tried to recruit me).

Pic #3 is “Miss Vader”, and look out of the window, StarWars TieFighters in the background.
[/QUOTE]
I always knew MA stole emotes and sounds from the Sims, dunno if those were copyrighted but I know for a fact that the pic with “Ms Vader” and the TIE fighters is a violation of trademarks and copyrights. MindArk,if LucasArts finds out they wont be happy

Actually, I haven’t been to the space station yet so I have yet to see him. However, I do have a slight fear that if MA DID start making guy posters..well…they’d be less than desirable…

This has been on my mind for a while particularly with the women paintings.
Maybe MA have paid rights to use images, but even that newest painting looks like a rip off of a hajime sorayama illustration.
Most of those paintings are photographic and I wonder if MA have either paid a photographer to shoot them or paid for usage rights?

so you dont know for the fact , but you speculate…
i know for the fact :
-
lots of compagny use starwars stuff , like TIE fighter … in image , film , soundtheme … they just pay the right to use it , like macdonald right now in france , where they make special game about starwars…
-
i know for fact , BSA , make exactly same speculation about MA and just lost the judgement.
i guess som part are free to use … i guess like lots of things you can use som specific stuff in specific way for free because its all time good to guet free advertising.
i have never heard that apel complain when we see imac in movies.
i never heard about ferari complain when in a movie you can see one as best car around ( you need follow som rule , like its total forbiden to breake an ferari on movie…i know one do it ,dont remember the name
)

Good point Etopia, but to clarify your final point… in movies, t.v, commercials, etc, the producer of the show must usually get written permission to use, say, Ferrari :deal: . Often this works to Ferrari’s advantage b/c it’s free advertising for them of course :eureka: So most companies are more than happy for their trade marks to be used (as long as that permission has been granted)
I dont know the laws at all but I think you are allowed to create new art from old art. Ie. you could use newspaper pictures and turn them into a big art thingie without needing to ask newspaper, photographers or possibly thousand people in the pictures.
Main thing there is not presenting old pictures or copyrighted material as it is but use it in your own creations. But I dont know the exact limitations there.
i have hard time to understand what etopia is saying, no offence etopia… fix typos at least hug ![]()
anyways, basicly what essi said isnt like that or partially, u need to have permission to use material from its original “maker”. unless the first party hasnt made it not copyrighted aka “free”.
if u take one part of something, and make it totally different and new, then its “yours”, but what is that? where do we cross the line enough, i dont know, i am not that “lawyer” ![]()

This is generally wrong.
I recall a website of a guy who used to make these “paintings”.
He used to take a photo of a model and paint latex on top of it to make it look like she was wearing it.
Unless this guy had permission to use the photos - which I highly doubt - then he is breach of copyright law.
Now compare this painting and photo - you can clearly see its the same image ![]()

Now, it may be the case that MA went to him and asked for permission to use his “paintings” or they may even have paid him. However, from a legal pointof view MA are also breaking copyright law by using this material - especially in a commerical environment.
