is there anyone out there that can help me with my computer setup and getting connected to PE. I have a DSL connection that is running through a D-Link DI-604 router. I can connect fine if I take the router off but when I put the router on I cannot log in to PE. I have set the proper ports with help of PE Support and D-Link support but I am still unable to login even throught DMZ setting on the router. Is there anyone else out there using D-Link and DSL?
The thing that I don’t understand is that even with this router, before when I had Charter Cable ISP, I was able to login through the router without making any port changes at all. I was even able to login my account and my wife’s account at the same time on 2 seperate computers. Now with DSL I can’t even log in on one computer through the router.
I’m really frustrated and could use some help from the PE community.
Hmm, that sounds kinda weird if the router works with cable but not with DSL. I can think of one possibility you could check: WAN settings on the router. At least on my D-Link router (not the same model though) there is a setting page for wan connection type. You should have several options there, like Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP, BigBond etc. So depending on your ISP, the correct setting should be one of the 3 first ones for DSL and either of the two latter for most cable connections (or something similar). So if you have switched from cable to DSL without touching those options, that might cause a problem. The connection might seem to work on different options, but only one option should be correct and allow the connection to work as it should.
Let me get back to you in a week.
I have a D-Link router and i think its even the same model as you. And i get my ADSL next friday. It damn well better work or imma get pissy
Edit: Checked it up. Its not DI-604 i have, its DI-624.
Are you able to access the internet and not PE? That is just too weird. I have accessed from a variety of different set-ups and routers and never had any difficulty whatsoever with connection.
Might try uninstalling and re-installing in case there is something in the CL that is looking for the old DNS.
Reset the router to factory default. Load it with the latest FirmWare. Start over with configuration.
Had one DI-604 until just a week ago when I got me a wireless one instead. I did have all kind of strange lag and connection issues until that I installed the latest firmware. Also, as said above, if you have changed the type of connection do talk to them and ask for correct configuration in the wan settings.
