Help Me Please!!!!!!!

ok… so all of my stuff on my computer has been shutting down… WinMX, my support for PE, some websites, and my email… today my power went out and totally fooked up my interent… as time went on i realized that my AIM worked but IE wouldnt work… so i had some retarded guy talkto me and make me restart my network about 12737126 times… so i said fook it, got on aim, and asked a buddy for the .exe of mozilla firefox… AND ALL MY SHIT WORKED AGAIN YAHOOO!!!.seeing this im all happy… so when i go to start up PE i realize its not working cause its hooked up to internet explorer…

How can i change my PE setting from IE to Mozilla firefox?

Help is uberly appriciated

:stuck_out_tongue: i think you cant change it though my primary(standard) netbrowser is mozilla

PE client still uses IE which i hate…

from ur problems its sounds like u need a major regclean if not even format C:

F Disc all the way !!

Yeah have to agree after that kinda damage best way is just to reformat never know if you fixed all the problems. Aside from that could try scan disc make sure notthing is corrupted.

hmm… is thier a way that i can make mozilla my default for PE or possibly delete IE? i looking in the Add/Remove Programs list thing and IE wasnt thier?.. help plz

IE is a windows compentent bottom tab in windows XP add / remove programs box

what the fook :(…maybe i can do somthing with PE and set mozilla as a default?
any ideas?

PE client loader is based on IE and there is nothing you can do about it (without violating the EULA). So you HAVE to have a working IE to run PE, but you can still use Mozilla or whatever as your regular browser. And as others have said, a computer gone into that bad a shape probably needs a complete reformat to avoid bigger problems in the future.

format c:\

okokok… :(… how do i reformat? and do i lose all my shit?

You sound like a Dell user (or other brand name PC user) (no offence) . This means that most likely your PC came with an socalled “Recovery CD”. This should do everything for you, if you follow the instructions.

And you will loose all you’re “shit”. i would recomend you back up the most important stuff somewhere, like CDRs or an external HD if you have one.

If you do that, then it is important to install a viruskiller BEFORE restoring your backups.

i just need to no how to reformat… i dont need a whole book thats gonna cost me 50$… can anyone tell me what i need to do to reformat?

read what hansi said, you probably have a CD lying around somewhere called a recovery CD, it will take you through all the steps that you need to do.

So stop saying the same thing over and over again, and go look for it.

I dont mean to be negative, but it’s not just: "i just need to no how to reformat… " If you never done it before, you’re not likley to succeed the first couple of times either. Unless you have a pre-configured restore CD like the other dudes here tell you. Installing windows from scratch isnt so hard, but if you never done it before, then get someone who has to do it for you. Just a word of advice. You’re likley to fail to install the hardware properly, and you’ll end up even worse then you started out. The booklink I sent was just an advice. If you dont want to read, then dont.

You COULD try installing anti-virus software, as you have several viruses in your system - you more than likely got them from a dodgy download in WinMX

It’s almost certainly too late for that tbh - but it’s worth a try

Also, IE is not just an application, but also lots of components. The IE inside the PE ClientLoader is a component that’s specified in hard code. No you cannot change it

If you have a cd burner, save all your documents, program saves, etc to cd

Then fdisk/format/re-install or use your recovery cd

Then (while the network cable / usb adsl cable is unplugged) install your anti-virus and firewall. Only then should you consider connecting to the internet

Put your document CDs in, and scan them - pointless making a nice clean system and then putting the same viruses back in again

If you have a WinXP CD you can do a “boot from CD” reformat. You need to enable “Boot to CDROM” on start up of your PC.

To do a walk through on how to do this I’d need to know your PCs manufacturer.

This method is not for the fainthearted or those that don’t know much about changing their Bios.

Changing your Boot order isn’t dangerous at all. Messing with other settings in the Bios is if you don’t know what you’re doing.

If you havent typed the text " format c:" in DOS.. you souldnt own a computer..

I dont think you even have to change boot order.. it will boot from the CD-rom anyway..??

Depends on the Bios..some do..some don’t. Also you can change the Boot order on some PCs after the bios is booted.

ask a friend that knows something about computers to help you … and if you just wanna have the IE problem fixed you can try to install a newer IE … like one version higher than your version … dunno if it would work tho
